Well, the fake chase Chumpionship leader just got eliminated even tho he won Texas, Hamlin is now 352 points back with 2 races to go....Johnson is the only one still alive 300 points back of Harvick.

I do find it interesting that we have a Triumvirate, if you will, of leaders at this point of the season.

Hamlin leading the Chase by 33 over Johnson.
Harvick leading the Classic points by 300 over Johnson.
Johnson leading the FIA standings by 2 over Harvick.

Hamlin isn't leading either full season scenarios, heck he isn't even P2 in either.

Thanks alot, Bri-Bri, for another screwed up season......

This is a pointless discussion. As has been mentioned ad infinitum, the drivers and teams would race differently in the regular season if points did not reset in the Chase. The 48 in particular is known to use the regular season to test, and then they turn it all on in the Chase. This is a fun little parlor game to look at the standings in a different way, but it is not fair to many of the teams that strategize for the Chase.

Good posting, unfortunately shows why the chase curse is on us.
Without the manipulating it would be over and even less attendance for the last two races.
And the 48 would not be a 4 time "champion"

You keep believing that...but anyone paying attention will see the 48 and Knaus cruise the first part of the season and just make the chase. Do you really believe they wouldn't race differently if there was no Chase?

Those who want to believe that fiction obviously haven't been watching everyone in NASCAR do their level best to beat this guy over a 10 races stretch and not even get close in the end to doing it FOUR YEARS IN A ROW. Are you naive enough to believe they cant do this for a full season? REALLY? They gamble more, do more research and try setups in the first 26...because they know in the end, those 10 races mean putting it all together..and they win...and win...and win....

The boo-birds don't want to see who the real legitimate champ should be. Bri-Bri didn't like having one guy running away with the whole enchilada before the season's end.

IMHO every champ since the "Chase" was implemented needs an asterisk after his name in the NASCAR history books. The asterisk signifies "BOGUS".

Congrats to Kevin Harvick for clinching the 2010 "Winston Cup" Championship at Phoenix......

Now, can he get it done at Homestead so the Chase Champion and real champion will again be one and the same, just as it was last year, or is he gonna come up short and allow someone else who doesn't deserve it get it, like 2004,2007, and 2008.

One important part of the points system that seemingly is never mentioned but important is once the season rolls to the July race at Daytona, if a team is set for the Chase, they will go into "chequers or wreckers". Nothing but wins matter, and they will do risks that they would not do under the traditional points system knowing the race can be "discarded" similarly to what happened in many FIA points systems.
