It's pretty warm at Oulton Park. Bit cloudy and overcast though. Storms later?

Chilton still looks pretty quick despite the new restrictor on the Focus.

Andrew Jordan will have an engine change between FP2 and qualifying.

I doubt it. It's been like this here for the last few days. Might get a bit of rain around 4.30-5ish but I'd be surprised if its anything heavier today.

Tom Onslow-Cole on Pole for race 1, loving the new sliver wheels on the Team Aon Focuses (is it me or do they look bigger than the black ones?)

Well done to Tom Onslow-Cole for grabbing pole position. Gordon Shedden looking pretty good in second place. Very close between all the top four.
Paul o'Neill did a good job to get 8th place having only had one qualifying run. I guess Andrew Jordan must have had mechanical issues.
A small mention to Lea Wood doing well in 13th.

Its amazingly close between the top 4, should be a great race 1 tomorrow!

Andrew Jordan indeed had engine trouble in practise and they couldnt fix it in time for qualy so should be fun watching him come through.

And as you say Lea Wood has done well, he seems to have settled straight into the BTCC with no problem at all :)

Every race meeting this year in the weeks running up to them Andrew Jordan has said he will get wins or podiums and he has failed to do so at all the meetings so far, looks like this one will be the same

It was a bit of a disappointing qualy session for Martin Johnson, I presume he had some sort of problem to be that far off the pace, Good Luck to him this weekend and I hope he can grab some results in light of recent events.

Btw, Trebor901, do you actually like the BTCC or are you just here to slag it off all the time? Try to be at least SLIGHTLY positive.

Hardly his fault though is it this weekend

Still has a chance if he can make decent progress through the field in race 1 and get a decent spot for race 2 or the reverse grid in 3.

Just got back from oulton park and was a great day.

Plato and MacDowell and the Silverline Chevy team did a fan of there's proud top job from them

Shame about O'Neill ... think is Honda saw the RAF parashoot team and got excited.

Jackson was bloody lucky with his off in qualifying

Shame about jordon not getting out but will see how he gets on in race 1.

and i have to give a shoot out to johnson ... considering the tough week past you did well mate ... you did your dad proud...welll done :)

the races were great as well...congrats to all the winners. :D

yes i do like BTCC but i dont like drivers who promise stuff they know they cant really deliver at least if he stopped saying it before every single race weekend then it wouldnt get to the point of being boring to hear him saying it

Agreed, and they look fantastic at speed! - http://www.touring-cars.net/wpg2-2?g2_itemId=1376. In general I love how OP produces great photographs, hope it stays sunny tomorrow although it is getting increasingly cloudy...!

Those air restrictors in the Fords don't seem to have made all that much difference, they're still topping the speed traps by 1-2 mph.

Has it crossed your mind that Colin TRIED to get a drive in the BTCC but the only sponsors he could get involved with wanted to do the WTCC instead.

Andrew Jordan meanwhile had engine problems, so you can't exactly blam him and can I just point out that many drivers in the past have gone from the back of the grid to the front in 1 race let alone a whole race weekend.

I wish you would find out the facts before you start ranting about these subjects.

No qualifying lap record this time though - unlike at Brands Hatch and Rockingham.

DNF Tom Boardman
DNS Paul o'Neill

Pretty good battles throughout the field in that race and pretty clean racing, the only exception being Mat Jackson's poor move on Jason Plato, Jackson dived in too late for a gap that was already closing.
Tom Onslow-Cole took a good win absorbing plenty of pressure from Gordon Shedden. Rob Collard also looking good. With three BMWs in the top 6 they'll be ones to watch in race two.

MrJan

Plato should be livid, Jackson had no chance of getting up the inside there. Tense race though, even without the SC they were still running close together.

Chaos at the start of the porsches there, amazing that only one person is out!

I quite miss Angry Jason sometimes, but he knows he's in with a genuine shot at the title and I suspect this plays a big part in his mind management.

No point wasting precious mental energy ranting about a fait accompli when you can just let the stewards do their job and concentrate on preparations for the next race.

Plato coming through from 10th place to win the race though a couple of his moves left a lot to be desired, shoving Mat Jackson (expected after race 1) and Tom Onslow-Cole out of the way. I feel sorry for Rob Collard, getting hit by Alex MacDowall after being punted into that spin on lap 1 after Tom Chilton hit having been hit himself by Mat Jackson.

I enjoyed seeing Lea Wood, John George, Alex MacDowall and Dave Pinkney fighting. Shame Wood's car got so badly damage, he could have got his first points.

Alex MacDowall gets pole position.

some fantastic battling all day long, BTCC never fails to thrill.

I really feel sorry for Tom Boardman and Alex Mcdowell, but that's racing.

for a track where overtaking is very difficult, the entertainment factor was still there with some great fights.

Yup! My sentiments exactly

Race 3 was a nail-biter. MacDowell was showing great promise until the mech problem. Then Boardman put up some class defending in that Leon. How did his steering become damaged anyway? Was it the contact with Neal?

Also, big thumbs up to Steven Kane for pushing so hard in the closing stages and to James Nash for keeping his head and getting a deserved podium.

i think it was Andy Neate because Andy Jordan was gesturing to a WSR BMW and it definately wasnt Collard.

Matt Neal drove great today i think and a well deserved victory. Tom Boardmans retirement was a strange one, actually both front wheels flapping around with broken suspension

Wow thanks for the images, who needs TV coverage? Also, It shows how much better the Pirtek livery is compared to the S***e WSR one....

I really enjoyed the mad scrap that was going on with John George, Dave Pinkney, Alex MacDowell and Lea Wood. With all that damage to the cars it reminded me of the old days (2002-05) when the cars would always be scrapping like that.

Tbh, sometimes I think its a shame that the drivers seem to have grown up somewhat..... oh well

I wondered that at first too but I think that the angle of the photos and the fact that contact had already been made means that we can't really tell. The people that handed out the penalty will have studied camera footage from all available angles and the in-car from both drivers.
