I don't know what the hell they're supposed to be, but they look like rejects from Yo Gabba Gabba!

I think they are supposed to be shards of metal from the Olympic stadiums roof, but no I dont get it either. :s Although I did quite like their names. I was expecting the mascots be be lions, dragons and whatever animal they could ting of to symbolise Scotland.

If they are supposedly designed to appeal to children, then why not use something British and cuddly, like a hedgehog or something?

Looking at them, I am not reminded of England or the Games at all...more like Gay Pride week in New Orleans!

I quite like them, mainly because I like anything which makes people go "ffnarf ffnarf, what are they? how much did they cost? ridiculous." :D

I could care less about the logo but it was only the other day when I realised it says 2012 and then noticed the Lisa Simspon thing.

If Jerry Falwell was still alive, he'd be making a speech about how the UK was fostering homosexuality with these Teletubby-like creatures. It would pain me to agree with anything Jerry said, but these things do look pretty stupid, IMO.

That aside, every mascot for every Olympics or World Cup or other sporting even looks terrible to cynical grown-up eyes, they're purely a marketing gimmick to catch the eye of children and excitable tourists. At least we've avoided the usual cartoon anthropomorphised representation of the national animal that usually get churned out for these things.

Seeing as the Teletubbies have been an enormous commercial success across half the globe I hardly think the creators would be offended at you making the comparison. As above, its a marketing gimmick to sell merchandise to children, if they get the same reaction as Tinky Winky and his friends did then its mission accomplished.
