Today's Motorsport News contains it's 2007 National Racing Calendar. Each series/championship is assigned a number for identification purposes and the number for the SCSA V8 Trophy is......

13

On the street I live in , the numbering goes 11,12,14....... no 13, no 12a.

Also, from Wikipedia:

Some buildings such as One Canada Square in Canary Wharf (the tallest building in the UK) number their floors so as to skip the thirteenth floor entirely, jumping from the 12th floor to the 14th floor in order to avoid distressing triskaidekaphobics, or the building will have 12th floor and floor 12a or 12b instead. Many hotel/casino megaresorts in Las Vegas also lack a 13th floor. This is often applied to home or hotel room numbers as well, and the same is also true of rows in airplanes, as well as cabins aboard cruise ships.

In motorsport, are there any series which actively avoid allocating the number 13? Do you have a choice if you're allocated it?

Oi - leave it! stick to the karaoke!

Even F1 don't use the bakers dozen

Until this year with frontrow Joe, Nascar hasn't used the #13 for the last 6 years ... and its back to the seventies to find someone running a full season using the unlucky number!

Unlike the perfect number of course ... ;)

Some skyscraper designs have a mechanical floor on level 13, so nobody has to have an office there (apart from maintenance staff!)

My house number is 13.....some strange things happen here.

Our house is the only one in the street with bats in the roof (approx 80)

I always end up with the same recycle boxes and wheely bin back on rubbish collection days...... :)

My Gas and electric bill doubled this quarter....... :) :)

To be honest I would say that the number 13 is more lucky to me that unlucky...after saying that I never walk under ladders and I touch wood quite a lot!

Cheers
John

My old man had the number 13 when he raced in Monoposto in the early 90's, he never fininshed a race and had the biggest accident ever and it finished his racing days.

In China, they have the same superstition about the number 4. Apparently, the word for "death" sounds very similar & in many buildings there are no floors 4, 14, 24, 40 etc.

No matter how much I sand, the No.12 keeps coming back to the surface.

And that b* blue paint.

Pass the paint stripper.....

On the subject of numbers, isn't 13 a lucky number in some parts of the world?

We consider 13 unlucky as it's not divisible by two, therefore you end up with 6 pairs and an "unlucky one" left over.

Buy hey, there can be only ONE winner, and that number doesn't divide by two!

No, I'm not changing my number.
