You'll notice that the submission date is the Wednesday - simple reason, I'm moving from the 28th to the 30th and will only be back on the 1st of July so I'll only get to do results then, or on the Friday. So just submit as normal, but my activity will be low for those few days.

Traditionally this is a rally with long stages and run in the dry and dusty conditions so enjoy.

Very short Itenerary...! Sure you haven't forgot any stages? :D
Is It similar to the real one?

Bruce D
21st June 2010, 09:06
Yeah thats the whole event - it's still 41 km so it'll still keep you busy. The real one only had 3 stages on the 1st day, including a 57km stage, and 10 on the 2nd, so it's close. It ends with a superspecial (which nearly decided the rally this year), so its closely modelled on the real event.

lcd

...including a 57km stage...

I guess that's what they call endurance!!! :D

Thanks for the Info!

Yeah this year the top 3 going in all crashed out on the stage. Apparently the stage is extremely rough too in places so that makes it interesting as well.

Im in aswell.

I will be driving the 207 S2000 for a change, its a shame to see such a motorsport icon brand down in Manufacter points, I will try to give some points to Peugeot.

Finished my runs last night. Was a good event, first and second stages went very well, but I missed a junction left on SS3 (very late call from the other seat) and slid into some badly placed spectactors so lost time there and then spun earlier in the stage too. SS4 was ok and SS5 went fine, but the time didn't seem to be there and I'm not sure why. Anyway, finished so I'm happy.

You are quite aggressive on the Oz stages, Bruce..

It is so easy to get sucked into the speed of these stages. They flow very nicely, then you are hit with a key right or left, or a decreasing radius turn and you are off in the trees...

I'm not In a good shape lately! This was another bad rally for me!
Very long and exhausting stages with many mistakes and East West II
probably the worst performance so far In SAiRC!
After a point, I lost counting off roads! For once more,
Australian stages prooved themselves the most demanding stages In the game!

Yeah they suit my style of driving and setup so it works well. Speaking of decreasing radius corners, there was one in NewBobs that nearly had me, went in and I thought I'd scrubbed off too much speed but I was actually bang on line for the exit but the note said nothing about tightening. Actually I found the notes on East-West II to be too fast of the corners so I backed off a bit there, the crash on Newbobs II was just bad pacenotes, and the spin was my fault so I'm not too unhappy.

Macd, I've noted your change. Thought it would be interesting seeing 2 N4 cars going for it.

@ LCD, hehe, that last pic is what I call corner-cutting big time! :D

OK, sent in my results.

No major drama at any stage, everything went quite smooth.
But I don't know if it was fast, I took it with some caution.

Still a nice rally.

How do you change the skins of the cars in RSRBR? There is a skin manager in the program but I don't know how to import them into the game.

I don't know how others do it but I just replace the texture files in car folders directly. It is in the RBR root folder and under folder Cars. Ofcourse I make the copy incase I make a mistake.

Anyway I have finished the rally. Nothing major happened but I did have problems with understeer on SS4 which resulted some close calls. Also on the last stage I couldn't find a good rhytm and foolishly picked short gearing for this one resulting possibly a quite poor stage time.

I import the skins from the rallyesim site, then go to skins manager to the correct marque folder, you can then drag and drop ( I believe)

Had been very busy in the last 2 weeks, so this was a nice little entertaining break. I drove very well in the first two stages, but made small mistakes in all the remaining three. Luckily no major accidents though, even though I banged hard into a tree sideways on East West II.

I've saved my replays, so probably will upload them tomorrow or day after. Off to hit the sack now.

Ran day 1 this morning. A bit slow on soem technical session, and lightly bumped a dirt wall at the final key left on New Bobs, but otherwise a good day.

Will run day 2 tonight...

Finished the rally.

SS1-2: The first day was mostly fine. Just had a roll on New Bobs towards the end but luckily landed on four wheels and no damage was caused.

SS3: It started off very well and I got into a good rhythm. Unfortunately, I slid wide at a tight left hander and collided with the spectators on the outside of the corner. With the penalty, I lost 20 seconds I believe.

SS4: Bad stage. A minor spin and an overshoot didn't bother me too much in the opening few kms but, pushing hard to make up for those incidents, I fell down a ditch where I had to call for help. Fortunately, the car got away unharmed again, but more time had been lost with penalties.

SS5: This should have been a walk in the park. But it wasn't. I was quite frustrated from SS4's accident so thought I would give this little test a blast. After the first few corners there is a "double watersplash" (one following the other in quick succession). I approached the first one, inclined too far left. The car became unbalanced and I spun. I quickly got back in action but overshot the K-left due to a major slip in concentration. The final sector was fine, decent even.

Overall, I'm 50-50 over the rally. I know I had good pace in parts but, as usual, I made some mistakes which will ruin my final rally time (mostly due to the call for help penalties). However, I think this rally went a lot better than some of my other runs, incident-wise. I just need to learn to cool down and get the car through the stages error-free, but I feel I am progressing well in that direction and that this rally was a good step forward.

It will not break my heart if we do not see the East West stage again for a long, long time....

To comment on my event, well its a pity I went off and spun on SS3 otherwise I would have had a sensational rally - as it was I'm very happy with my pace on this event, really had confidence going into this one and learnt how to attack more.

I am truly missing something on the 2nd and third intermediates of East West :(

Pity on your spin, Bruce. for certain 4th and maybe third would have been yours

Well I was 38sec behind 2nd in the end and lost 42sec to the same person on that stage - by my maths 2nd was mine, let alone 3rd or 4th. Now got to see if I can improve on those mistakes. As for you, your runs were neat.

Hehe yeah thought I'd go mad on this event and see where I stood and I'm happy.

Paul writes:

"What a great, close rally chaps – that was tense right through the field.

Francis, you simply blizted us – very well done man.

Flip the rest of us had a right old scuffle hey – brilliant.

Poor Bruce, running so well, pity man, but still a good result as you can see your pace was there.

Tannat – wow, great drive, LCD fell off the wagon somewhere, poor result by your standards.

I was thrilled to be abale to claw my way back to 2nd overall after a bad run on SS2, I was only expecting a 3rd or 4th in this rally. So I’m chuffed."

Really? I need to look at that. Strange, I remember being on the limit through the easy corners but I braked early for the corner at the end of that flat out section. Guess the rest of you were cruising there.

At the second intermediate you were over 14 seconds behind myself and NeverKnow.

You finished the stage level pegging with NeverKnow and 3 clicks ahead of me...

If I am calcualting it correctly you were faster than Francis on the final sector by ten seconds.

Perhaps NeverKnow and I both made errors...

Bruce D
4th July 2010, 10:16
Wow, so I really was flying. I'll check whether I recorded my split time properly, sometimes I mix those up. I don't see how I could have made up that much time on such a fast section of the stage, especially as I was making sure I didn't mess anything up.
