That's a "stupid" rule... because almost all drivers break it!

Even in local rallys, the rule exists, but everyone knows that everybody is breaking the rule... and nothing happen!

In local Madeira Rallys you have 2 specific days for recce, but any driver respect the rule... that's very common everywhere, like Mirek wrote...

Francis44
30th April 2010, 17:40
Thats dosen't make sense.

The organisation of the rally has no right to prevent a driver from getting through the roads an week earlier if the road is open to the public, dont forget drivers are citizens and therefore they have the same rights.

Mirek
30th April 2010, 17:42
There are of course exceptions for drivers who use stages on journey to work etc. but they are obliged to inform rally organization. Those rules work for many years. It's just about the way they are applied and sense of fair play.

And yes, they can prevent drivers from driving on public roads :) The reason is that when driver enters event, it means he agrees with suplementary regulations. Recce rules are part of them. Maybe better to say, they can't stop them doing that but they can punish them - refuse to accept entry form, give some penalty etc. Organizer should also inform ASN.

Shouldn't stage 7 and 8 be live now, i don't see any results of stage 7 yet?

Mirek
30th April 2010, 18:17
Stage 7 started at 19:03 (there was 30 min delay). Juho must be close to finish now.

RS
30th April 2010, 18:26
Meeke fastest again. I doubt Kopecky can do anything about this lead now.

Madeira
30th April 2010, 18:33
no time for Vallejo yet....

Mirek
30th April 2010, 18:41

Luis Pacheco

The canarian radio tells Wilks had a flat tyre too.

Mirek

No, Wilks is safe and perfect ;)

Juho overheated tyres on stages and lost few seconds...

fmcv

He is the fastest driver, little doubt about that.

Mirek

Yes, he is. This season he was just moved to the role of a fox with hunters behind. Once again Skoda defeated Peugeot by it's own weapons which worked that well in previous years - lots of competitive drivers covering each others back.

RS
1st May 2010, 15:34
Hanninen is closing fast though. It will be interesting to see if Juho can keep up his new tarmac pace on the following rounds and whether he can dominate gravel events like he did in Argentina.

Plus we have the Evo2 Fabia yet to debut and possible developments from Peugeot too...

I agree Mirek, tables are turned. But Sardinia will be difficult for Peugeot but Meeke will no doubt try his hardest as will everybody else.

Good rally for Skoda once more, itlooks Meeke is just getting those small things that get him out ofwin!

One thing to commetn: have you noticed the timesof the old BMW M3 (E30) with over 20 years old!!!
Even Ponce, great knowledge of Canaria, but old too have posted incredible tiems, and always really nice to watch (have to press "All" in IRC-resuts site to see the M3 times)

Pitty for Magalhães, Meeke said he got to 4th position with Bruno help, so I guess he lost time to let Meeke pass him on the overall classification of the rally.

Bruno showed speed this rally and I think he still has room for improvement, his biggest downside his the lack of competition on the National Championship, he was fast on two stages and then he just had to control, and that's why he loses time on big stages.
In my opinion he is the future of Portuguese rallying, and I wish the best for him.

Mirek, You were right.

Tactics made Magalhães slow down in Meeke's benefit. But I really can't understand this. Ok, Meeke is the only peugeot driver who can challenge the Skodas... The crew may be the same for both drivers but one thing is really different: the origin of the money.

I Just wrote an article explainig this. How can a sponsor be happy when his driver deliberately pulls back? We are not talking about Ford/Citroen tactics here...

And I still remember that in Portugal there was a "novel" in the beggining of the season in what concerns sponsoring our main drivers. Eventually Magalhães and Armindo Araujo could find the money. How is it going to be next year? For sure this does not help...

Mirek

I dont think Peugeout Portugal would allow this move if they hadn't something to get in return.

Perhaps support for Bruno in Ypres and Barum, who knows??

Otherwise I would not seem him stop, although if it was me and Meeke ask me to let him pass, if I said no, I would have made a silly of myself.

RS
3rd May 2010, 10:35
It's a pity Bruno had the small transmission problem on Friday otherwise he might not have been in this position and might have been able to challenge for a podium.

I am sure Bruno will be rewarded for helping Meeke out here.

If there are no policemen on the roads with radar it also doesn't mean that allowed speed is unlimited although You can drive that way ;)

Sorry but, when the organisers open one road ,that is normally closed, to recce and see everybody going around more than 2,3,4 what can you tell me???..Every pilot before last year done more than 2 run in recce in Madeira, i only answer someone that says Campos and Adruzilo done it always in Madeira, and i said that everyone done it, the organisers said, you have two days to recce so do it...until last year was like this , so those two drivers only done what everybody did
