You can allready delete the S2000 of Dudu. I wonder how acurate that list is?

I've heard that Duval is doing the rally in a S2000 too.

It says he's on the start list in a Fiat Grande Punto, as is Loix.

Is a shame what "Clubs Sports da Madeira" does with his rally. This is one of the most important rallyes on the ERC and IRC and don't need these false promises to atract attention, this is negative attention.

All the lists of drivers were informed by the organization, the first list with the big names and the second list distributed yesterday without the big names. Is really dificult to believe what will happen when the organization has this kind of posture.

I repeat, it was not necessary to act like this. I'm portuguese and have a big respect for Madeira island and for the Madeira Wine Rally. I hope theu will learn the lesson (didn't leraned on past years) and hope the other organizations see what shouldn't be done.

Yes, I'm not sure whether a SA company built it or they did in Australia (Like the Australians work with SA team/company to build the S2000 Corolla) Good idea to ask an Australian here, as I forgot the answer.

Australian car is only allowed to compete in Australian Championship - it does not have homologation for international countries. Same with the Ford Fiesta that competes down there.

Australian Rally Championship let both cars into the series under a waiver, because they haven't met the FIA International S2000 requirements.

These cars only have national homologation through CAMS, the local body.

If Toyota South Africa gets a car, it will also be a national homologation, only for their country.

Ahhhh there we go! I just lost interest with the ARC, now bck to IRC im watching the Belgium rally, I have the next two rounds to watch and Belgium sure looks good, commentary has gotten better as well as coverage and its very interesting! Also now a fan, I am :p

Anyone got plans to head out to the final (I hope) round in China?

I thought that Toyota SA was internationally homologating the Auris like they have done with the exsisting Corolla..

milly

International homologation has to be done by the manufacturer.

Because the RunX (car used in SA in the past) was only built in SA, Toyota SA managed to 'sneak' through the FIA that way by claiming it was the manufacturer.

But the Auris is an international car, built in European factories, and that means Toyota Motor Corporation has to approve it.

Aha :)
Thanks for the clarification :)

Grant_RSA
13th August 2007, 16:36
Ill ask a few questions this weekend coming on our next national rally.

Milly i dont think your correct about the homologation, but i will ask the Toyota guys this weekend, im 99% sure the homologation is full FIA , toyota SA would not bother with it if it was not the correct spec. The head of Toyota motorsport in SA has been in Europe finalising the deal, with whom i dont know, but lets see what happens.

What will VW's excuse be for getting homologation? or is the Polo only built in SA as well??

HaCo
13th August 2007, 18:08
Both Polo and Corolla are build in SA, but they are run in Europe by Rene Georges and RED World Rally Team. Both teams also developed the tarmac version of the car, but spare parts come from South Africa, in both cases. For both cars at the moment it is a FIA homologation and I think it would be a very strange move if the Auris will not do the same way.

The cars in Australia are a different story, they are locally homologated and actually are still in development. I allways understood both teams (TRD and PIRTEK) wanted to use there cars in FIA championships, so they need to get it homologated, but if this will happen, who knows? They need to build a lot of cars for that...

Is the Autis a cooperation between TRD Australia and Toyota SA? Could you ask that please Grant_RSA?

Thanks.

At last weekends Rally South Australia, it was announced several times to the public that full FIA homologation for both the Corolla & Fiesta will be obtained by November. This is to allow both makes of cars eligible to compete directly at FIA APRC & WRC rounds next year.

This was also in line with constant announcements that both Fiesta cars are now on sale for the 2008 season at approx. A$350,000 fully homologated.

soon you will see The VW Polo S 2000 back in action again in Europe.
Loix will continue in Belgium and Alberto Hevia is driving in Spain.
You all should not forget that the Asphalt version of the Polo S 2000 does not even exist 1 year ! work started only 2 weeks before the Condroz Rally 2006, and now the car is ok, and all the spare parts are availeble... this was not the case in the beginning of the year. VW in IRC / ERC is not a factory team with the same support as Fiat and Peugeot.... but many forget this.... Rene Georges Rallysport is a private team with private money...

i unfortuantely did not get to chat to the toyota people on last weekends event, but did get to talk to one of the head VW technicians, as far as he knows the Auris will have FIA homologation, permission has been given by Toyota headoffice already, so Milly lets see if your correct.

There are currently 5 Polos under construction, 3 for Europe and 2 for Australia is sounds like.

Well unfortunately had time to spectate a bit after we fell out of the rally early, watching the Toyotas and VW's here are something to behold, awesome is not the word.

Just some useless info, on the last event, at the end of day 1, the first 7 cars all S2000's were seperated by 6 sec .The eventual winner won by 20 sec, 2nd and 3rd seperated by 1 sec.

"Alen was making excellent progress, when he found some loose gravel under braking for a slippery corner. The car slid off the road, and while it is not believed to be badly damaged, the young Finn was unable to continue.
Abarth team principal Claudio Berro said: "It is a real shame for Anton, who had been doing a fantastic job. Now we will get the car back to the service park and assess the damage. All being well, we hope to be able to re-start Anton tomorrow so he can gain more experience on asphalt."

http://www.racingworld.it/rally/notizia.php?idtitolo=4667

That’s true. In the newest issue of the finnish rally magazine “Vauhin maailma” is an article about IRC and in the article they say that the IRC organisation has contacted the organisation of the Arctic Lapland Rally and asked them if they are interested to arrange an IRC event. The arranger of the Artic Lapland Rally said that it’s OK but depends on how much money the IRC want for the registration to the IRC series.

Rumors are that Toyota is planning to contest the IRC this season.
Grifone should get a Auris S2000 from Australia.the whole project is could move to Italy.
The drivers??????
Well, its the former European champion Fabrizio Tabaton and Auriol

The Australian Auris is not FIA homologated, so it can't be used. From the last I ead TRP Australia did not plan to homologate it.
Still I don't know why you have 2 importers developing the same car for the same purpose...

Still I hope it's true and we see the Auris in IRC!

Thats how I understood the article, maybe they will be driving the old Corolla S2000...although I dont see a works(or semi-works) team running an old model in the IRC...
But we all hope that it wont be like last year when they planned to run the IRC.

They plan to get the homologation done just before Rally Portugal, and than maybe Auriol would drive the Auris.

In the IRC regulations( http://www.ircseries.com/html/Sporting_Regulations.asp ) it is said that any driver with a car produced by an IRC entered manufacter is eligible to score points.
Subaru isnt entered in the IRC and I see no drivers with a Subaru at the final standings.
Does this mean you cant score points with a Subaru???

So, according to Pluto, Travaglia will start in IRC in Island Motorsport team with Punto S2000 from Trico Motors.

Good news about Travaglia in IRC, he will be a good addition to the championship. Doubt he will be a championship contender but he would probably be stronger over a whole season than Navarra was.

Mirek
19th February 2008, 15:24
In my opinion he will be very serious contender. He knows most of the rallys very well and is very constant on speed. If he has more luck than previous year, he will be high in point ranking.

In the Belgium carmagazine 'Autonews' they're saying now that Travaglia would compete for Abarth in the Italian Rally Championship. Is that true? I hope not.

I think Renato is now a very happy man. It was a kind of lottery prize that he has received in the last moment.Yes, He was planning to do IRC, if I'm not wrong there are two Italian rallys in equal dates of IRC. Remember, last season Basso did Rali Vinho Madeira despite his main goal in CIR, who knows if Renato can do the same, maybe a tarmac round of the IRC, Alen is not a tarmac specialist
