Quite long stages for this one! Must be really exhausting!
I accept the challenge! ;)

Should be an interesting event. I will participate but I will not send my entry just yet because I haven't decided what car to use.

After a no-show in the latest WRC round, I'm back at the wheel for this one. I do plan to do some practice on the Finland stages at least. I'm not that familiar with them, particularly in gravel guise.

Oh and guys, this time, please do the stages on the schedule, not ones you think I mean and make me cancel a third of the rally again like Finland! :p ;)

Well, this would be my first ever attempt in this cup or any RBR event online. So, wish me luck! :D Bruce, I'll send you the details once I've decided on which car to use. Still pretty new to RSRBR, so I'd probably need some time (in between work) to get familiarized.

Welcome to you X-ecutioner. Generally people seem to always find someone to have a dice with. Certainly when it comes to the S2000 cars I fear some people more than I did when this thing started. Taking it easy is not going to be an option on this event.

Bruce D

BTW the results book for Finland has been emailed to those that asked for it. If anyone else wants it, let me know.

I've spent so little time playing the original RBR I really have no conception as to what is the default stage :D

Love these stages. Very little to contact. You just floor it and GO!!!

Ok if you say so... Personally there is one tree in Noiker that absolutely loves me regardless of what and I consider it a personal victory if I make it past that part without hitting the forementioned tree.

I think it is off a medium right, about at the apex- I know the one

No it's on the outside of a corner, somehow I always miss the note on the corner and go in too quickly and head-on into the tree.

Is it a flat left going into a medium left, and the tree is on the outside of that? Well, that tree almost ALWAYS gets me, and I brake excessively every time to avoid it.

Bruce D
22nd April 2010, 14:39
Ah I know THAT tree well too, but no, this is a medium Right - think the direction we're going on this event it's a easy right tightens into K left and it nails me on the tightening part.

Neverknow in a group N4 car?

Are the rest of us missing something?

Bruce D

We've had events before where it was S2000 cars vs N4 cars and it was still pretty even.

I tried an N4 and found it not quite as fast as the S2000..

but I don't drive as well as NKnow...

It was a mixed event for me. The opening stage went OK: I had a two spin and a stall but, on such a long stage, it might not be so bad for us. The next two stages went fine. But SS4 was a disaster. 1km into the stage, I hit a tree at high speed and damaged the gearbox. Luckily, the engine was still running, though I was now stuck in 4th gear. I pumped as much ignition in as I could and managed to get to the end of the stage. It was better than serving a super-rally penalty I guess, especially when the stage is fairly short. I got back on the limit for SS5 and, again, nothing major to report. The final blast through Frazier Wells was great fun but I had a few hairy moments at high speed - none of which harmed my motor, only my well-being.

Results-wise, I don't know what to expect. However, I did feel on the limit at several points throughout the event. Therefore, if my overall position isn't satisfactory, I at least expect some sector times to do my performance justice. Either way, I enjoyed the rally :D

Finished my runs last nite. First 2 stages went well and clean, but the next 2 had spins so not too clean. Settled down for the last 2 which went ok but I was a bit too hesitant on the last one and lost time there.

Finished my rally. It was very fast and flowy at places and I really enjoyed it.
I did not have any major incidents, just few small ones on Sikakama stages when running wide on some of the long corners. I mostly didn't pay attention to the stopwatch but concentrated on working on my driving lines and braking. The car worked perfectly and I didn't have any issues with it.
Overall I don't know how fast I was on this rally but I hope I was not too far off the pace of S2000 cars. I'll post some media from my rally tomorrow if I get time. Will wait for the final result.

Bruce D
26th April 2010, 06:42
I've been requested for an extension until Wednesday mid-night which I've granted (the reasons behind the request were not pleasant), so anyone else can have until then as well. Macd, if you don't submit times by Thursday morning I'll take it you didn't make it. ;)

Finished the rally and It was a very demanding one!
Had no serious problems, apart from some childish mistakes In ss3
which must have cost me about 15 secs and a side crush on a tree just before finish In Noiker!
The Finnish stages gave me some hard times - especially Kaihuavaara I and Sikakama I -
because there were so twisty, I couldn't stay In high speeds for a long time! Funny this Is,
I found the same stages reversed, easier!!!
Overall, It's been a pleasure racing this one! Hope for the best results!

Bruce, any clues on results so far? :D

Only got results for 6 of the 10 people so far. Was pretty close but looks like it's been settled on SS5 but i'm still missing some top guys so we'll see how it all ends.

CaptainRaiden
27th April 2010, 09:16
Finished my rally today, just sent the times to Bruce. Hopefully not too slow! Noiker went well, but then I went for some sightseeing on the Kaihuavaara and Sikakama stages, (the big green fields on the left, I suppose, if it caught anybody else) :D , lost about 9 seconds there. And of course some stupid, childish mistakes trying to go too fast.

Kaihuavaara II was okay, Sikakama II went really well, and I took it a bit easy at Fraizer Wells II, because the Polo handles like $h!t around bumps and undulations sometimes. I've done a bit of professional karting, so the natural tendency to go all out is there. Probably I'll improve and find a balance between aggression and control in the next rally.

Bruce D
28th April 2010, 06:55
Yes, the Polo does have issues with big bumps and dips - something I'm working on with setup stuff at the moment.

My times are in. Drove the thing blind straight through. My only big surprise was that during all of my time off the track and in the trees I only needed assistance once and didn't trash the car at all. I really dislike the gravel versions of the finnish stages. Good luck everyone.

Congratulations to Francis for taking the rally win!

For me the result is actually quite good and I'm pleased with the speed of the car compared to other cars. A good base to build on on the next event.

It is also nice to see how close the field was in terms of speed. For example on SS5 2nd to 4th time difference was only a second and 5th to 7th is covered by only 1,5 seconds, though the stage winner was lightyears ahead of everyone else. Promises to become quite an interesting championship.

Looking forward to San Remo rally.

Edit: It is nice to see the website back up and running. Good source for all the information about our competitions. Great job Bruce!

Bruce D

Thanks NeverKnow. ;)

I was looking at the stage line-up for San Remo today and thinking it's going to be really tough so it could be a case of who makes the least mistakes. I expect a jumbled results order.

Congrats to Francis.

Damn, was I in love with the fifth position in this rally or what? Not too bad for a game I started playing 2-3 months ago huh? :D Anyway, now I gotta start dabbling with setups and hopefully go faster in the next rally, and as of now I'm completely clueless about setups.

Pleased with 6th...

Some goofs on stage 1 cost us fourth for certain (some tricky surfaces on that stage), but our other stage times are spot on
