Hey Bruce,

Do you wish us to use one car for all stages, or can we vary them as we wish?

I'd love to do the tarmac stage in the R5, but no other stages in it.

Perhaps I could submit a second set of times which did not count in the overall placings....

Bruce D

Yeah I prefer it if everyone chose 1 car for the whole event but seen as it's a fun event you can enter a 2nd entry if you want.

Hello everyone - I have returned from the abyss and will be competing again this year in the MF Cup. My new laptop has allowed me to play RBR, although my times will be a bit slow until I get used to the weird controller I use. I remember being quite good on the old PS2, but those skills have long gone! Look forward to a good season for all.

There is a delta S4 skin and physics on the Blackhole site, but I have no idea how to incorporate it into the game.

Could anyone help?

pettersolberg29

It's quite complicated tannat, but its not hard as such. There should be a readme file when you download it. You need Winrar to unzip the file first. If you do that and there isn't a readme or you are stuck, just ask again and I'll try and give detailed instructions.

Oh-there is a readme, but it has no details on incorporating the file... :(

I'll just download it quickly so I can see what's happening. Back in a sec.

edit: which one did you download? The "S4 Experiment Beta" one?

pettersolberg29
11th August 2010, 12:01
If it's the S4 one, then look at the readme, then copy the little bit of 5 lines that looks like this:
FileName = "Cars\Lancia_Delta_S4\Lancia_Delta_S4.sgc"
IniFile = "Cars\Lancia_Delta_S4\Lancia_Delta_S4.ini"
ShaderFile = "Cars\Lancia_Delta_S4\Lancia_Delta_S4_shaders.ini"
ShaderSettings = "Cars\Lancia_Delta_S4\Lancia_Delta_S4_shader_settin gs"
TexturePath = "Cars\Lancia_Delta_S4\Textures\"

Copy it into the directory of RBR/Cars/cars.ini
You have to replace the car you want to lose from the game - it doesn't matter which one as long as you know so you can easily choose it in the menus.
Then simply copy the physics folder into the RBR part. If you already have a folder called Physics, then just merge them (should happen automatically when you copy and paste the downloaded 'physics' file). Let me know what car you have replaced so I can tell you how to rename the physics file.

Sounds a bit complex-don't want to chance botching up RBR.

Thanks for your efforts, PS29 :up:

You can't do it that way anyway cos RSRBR over-rides those files every time you use them so you'd lose you changes.

pettersolberg29
13th August 2010, 12:04
Just finished Day 1 too. No idea how well I've done in comparison to the regular competitors as my pace (or lack of) is unknown. Set 4 PBs, but only having the game for a week means that is less impressive than it sounds! Chirdonhead and Autiovaara are very tricky, but I really enjoyed Sipirkakin, and of course the Rally School stage which went well. No major incidents or crashes to report except between the red boards and the stop line on Sipirkakin where I was so relieved to finish the stage that I rolled after hitting the mountainside!

tannat
13th August 2010, 12:23
205 is a nervous little beast-Sipirkakim was no fun at all.

The frameload is a bit skippy-not certain what the problem is...

Is it acceptable to ask 'rivals' foir advice on here? If so, any tips on how to do the stage Mineshaft without hopelessly drifting down the hills either side of the road and losing 20s+ by using the Call for Help feature? My car just drifts wide every corner so I have to go real slow. Any quick fix on setup, or is it just a really slow stage?

Sounds as if you are understeering. Simple adjustment would be to increase the size of the rear swaybar.

I'll give that a go. One of my main problems is that my gamepad works digitally which means when I steer with the 'stick' on the pad, it goes on full lock however I steer = on fast straights if I so much as touch the gamepad I start to wobble from side to side and spin off. It gets very annoying...

On Mineshaft the problem is that I tend to steer too gently as I fear hitting the inside of the corners and damaging suspension or rolling. This means that I fall off the other side instead!

Are you using a PS2 controller-so am I.

The most beneficial thing I found was to set steering lock to 360 degrees. Also go into the main menu for RBR for controller settings and adjust the fade settings. This should 'pad' your inputs so it is not too wild...

pettersolberg29
13th August 2010, 15:50
I'm using a very cheap PC contoller - how can you use a PS2 controller as that would be good for me?
I've tried looking in the menus and adjusting the fade settings but it doesn't help unfortunately - it's a case of 2 extremes - either full lock or it doesn't steer at all. I'll see what my times are like in this rally, and if they are anywhere near the rest of the group then I'll just get used to it. Otherwise I will investigate a new contoller!

I had a cheapo PC controller before my PS2 controller (there is a PS2 USB connetion you can buy-check ebay, about $10 US). Feel free to check my times from last season and have a good laugh-they were HORRIBLE!!!!!

I think you are doomed (sorry) as I can remember trying to compete with the thumbpad-as you have stated it is full lock, or nothing.

Try this link

http://rallyesim.com/rsrbrlive09/adjustments_RBR.asp

Perhaps you cna adjust the car to suit your on/off input.

The really thing is that these cars don't handle so great. If you were to try an S2000 things might imrove a bit.

Good luck, PS29.

pettersolberg29
13th August 2010, 16:18
Thanks tannat - maybe a PS2/PC adapter would be a good idea. Like I say, I'll see what I can do here, and if doomed is what I am, then I will change!

I've never tried an S2000 car but its certainly easier using a WRC car than a Group B one! My Championship car will be a Peugeot 206, or possibly a 306 Kitcar using Ford physics as this seems to suit my style. Perhaps an S2000 would help even more.

Can you do this with RSRBR 09/10?

pettersolberg29
15th August 2010, 19:58
Can you do this with RSRBR 09/10?

No - I mean just in the game without RSRBR. I've spoken with Bruce and RSRBR doesn't work on my system so I'm taking part in rallies as a privateer style driver. Its up to Bruce and the rest of the regular competitors such as yourself as to whether or not you mind me taking points when (or more realistically if!) I ever get into the position. I have no idea how quick I will be in comparison to you guys so I may not even challenge for points, let alone reach the points!

Could have done much better, If we had similar fun events now and then!
Those monster cars, require many hours of racing, until you get to know
all their hints,tips and secrets ( In handling mostly).
Didn't feel so comfortable, with so much power on my hands, but I had my good moments
( though they were less than 'call for help' moments! :D )
Another thing noticed, Is that GpB cars require very good knowledge of every stage,
as there are very specific parts, you can really get all the speed that you need, but at some other ocassions,
you must drive slower even than a WRC car!
Overall, It's been a great experience! Hope more like this to come!

Screenies coming shortly... ;)

Just did the event and what a tough one it was. Audi S1 was very fast at straights but really handful in the corners. I had one goal in mind and that was to finish and I achieved it. Though that ment not going 100% all the time and holding back in tricky places.

On this rally I didn't had any crashes luckily but there were times where I was very close on having a big one. One of the most serious problem of this rally was SS5 - Hualapai Nation, not the toughness of the stage, but I was concerned that my engine would expire on this stage with a headgasket failure. During my practice runs the engine of my Audi would always die few hundred of meters near the end at the last K left. It would happen no matter how I would drive the car, so when I did the rally, I was really taking it very easy and using higher gears than I would normally do. And I luckily made it, though near the end the engine note was starting to change hinting an engine problem.

On Mineshaft I had few problems with with the tight K turns at the junctions and lost maybe 5-10 seconds.

tannat
16th August 2010, 16:41
PS29 what did you drive?

Looks like LCD and NeverKnow drove Audis.

I drove the Pug, and am currently having big fun in the 037 (although it is not as quick as the 205).

pettersolberg29

I drove the Audi as well, although after trying the 037 I wish I had driven the Lancia instead. The Audi was OK, but struggled in the tight corners of Mineshaft and slid wide a lot on Autiovaara.

The 037 is bliss to drive, but I compared times with my 205 times and found it to be slightly off, but not by much...

Anyone know how the RS200 drives?

I'm sure it could be a better car if you practise with it a bit. The 205 and the Quattro are quicker out the box though.

I was pondering the idea of after October when the SAIRC ends to rather run a series of Fun Events from then on rather than a set championship with people coming up with ideas for each individual rally. I could still run the results for the events but it lets others try these weird ideas they have.

I suggest, each fun event organized by a different member of the RBR Group!
Those events could be based on real local rallies from the country the organizer comes from!
He could also provide some info, so all of us to learn some things about rally events around the world, not so well known!
So all fun events will be teaching too! ;)

Interesting or not?

I could take over the presentation (graphics, leaderboards, e.t.c.) as long as every organizer sends me the event's data!
One fun event per month should be OK I guess...

That could be a nice idea - I certainly would have a couple of thoughts. On the other hand Bruce is currently doing a great job with this championship and it attracts a good number of entries and is presented brilliantly. It's almost like 'if its not broke, don't fix it'!

Like I said above, could be a good idea. However, personally I enjoy the championship feel as from my CMR2 experience you can actually use tactics i.e. know whether you should go flat out for the win, or get a steady 3rd to keep your championship place. It just adds a bit more as opposed to several flat-out events.

Indeed we did - you beat me by quite a lot on SS5, but otherwise it was very close (especially SS4 where me, you, and you2 were within 1s!).
