Every time you view a thread, there are some targeted ads right there on the side or top or bottom.

The 'Fox News' thread gives me an ad for Sarah Palin

But the 'Danica' threads give me 'Cougar Life' dot com. LOL! as do threads about 'Virgin'

That's wacky.

Post your ironic or goofy ads here

I've been getting ads for Hotel Chocolat for the last couple of days. Hotel Chocolat is one of my favourite confectioners and I gave up chocolate for lent. I think this forum is torturing me as I'm now in desperate need of a chocolate fix.

I wonder if the ad-bot has access to your profile to determine age, gender, etc when choosing an ad.

BTW GridGirl, after your post here I see an ad for 'Princess Of Darkness' WTH!

Just saw the USF1 thread where the word 'harikari' appears..there is an ad for Suicide Prvention !

And now THIS thread is getting ads about posting ads!

The advert on this thread is now for BAA airport parking, I can only assume that it's because GG said Birmingham and they have an airport there.

I've got University of Liverpool and Cougar Life.
Since I have a PHD (Piled Higher and Deeper) and am looking for a nubile 20 year old Cougar ads are not of interest.

Plenty Of Fish and Brawn GP teamwear. They really ought to think about changing the second one.

No, they don't. I believe how it works is that google scans the text on each forum page and it additionally knows what country you are in from your IP address. Then it delivers ads based on these two criteria.

What I don't know is if google will know when you visit this site, what other sites you've been visiting (again based on your IP) and will further refine the results that way.

I'm glad that those awful animated "lose belly fat" adverts have now been mainly replaced with ads for the Land Rover Freelander.

And presumably because it must collect my cookies, I get ads for ComSec (which is a Securites trading company) and for BNP Paribas.

Thanks God that the ad " beautiful girls from your area " has vanished.
Now I get " Obama care...stop him " and an ad for Playseat.

Seeing Sarah Palins face often makes me leave a thread.

It makes me think of that Lady Gaga song, "Poke Her Face"... or is it "Poker Face"??? :p

BTW, do we see different ads depending on where we live??? Are some ads UK specific and some U.S. specific?

Don't approve of ad blockers. This site and most of the internet is free for us to use and it has to be paid for somehow.

If you're not interested in an ad then don't click it!

Some are regional specific. I live on the east coast and have been seeing ads for Summit Point Karts, which are run on the newest track at Summit Point Raceway in WVA.

I was just curious. I remember last year getting a lot of ads for mailorder brides from overseas - I wondered if everybody got those. Not that I would ever consider such a thing... although some of them looked very cute in the ads. :p

You mean you were interested enough to click through to see? .

I was really just curious how much the shipping would be. I mean, FedEx guarantees overnight delivery... but how much would it be for my mailorder Mrs. Jag_Warrior??? Also, is there a 30 day money back guarantee? Like if she gets on my nerves after a couple of weeks, can I send her back? That would be the catch!

EDIT - See! At the bottom of this page, I now see an ad for Fitness Singles: Meet singles who share your fitness passion. No! I want a girl who shares my passion for racing and cars. Why can't I get one of those? Maybe one who is deaf and mute. Mute: good for me. Deaf: good for her.
