As most of us here know, Stan has had some tough times recently that he has had to deal with, and as such has not been able to to attend to his duties as the moderator of the NASCAR forum.

Mark has asked me to step in for him. I will do my very best to keep things light hearted in this forum, and to keep items as updated as possible. Although I have been a member of MSF for 8 1/2 years, I really hadn't been around much since we went to the new forums software back in late '06, so I do not pretend to know everything about how it works, so please bear with me while I stumble through a few things.

I can only make y'all 3 promises.

1) I will endeavor to be as fair as humanly possible
2) I will try to be around as much as possible to address your concerns
3) I love to have fun, so I will try to make this as much fun as possible

All I ask in return is for everyone to be as respectful of each other as you can. I have no problem with a person attacking a post, especially if that person has a cogent argument to back it up; but I can not put up with a person attacking another poster personally.

That said, I must commend all of you they way you have carried yourselves the last couple of months, a few people got close to the line in one of our more heated discussions, but nobody crossed it (not that I saw anyway). All "youze guys" deserve a pat on the back.

My door is always open, if you have an issue you need resolved, just drop me a PM and I will try to take care of it as quickly as possible.

Stan has set a great example over the years and I will try my best to live up to that.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled posting.....

So glad you are here to help. I was getting a little flusterated with the "sticky" problem on the game side of the board.
Hope Stan will pay us a visit soon.

I just discovered I hadn't read this post!! Not that I didn't know there was a new sheriff in town, but I didn't really cotton on to Stan being officially gone.

I will have to say us NASCAR guys need to keep the forum moving and alive, and we have always had some spirited but fair arguments.

Everyone I hope says a prayer for Stan's health. I want to see the man back in good health....

I don't know how I missed this topic but I did. Belated congrats on your promotion, slo. I'm just bummed that Stan's situation created the need.

Quick question: where's the line?

Stan is not officially gone. He is still a moderator here. I honestly don't know what is happening with him as I have not had any contact with him since the week leading up to the Las Vegas. I am very nervous that something bad has happened, but the forum is the only means I have to communicate with him, so I have no way of finding out for sure. I do share in your prayers for him.

Quick question: where's the line?

There's the line. I'm not one of those overly squeamish types that is going to spend half my day going thru here taking the hatchet to post after post because of a word here or a thought there. That said, I'm not going to put up with direct "your an idiot" or "so and so is stupid", nor any kind of racial slurs.

And please keep the cussing to a minimum....if any of you knew me personally you would know that I cant speak without cussing, but this is a family forum so its really not a great idea in here.

If someone reports a post, I'll look at it, and would probably act a little more harshly than I would if I noticed whatever was reported myself, but only because someone else was injured by it...blame it on the cop in me.

I've really had my eyes opened by some of the things I have seen in the other forums the last few weeks, especially in chit chat and f1. I meant what I said in the opening post of this thread that I am really proud of you guys during the last couple of months that we hadn't had a mod checking in on us. Even the Edwards/Keselowski thread(s), which got heated, yes, didn't go way over the line. Job well done.

Now, if neccesary, there is a points system in place here, and I will use it if I have to. If one does cross that line one will be receiving some points. 12 points means a ban. BUT, only the person who is being sanctioned will know that has taken place, I'm not gonna air it out on here.

Sorry for the long answer to your quick question.

Quick question. Do the points stay on your slate forever? (yes...I was bad once....)

No, they expire after a certain amount of time....I was searching for an old thread to link to but can't seem to find it right now.It explained the process much better than I could....

I'll keep searching later and if I find it I'll place a link in here.

Congrat., or condolences, I am not sure which. Hope Stan is ok.
By the way in Chit Chat some, but not all, of what appears to be nasty is some of the regulars really just razzing one another without real malice.
The trick is to figure out which is which.
Eki and I go at each other hammer and tongs but we also kid & razz each other. I don't take offence and I don't think he does.

That's why I don't get overly concerned when I'm just reading through versus when something gets reported to me.

I once got banned way back in the beginning because a "visiting" moderator jumped in our forum and sent nasty-grams to myself and a member that were having a not so friendly sounding friendly discussion....we both basicly told him to pee up a rope and we got banned.....it took less than hour to get it overturned by our real moderator (God I miss Roselady3) but his involvement caused more problems than it was worth.

Those were the good ole days.I remember once when RoseLady and friends had to come between Stan and I. we weren't really serious until some other outsider checked in and added thier comments. I apologized and Stan and I have been cool during and after ever since.
That said: I also on top of congradulating Slo; :D Congradulate Mark  on keeping the mod a inhouse deal and picking someone who has the Guts to shut people like me up once in a while. Be warned your probationinal period as parttime mod is over and we are getting to some good times.. Hockey finals and The rest of the season. You stepped in just in time.I for one am going to enjoy this. :s mokin:

You know me I'm just foolin congrats and looking foreward to hearing from you. :dozey:

Stan we miss you, come back soon. :)

I'm not in the NASCAR forum a whole bunch, and I didn't know anything was going on with Stan, so I just hope that he's OK. I've noticed that Roselady, Cindy, BobbyC and several of the other "old regulars" don't seem to be around here much anymore.

I hope everybody is healthy and well.
