Knowns
Gen. William Looney III
Gil Deferran

Unknowns
League representative
Engine expert
Marketer/promoter
Racing engineer

So, who will they be?

I'm liking what I have seen so far. I'll guess at Eddie Gossage for the marketer/promoter.

Interesting...I would hope for Gossage in the Marketer/Promotor slot, as for the league rep., it likely will be Barnhart and I am not SURE I want to see THAT. Engine Expert? Someone from Honda..although I am not sure that solves a whole lot but they are carrying the can right now.
AS for the race engineer...THAT may be the key guy in steering this committee. The appointment of this person may tell us more about this committee of experts than anything else...

I don't know who the engine expert will be, but perhaps it would be better if it was an outside engine expert.

I am certainly available to be part of the commitee.

If they read my archived forum posts, they will see that I have lots of opinions AND good ideas.

You've got me on this one. Pray tell, Jobs doesn't have a trademark on the word ICONIC does he?

Jobs and the Apple lawyers seem to think they own any word that starts with an "i".

I never have a good feeling about something when they coin some stupid backronym buzz-word. Just get on with the job....

They probably only have the trademark for "iCONIC".

Love to see Michael Cannon as the race engineer. Craig Hampson would be my second, even though he is not active.

It likely wont be. It will be someone from Honda. However, it should be noted Honda I think would be happy to have competition. It makes for better marketing when you win. So I think if someone from Honda is that guy, he will make recommendations that will benefit everyone including Honda. I think the engine option may be the first change in the process, and if they open up the series for multilple engine options, if done right with the right formula, everyone can win metaphorically.....

It's fine with me, as long as they allow multiple engines. Honda is sticking to a V6 apparently, and won't deviate from that. As long as they let other engine makers build V or Inline 4's or V8's, I have no issue.

Engine specs:

How 'bout they just spec the engines at a 2.2 or 2.8 (~ etc.) with a turbo with pop-off valve boost limit, then just let everyone bring their own. Get Honda/Ford/Toyota/whatever engines, let Stillen & Lingenfelter & Greddy (or even Cosworth) at them (just no platinum/titanium/super-exotics) and run whatever you want to buy.
