Awesome post Wedge. Thanks for that.

It hadn't run in 45 years? Wow. Sounds and looks like new.

What's the origin of the clip?

Nice!!!! Thanks for posting that. My first visit to Indy was to see this car in the time trials.

Thanks for posting the video! There are several snippets of Jackie driving the car (conservatively) at Goodwood this year. Here are a couple of 'em:

Saw this up on the IndyCar site a few months ago. Great clip. I believe they put this together a bit after the Sato deal. Hopefully Lotus sticks around the IRL for a long time to come.

If you can find a copy of UK pub MotorSport, the July issue has a cover story on the history and restoration of this classic Indy car.

The Concours d'Elegance that I help produce (I run the website and Chair the awards committee) is going to have a special display for the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500. We already have, I believe, 3 cars committee from the Indy Museum. And when I sent a note to the car selection chair a couple of days ago I was told we are working on getting THIS car too. I can't wait!

I am glad to see this car restored. I saw it "back in the day" when it was part of a Ford traveling car show not long after it ran at Indy. The Ford people apparently didn't think it was anything special back then as it was just sitting outside under a tent and not even roped off.

Wish I would have seen the type 38 at Indy. I did see Clark drive the type 29 to a dominant victory at the Mile in 1963. It was quite a thrill to say the least.

Thanks for bringing back some Lotus memories...

That's really cool Gary. If the car shows up, then we expect some really good pictures from you. Even if the car doesn't make it, we expect some really good pictures from you. :D

Check the website and specifically look at the galleries. Fortunately we have a couple of professional photographers who are good friends of the Concours and they donate their services. Unfortunately, I have very little time to even see the damn cars. I arrive at 6:30 AM to set up the stage and trophy display and our staging arear for my award crews. Then around 10 those crews (8 teams of two each) arrive and from that point on I am on a radio directing the teams handing out trophies and ribbons, locating drivers and/or owners and lining up a parade of 40+ cars that receive their trophy at the podium. That starts at 2:00PM and runs until 4:00PM at which point the cars make a made dash for the exits. I get to see some of them then.
