For Penske this week.

Feeling the heat, Sam? ;)

Sam better be feeling the heat. The Alligator is a good little driver...

That said, Hornish was in the top 10 until his motor laid down on him today. THe man has no luck with life at times...if he is running good, Murphy's law seems to haunt him...

Sure, his luck is bad. Especially this year.

But unfortunately, the scoreboard says that the #77 car is barely in the top 35 in points, after 5 races. And for Penske's team, that is unacceptable.

Yes...and no. After 5 races, Mark Martin was in danger of being out of the top 35 last year and yet he finished second in the season standings. 5 races does not make much except a bad start.

I think Allgaier testing is a shot across the bow of Hornish, but I also think Hornish has had a lot of decent runs that have been sandbagged by things beyond his control more often than probably is fair. I also know that unlike Keselowski, Hornish doesn't invite people to be so mad that putting him in the fence sounds like rational behaviour.

I like Sam...I just think his learning curve was steeper than his ability to grasp it, just like I know his ability on a road course would doom him to mid pack status if he went back to the IRL.

Also I think Allgaier needs more Sprint Cup testing. NASCAR rules are strict on testing.

Why does everyone think Allgaier would replace Hornish? Penske has another driver who has generated a lot of controversy recently. Hornish has a history with Penske, and Penske has shown to very loyal to those who are loyal to the team and fit the Penske mold.

Penske likes to win. Brad Keselowski will win a race before Sam Hornish. Enough said....
