Hey guys, I ran this last year(and the year before!), I though you might like some history...

We played using the WRC games, and last year it was a 2 part event using race and rally, and was won by 306 Cosworth. in 2004 it was won by Mixa using the same format as in the real Roc, on the argentina superspecial.

:)

Mad cat jnr
10th December 2006, 11:53
I was thinking (and yes it did hurt) that i will split it into two groups if theres enough people. One group race on one track with the cars I name, and the other on a other track. Then the final uses a different track.

As for the nations cup, they are just one group (or maybe two depending on numbers) and they do a knockout style event, with the last two teams using 3 new tracks. Sound as good too you as it did in my head?

hehe, many Aussie tracks I see.. I race in any track but I hate bathurst because the end is hard and in the middle section you just bounce up to everywhere. Its totally aint my fav and yes I would have liked to DTM´s too. Maybe as the cars could have been DTM,GT(british or tuning car),some rally car,Clio´s,GT Lights or baja buggies. I was just thinking the real RoC and them cars what has been seen on the past and now.

Anyway same for me! will you do run it with real RoC system(2 sides: pairs and other will be eliminated. With 2 wins you go throught but we race 3 times just in case if its 1-1 after 2 runs and then the winner advances and we have national and driver of the drivers competition) or do we just race the tracks and cars you give and then post the times and quickest will win and the team comp. results will be based to points the team gots for results? Its might have been mentioned somewhere but Im too lazy :) .

Anyway looking up to this and good luck for everyone!

I've just managed to find an extra 2 seconds of pace around bathurst in v8's. :D

1 secons through set-up and another with a tweak to my driving style that requires use of the handbrake.

However i'm still over a few second off the tmes that the Aussies can achieve there. :(

The rules should be the same for everyone, It's not just Vuko who is quick at Bathurst. I'm just rubbish at V8 supercars in general. There not edgy enough for my liking, I like cars where you can feel the limt of grip.

Have you got times for the last round Madcat jnr?

Mixa
23rd December 2006, 11:27
hehe, will become a hard one with P.Vuko . MG V8´s is a good class but it makes it even harder as its on Sandown. Indy cars in Indianapolis is anybody´s game and you should be able to drive alone all race long or your done as even with normal setups CPU drivers have some probs in few corners but one good slipstream can take this battle to you so its anyones race. Rallying should also be ok to me as I have driven it quite often. Also its quite tricky so this will truly make a difference. What comes to Vuko dont know has he driven much rallying in ToCa but if I need to quess,I say no :P .

A lot of good drivers are still up and a few will drop out now. Also our ´´lucky loser´´ have good changes to win the whole RoC.

Good luck for everyone! I hope to see good races up on this. MadCat jnr. whats the deadline for submitting times?? Im just thinking as christmas and new year are here soon and if some of these guys are getting new games or even consoles it might drop intrest a little bit more.

No I haven't done any of the races - I haven't even unlocked the Indycars or rally cars so I might struggle! I will have to try & unlock them in the next few days !! I hope the times are not due in for a while - Xmas & New Year makes it difficult.

Just sent in my times for the RoC events. I'll have to concede the rally event to Mixa because I haven't unlocked the cars but I did the MG V8's & the Indy cars. Not real confident about beating Mixa this time but you never know!

Done my races....the MG ZR's are one of the worst rally sims I've come across, esp whjen you consider this is the exact same car that's been in the last 3 Colin McRae games for the PS2.

The Indycars were great - been playing Nascar 07 recently, so i'm into the Oval racing.

The XPower V8s went well, although I can't say i liked the car much!!

Mixa
2nd January 2007, 16:04
I will send me times now so soon we will get known will P.Vuko beat me.. I think he will as MG V8´s feeled quite badly(used the stock settings so didnt accepted upgrades) and Indy cars are anybodys game. What comes to rally it didnt feeled too good neither but as Vuko havent driven them too much I think I may have a change.

After christmas when I got the new game Fifa 07 my intrest to Toca was a bit down.

Anyway good luck Vuko! I wish to see a tight battle :)

well done JB, Mad Cat can you post the results. I most likely won Indy, but I'd like to see how close it really was. the MG cars were quite fun to drive. and the rally was badass.

Have completed round 2 of the ROC, and i think that is as far as I will progress.
Hated, Hated, hated the Rally stages, and couldn't get myself to even complete them !!
The Indy race went ok, as did the MG at Sandown, but i think Homer will come out on top.

It would be really interesting to have ALL of the times at the end of the round, Madcat.

3rd January 2007, 10:29
The secret to the MG ZR rally cars, even in 'defualt' settings is don't brake! You need to get the thing moving and then just lift for a few turns - that sharp left by what I think is meant to be Chatsworth House dfrom the old RAC Rally SSS can be taken in second but you really have to line it up.

Easily the worst rally physics i've come across - even WRC2 was slightly more realistic!

I think my downfall could be the MGV8...didn't like that at all.

Brown, Jon Brow
3rd January 2007, 13:50
Pleased to win!! It would be harsh on Bobzee if he goes out when I go through afeter he beat me. (not that I'm complaining :p ) Hopefully I can make it to the final.

I enjoyed all the events in this round, even the rallying. The speed for most corners can be controlled with engine braking unless it's a hairpin or 2nd gear corner. However, Nicky Grists pace notes are often called too late! The physics are inproved if you use pro-sim handling but are still no-where near the same level as Colin Mcrae.

I bet harvick is an oval specilist :p

I'll run my races tonight but won't be back on the computer until tomorrow morning bright & early eastern US time.

the Indy cars I'll do good on but the other two are pretty much a joke. I don't know that sand track at all and I suck at rallying. but I'm having fun and maybe I'll squeek through to the next round somehow. like, if my competitior doesn't show up!

johnny shell
3rd January 2007, 15:52
oh yeah... in the rally cars... when the co-driver says "corner 3" or whatever, what does the "3" mean?

harvick#1
3rd January 2007, 17:15
1 is the a hairpin or 90 degree turn and 5 is a slight turn,

the numbers are ranked on how hard the turn is, turn 3 is a inbetween and most likely will need to brake alittle bit.

Mixa
3rd January 2007, 17:43
The RoC is just for fun and its truly ok if I am eliminated :) . I knew the opponent will be good and even waited a loss to Sandown race. Also said that Indy cars are anybodys game and one slipstream can pass you a win. Rally cars were probably the only what makes a huge difference.

P.Vuko is a good driver and deserves to go through. For the V8 and DTM battles ´´last year´´ I knew its will be tight but the biggest difference to championship races are the fact you have to pick the right pit strategy and keep lap times consistant.

Yup the last results posting was better where you was able to see where your opponent beaten you :P .

oh yeah... in the rally cars... when the co-driver says "corner 3" or whatever, what does the "3" mean?

THe number said is the suggested gear number. So " 3 right" would be a 3rd gear right hander. ;)

On more realistic rally sims thay would say " 100 - 3 right" '100' being the distance to the corner.

Another system is instead of gear number the co-driver say 'easy right'

easy---------6th
medium flat--5th
medium------4th
hard---------3rd
open hairpin--2nd
hairpin-------1st
handbrake----1st+handbrake.

I'm good on the short tracks, but the Karts are a sweet drive. but I'm not good with Open Wheel cars, unless they are on an oval.

I'm sure the Indy race was very close, but Toca really made it fake as you can't run those speeds without braking through the corners, the real IRL cars run around 214 average MPH, not 230 :mark:

I knew you had me at Sandown as I not very good on any of the Aussie tracks except for Oran Park, Surfers Park, and Adalaide (sp?) which is 3 out of 5 :mark:

But I played WRC on PS2, I play it on PSP all the time, and GT4 was basically the same rally style like in Toca, so I know my ins and outs of rallying.

times submitted. indy was fun, but I don't see how anyone got to do any slip streaming in a 4 lap race with the ai set to 100%!

this was my first experience in rally cars... so... well it was fun anyway.

those v8 MGs... wow. I never thought I would get a handle on those cars around that track. had one hell of a time getting pole and leading the first lap, which I knew was the only way to at least have a chance or winning. I ended up finishing 3rd in the race and was pretty happy with that.

Peter Vuko
24th January 2007, 11:20
Finally got a chance to complete the 3 events. I'm glad they were all Default settings because you did not have to worry about car set up. The pitting in all the events made it interesting - you lost about 20secs if you only took on 1 lap of fuel - no need to take on tyres in any of the events. The V8's went very well & I think my time will be hard to beat. The FAP open wheelers were much slower on Default set up. Set ups make a huge difference on these cars - I could not get near my times from the FAP Rd we had here not long a go, but still I think I did quite well. The Rally could be interesting - they are fun but need a lot of concentration to get good times.

Brown, Jon Brow
24th January 2007, 11:27
