Lol, white sauron, who cares, he has finished the rally in the shortest time and deserves to win obv.
What a game........Deserved win, but handshake for everybody in top 3
Poor Petter...

Ogier lost the win 3 corners from the end!
Unfortunately there is only 1 winner, what a pity for him!

Very happy to see Jari get the win but the 2 Sebs were the stars of the show.
Loeb in a class of his own and Ogier a star already.
Great win by JML??? The guys hasn't even won a single stage... Phew... Two Sebs are the stars of this rally. Latvala's victory means nothing.
Interesting thinking.....

Ridiculous. Winning a rally is about the final time, not stage times.
jari matti latvala shalalalala - jarri matti latvala shalalalalala - jarri matti latvala..............
historic win! and ford is still able to win against citroen, only hirvonen is not able..
congratolations to j-m, ogier and super-seb
still sad about what happend to petter :( he should have been 3rd
the real loser is Ogier and Solberg....
Latvala takes win Loeb extends championship Lead..... and Latvala now is 2nd in the championship
Maybe JML isn’t that bad after all? ;)
Nice payback for JML after loosing the event on the last stage last year

Latvala definitely deserves to win even though he didn't win a single stage. He's the only one who didn't make a mistake.
Ogier had some 3? spins with damage.
Loeb had 2 crashes (with a bit less luck he'd be out of the rally) and 1 spin
Petter had 1 crash, without any luck.
So yes Latvala is the fastest driver without mistakes, definitely not something you'd expect from him after last year.

I take my hat off for Latvala, Ogier and Loeb.
Now Malcolm Wilson has to decide if Hirvonnen still is the first driver.
What a rally!!!!   Remembered forever!!! Congratulations to JML for his win and to Ogier for his efforts all the weekend!!!!
Will be interesting to see team orders after this at Ford. Who will be the 2nd driver to score safely manu points

Latvala is a winner, but Hirvonen is not in my book. He is good, but not a winner !
Very nice event...and the brilliant minds of the FIA decided to exclude it from the championship......
Ok Latvala was very good...no mistakes...fair win since all of the time lost was due to mistakes by the rest....
The eternal loser Hirvonen should be the number two driver now...the joke lasted enough.
I really hope Latvala gets a huge confidence boost from now on and challenged Loeb and the Citroen boys on speed as well...

What A Rally!!!
What a huge disappointment, only listen to the radio this time to see Petter could win. I thought it would be the first time a private team would win a rally for a long time, but it wasn't to be. WRC is railing on the drama this stage for their PR.
Strange Citroen doesn't force Ogier to slow down this time, perhaps because Loeb is already so far ahead in points.
Ford needs to rethink their driver status strategy, but it is too late for either Ford drivers to win the driver title. I'm not sure whether if Latvala is a lead driver or a second driver, if he was a second driver why didn't he slow down to 4th place so Mikko can take podium [/sacarsm].

Great Event... I am gutted for Seb jr. Hopefully he will put that mistake behind him. I fell sorry for Petter too.
Great consistent drive by JML (not often you hear that, but that is great news for the sport)
Loeb: incredible number of mistakes for him in one single rally! But finished 3rd anyway!
Mikko: very disappointing rally.

Congrats to JML for one fine drive but I think Ogier and Loeb stole the show in New Zealand.
Lancia second now ? Only after almost 20 years, wow ... ^^
Comes to think that Ford took almost double the time to get to this mark of 74 I think. But I agree with Mirek, the most successful is the one with the most manu titles, and that's still Lancia's territory.
Btw, great win for Jari-Matti, he's now the runner up!
The top five in the championship is quite close, albeit that Loeb has a reasonable gap. But with this point system, things can change rapidly.
with 4 tarmac events still to be run Ford must start thinking.....

The strange fact that JML won without any stagewin confirms even more my theory that the Focuses have less enginepower. It will explain the lame performance from JML and MH and the Citroens supreme stagetimes.
So nothing will really happen unless MW put some extra power in the Focus engine.
I really want to go to NZ next time WRC will happen there. It would be nice. Any B&B at your places?? :D

Well, it doesnt seem that Citroen kept this agreement to me. Something´s happened that explains the bigger difference between the Ford and Citroen drivers and to me it´s the engines, which is more easy to see in a rally like NZ with fast roads.

That exactly. It means a lot of money, but had I been today at Whaanga Coast seeing the action and listening to splits, it would've been all worth it. So definitely, it's been put under serious consideration.
As for this year, I was asleep - and had a pleasant news at wake up. Always happy to see JML claiming a win, and doing so without stage wins nicely underlines the fact that this season he's supposed to learn consistency and reliability. I still hope at BP Ford they'd keep his 2nd driver status and continue with the strategy. Drivers' title wise Loeb won it at the first glance at 2010 calendar, so unless doesn't Loeb start to retire, no one else have a chance.
That brings focus to Ogier. Those of you who followed this live (you were many), did it seem that Ogier would've have a fair fight for win against Loeb, or was that changed after Loeb another off? It'd be so nice to see Ogier getting a fair chance against Loeb. I'm not saying that he's better driver, but his learning curve since mid-season 2009 has been incredibly high.
Shame for the fact that NZ isn't included every year in the calendar. It's always spectacular to watch - live action and the time sheets. Always very tight between the podium drivers which is what everybody wants I think. Except those that decide.
Bring on Portugal.

Amazing result that will have screwed virtually everyone's pickems :)
Several lessons from this rally
1- To finish first, first you have to finish (or be Finnish)
2- Reports of JML's lack of winning ability seem to have been premature
3-Reports of Loeb's elevation to God status seem to have been premature
(He's not the Messiah,he's a very naughty boy)
4-There are a huge number of rally fans with no sense of proportion
5-We need a shorthand to distinguish which Seb we are talking about
Seb Snr and Seb Jr (SS / SJ) seems to do it but I prefer Big frog and Little frog ;)
Congrats JML and JL

Another unbelievably exciting final stage at Rally NZ.
Congratulations to Jari-Matti, bad luck to Seb O and Petter, amazing pace by Seb L.
As my Mum used to say when I was a kid watching rally on TV.
“They all go too fast. If they went a little bit slower they wouldn’t crash and probably win”. I wonder if JML had spoken to my Mum at some stage!!!
Fantastic event. Great to be out on the stages to witness it.

Trying to make a resumé of this rally I must say JML is the man of the rally. He showed maturness I never seen before and do what he did on the last stage was brilliant.
And the championship is to be looked at in a different way from now and on, I think. SL is the best but not unbeatable and his errors today showed that the championship is long way not finished. (Though I think SL wasn´t focused enough - he was correcting his pacenotes at the time he went off)
And that´s good for the sport and media as well.
Nobody said Loeb is unbeateble....
but is the fastest and he never loses when all comes down to speed and not errors (apart from specialised events like finland and sweden/norway)
I do not know how interesting the championship will be when we are on the tarmac rounds....

Yeah, I just watched as well and stood awake almost half the night. Nice :-) Actually top 5 was in 25 sec by the end of rally. That is almost nothing!
By the end it looks like it was very expensive rally for Citrone (looking those limping and crashed cars at the end).
And one more thing about Citroen speed. They homologated before Australia a lot of things (they were in so hurry that it even caused a penalty in Australia). Since then Citroen has been one step ahead.
the fact that the customer citorens have an easy go at the ford top class boys shows that the citroen team is far more organised and spends its resources more wisely....
they have 2 works cars and 3 customer cars...out of those 3 cars 1 is driven by a tourist with big pockets and stupid kart fans, 1 is given to a young talent that will be the next contender and 1 is used by a good privateer which brings public attention and a lot of fans....
take the situation at ford.....only thing that counts there is money in order daddy wilson to get his son into 15 years plans....no future planning....no solutions...not even testing of some drivers that could potentially have something to bring to the sport....a bunch of ice cream makers, oil boys and overweight electric store guys...we don;t even know if the only guy that will most likely be world champion in the coming years and shows that he actually has a heartbeat during the events is getting payed as it should by the factory or he pays for his drive....
PS... did the whip worked Kamikaze ???

Not only do I think Ogier wouldn't have been allowed to win, I also think some, if not all, of the last stage shenanigans were an attempt to give Big Frog the win which backfired spectacularly. Then again there's no conspiracy theorist like an old conspiracy theorist.

No its not criticism at all, i just want to know as what i understand kimi is part of the citroen juniour team run by ph sport and i dont see individuals doing the wrc in private C4s as i see many fords in private hands. Also what spec is ogiers c4 08 or 09 as it seems its faster than 09 fords.
All of the Citroens seem faster than the Fords. I really do believe that Citroen just have a better, faster car, and have done since the birth of the C4. Why do you think Petter chose the Citroen? Also, Avva said the C4 was quicker.

You can't say it is not used by privateers, Aktinson, Petter, Aava...
But may be it is a price that counts...
for example, MW offered for Aava a seat at half price than Citroen....but unfortunately he didn't get so many sponsors...
All of the Citroens seem faster than the Fords. I really do believe that Citroen just have a better, faster car, and have done since the birth of the C4. Why do you think Petter chose the Citroen? Also, Avva said the C4 was quicker.
After Andreas Mikkelsen tested the C4 some time back, he said he felt sorry for the Ford drivers..
i totally agree with you bt why are privateers not doings the wrc rounds in c4s,is it expensive or there are secrets under the bonnet which must not be seen by private engineers?
The reason was mentioned at the start of the season, Citroen don't have enough C4's available...so if the privateers start writing them off, it may jepordise the works effort.....
This was the reason for Rautencrash not competing in the WRC this year.
I also agree that the Citroens are probably more expensive to hire....180,000 euros per event!? How much for a Focus?

All of the Citroens seem faster than the Fords. I really do believe that Citroen just have a better, faster car, and have done since the birth of the C4. Why do you think Petter chose the Citroen? Also, Avva said the C4 was quicker.
The great Pentti A also said that several basic aspects of the Focus design were flawed. MH and J-M L really are fighting with one hand tied behind their backs, especially since the bulk of M-Sport effort in the last 9 months has been focussed (no pun intended) on the S2000 car. Effectively all Fords are 08 spec, hence a bit behind 08 C4s and a lot behind 09 C4s

agreed which means only solberg owns private C4s as a person or maybe kimi?Aava, conrad, atticksons were all for hire from ph sport.

apart from P solberg is there any other privateer who owns a C4 or a private team running C4s apart from ph sport?
There are strong rumors about Felice Re in Italy-he should drive C4 at the end of May (Rally della Marca) or latest on Lanterna in mid June. He should drive C4 to the end of the season. For those who don't know, he owns at the moment two Xsara's WRC (Team TAM-AUTO).

It is the last stage. The 366,85km and 20 stages leading up to this the final stage of the WRC Rally New Zealand has been fast yet punishing. Four crews from four different teams stand a chance to take the victory at this the fifth round of the World Rally Championship.
Sebastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassi (Citroen Junior Team) takes to SS21 as the overall leaders of the rally. Valiantly driving for his first WRC victory in only his second full season in the top-flight rally series, Ogier’s slender lead of 6,7s over Jari-Matti Latvala/Miika Anttila (BP Ford World Rally Team) is not enough for him to coast through the final 29,67km-long stage.
Entering the stage with the determination to win, Petter Solberg/Phils Mills (Petter Solberg World Rally Team) started SS21 in third overall and 16,8s adrift of rally leaders Ogier/Ingrassi. Having seen the Citroen C4 WRCs of Loeb and Ogier flounder as they compete in a high-speed dance for the top slot on the overall classification in New Zealand through the previous stages, Solberg pushes his privately-run Citroen C4 WRC to its limits…

Haha funny stuff but Rally NZ would have to be the, one of the best rallies around!
Whats Rally Japan like, its pretty close to Australia but i heard the spectating is pretty avergae?
I'm still going through my pictures, Loeb did well to come 3rd considering he could have written his car off on the Friday

Spectating was hard at Rally Japan, some of the roads are weird but I suppose if you can beat the marshalls and wander off then you can spectate in some good places I would imagine.

There were a few stages we went to, but out of let's say 8 stages in a day two were accessable for spectators which were run twice in the day. If you can manage getting to others then yes it's worth it! On farms and being zapped by electric fences, worth it haha but NZ is better!
But I shall be in Japan for the WRC

The 1st stage of Day 2 at the end time control. Officials were checking the drivers were wearing their Nomex underwear and were gracious enough to hold the door open a extra couple of seconds for me to shoot off a few pics.
It was the stage where Hirvonen clipped the bridge and jumped out of his car all flustered and angry...

Nice shots! Tapper maybe paying Hawkswood (Andrew Hawkswood, the car's owner, who gave up his seat to Mark Tapper as he forgot his wife was about to give birth) back for awhile. Looks as if a new shell is needed. Real shame as he was doing really well until then. I wonder if the Mooner was one of the helpers to roll him back on his wheels.
For those who haven't seen it.

The mooner was actually one of Tappers friends. He denies it now but he was there with a group and it has been proved who it was. Not the nicest way to end your rally, having your mate be the cause of retirement.
Was a bit of a mess...
