Here is something you don't see every day...and I hope like heck they find the family somehow but I think it is bad news. It isn't every day the earth can collapse in a combination landslide/sinkhole like this...

I am sure they will have an explaination for it....but a high water table and the wrong sorts of soil...and maybe some settling..and voila, the earth gives way....
