Google have just put in a big update of the UK streetview coverage. It's gone from some selected built up areas to almost all the roads in the UK!

As I said I would I've asked for our house to be removed :) Pointless invasion of people's privacy IMHO

I've found my car parked at the side of the road where I leave it when I go to work. (a pretty good park job if I say so myself :p )

Judging by the building work in the area it looks like the photo was taken in about July last year.

I remember seeing the Streetview car last year when I had my cruddy old Escort, and finally here I am:

This was taken a few hundred yards from my house, and yet some time must have passed before they did my road as I'd got a new car by then.

So it's kind of like two parallel universes combined where you own both an Escort and a Renno?

I'm not sure when our area was done but it looks to be between January and July last year as we don't have the 500 and the 406 is still in Caroline's dads backyard waiting to be scrappaged. But then the local Fiat stealer has a 500 cabriolet so that area must have been done sometime near the end of August :mark: Would be nice if they had dates on it all.

Neither of my streets are shown. One street just hasn't been done and judgeing by google maps the other shows my house as foundations only so my street probably didn't exist at the time.

I remember seeing a street view camera though. I may just look for my car where I saw it like Dave has.

I think any pic they get from a crappy camera on a car from the street isn't an invasion of privacy since they don't TELL You who lives there....

I never understood the fuss the first time around when streetview was launched. The quality of the footage is so pixilated and has the properties of a 1 or 2 meagpixel camera in reality. It really is capturing an image that any person walking down the pavement would see anyway. Laws in Britain state you can photograph in the street, and I don't see how this would be any different. The papers milked the paranoia and it became a big deal, which all seemed to pass me by.. :p :)

The thing I don't like is that it's all clumped together in one database. If someone wants to walk down our street and take a picture of our house but it's not in a big database which says this picture was taken in such and such place. A picture is just a picture, but IMHO if you like it to a location then that's starting to become a privacy problem IMHO.

It is a very good website to mess about with if you have some free time. ;)

Google Streetmaps are no concern to those of us who are deemed landed Gentry.

All the proleteriat will ever get to see is the Gatehouse and the business end of my gameskeepers Blunderbus.
