3 Italians on Podium... this says everything about the CIR level!

Yep, but still very long rally to go.

What happened to Kopecky?

ZequeArgentina
24th September 2010, 21:47
Probably night, fog, chnging gripare best things for a local (obviously with talent) when you can most get advantage of high local knowledge.

Congratulations for Basso, I am waiting for Loix to see if he can climb up a little to fight with Meeke and Juho

Top 3 = in 17secs after 1Hr16 rallying. Top 3 IRC = in 12secs.
Competition has just started.

Okay, the Italians are a bit in front, so what? :)

A real shake-up of a stage. Meeke might just make it to P3 tomorrow but unless we have big drama tomorrow it'll be an Italian victory.

FAlonso

]Magalhães was 1 sec. km slowers than Basso... not so good time, normal time for him I think

Yes but Magalhães was on inters (or wets??) and Basso was on cut slicks. Not to mention the difference in knowledge between him and most others.

RS
24th September 2010, 21:59
unfortunatelly i cannot... in public.

Ok, but the bigger shame for me was not Scandola but that Abarth did not run Rossetti alongside Basso full time in IRC. Things could have been quite different.

Must have been disappointing (maybe embarassing, it was so unlucky) for the sponsors who came out from Norway to spectate:

Hanninen is impressing, he is smashing his teammate and is up there with the best on asphalt, not bad for a gravel-man !

The Abarth is also impressing on asphalt again. They just need to improve the gravel development, and it is a real contender again !

Kris Meeke is officially out of the title race, which leaves only Jan Kopecky to beat Juha Hanninen, but only if he wins Scotland and Cyprus, and Hanninen not scoring higher than 3rd. But I assume Skoda Motorsport wil not do Cyprus, probarly not even Scotland?

Ucci
25th September 2010, 14:13
Another glorius victory for Andreucci&Andreussi!! I repeated several times and I'll do it again: Paolo Andreucci belongs to a company of ten world best rally drivers!!!!
To be honestly-even Basso&Rossetti (speaking for Italy)can not catch him when he is on attack. Otherwise a very good rally for both Abarth boys-yust this bad luck at the end destroyed their hopes for podium.
Also a big congratulations to Sandro Sottile-it has been exactly one year when he was last time behind a steering-wheel of a rally car and withouth any practice he demolished Clio's R3 drivers! Also a very good, promising debut of a Citroën DS3 R3T-this car has a potential to be first in a R3 class.
I'm very happy for a rally veteran Mr.Franco Cunico- a rally withouth technical problems and a good result for a 53-years old driver! A change from Punto to P207 made a big progress and some smile on Cunico's face.
And now to disappointments of this race: Piero Longhi, Andrea Navarra, Alessandro Perico (winner of this event in 2005), Marco Signor and also Jan Kopecky (he succeeded yust two second fastest stages times, this is way to less to become an IRC champion). I know all those drivers have some excuses (as always..) but yust a short look on stage times says that they have lost constantley time compare to Ucci&Hanninen!
So-FORZA UCCI !!!!!!!

Last few stages on last two IRC rallies has proved to be nerve-breaking - of course depending on which angle you're looking at it. I'm happy to see Juho taking another second position, though it came this time as well with the help of unluck and failures of other competitors. However, he has definitely proved progress on tarmac and hopefully he can capitalize it later in coming years. His IRC title is now practically sealed. Also nice to see a new winner in IRC 2010. Congratulations to Ucci.

Skoda not going to the final two events, Juho Champion: “After the Manufacturers Competition
where we secured victory earlier on, we have now accomplished another major goal by
winning the Drivers Competition, and I wish to congratulate our Finnish crew and all of the
team members on this achievement. At the moment we are not planning to appear at the
remaining two events as a complete factory team, but the decision regarding our further

Think there's a wee bit hope there, Hrabanek is not saying a definite no and mentions "not a complete factory team" so maybe one car at least in Scotland.

Yeah.. another nice rally. Yesterday evening I was thinking about writing that Loix will win this event again :-P I was not that far with my prediction ;-)

New small Citroen looks like the other lower level cars.. a lot of problems at the beginning. Final result complete disaster/failure.

Yeah, I think there is a possibility to see Juho at least in Scotland which is economically more valuable and also all those live stages. Cyprus does not look very popular event so far. But there is still some time and maybe some people from Northern Europe like to extend their summer there :-P

I wonder if Kopecky knew before the race that Skoda were unlikely to go to Scotland or Cyprus and lost his motivation?

It's a real shame he had those accidents on Azores and Barum otherwise the title would have been much more of a fight.

It will be interesting to see what Skoda do for the rest of the year, maybe they will send Hanninen to Scotland for a "lap of honour" as Skoda UK are also sponsoring the event.

Pretty poor again from Skoda. They only had one car there last year, for Wilks. Surely the least they could do is support the event by sending the full factory team. The organising team must be pulling their hair out - last year was a poor entry, and now it looks as though Skoda won't bother. I just hope they change their mind.
The downside of not having to do every event - and the points system.

Maxrally are reporting that Skoda will send Hanninen to Scotland so maybe Wilks will drive the second works car there. Perhaps they will send Kopecky to WRC Catalunya or something?

I do wonder whether it would be better to have a slightly shorter calendar and no drop scores though, maybe 8 events?

Don't think that works team will start with Pirelli anywhere. If there is some WRC start than under another team, not official like with Hänninen's starts.
