I am predicting that this season Matos has a break out year. Driving for DeFerran I think is a match made in heaven. Matos reminds me a lot of DeFerran when he was younger and driving for Hall. Hungry, aggressive, smart. Can't wait to see how he develops this season!

Experience!
Experience driving, experience running a team and most importantly, experience winning!

Even if all he did was at the very least play a role like Mears does with Penske, Matos will benefit.
Do you not think Mears has played a significant role developing drivers at Penske?
Matos stands to gain a great deal having DeFerran along side for the season in whatever capacity he might end up playing.

Don't care. The car is going to be whatever its gonna be.
Whatever it is, Matos will drive the wheels off it.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Matos steals a win this season!

You should change your name to RafaFan!
I'm just kidding. I hope he is about to pull out a win as well as it would be a nice little surprise, and Rafa is a good guy and has the potential to be Gil de Ferran #2

And interesting tidbit about Rafa
In every series he has ran he has won the Championship in his 2nd year. I have been watching him since his Karting days sleeping on people's couches. He has the goods

I think the same went for Townsend Bell all the way up to Indy Lights. He only had one season and change in CART and one season in F3000. Would've been nice seeing how he went his second year in CART and F3000.
Was Rafa the guy that had wins in Infiniti Pro and Atlantics the same year? Or was a front runner in both in the same year?

Rafa is one of those guys with the desire to win. He's hungry for it and he's going to push the car beyond what it's capable of. That is what you want, guys taking things beyond the comfort zone. Rafa does that. You gotta love the Brazilians! Rafa has an uncanny similarity in my view to DeFerran. A nice balance of aggression and brains. He knows when to take the chances. You look at somebody like Tracy over the years. Guy would get passed, pissed off and try to stuff his car someplace it wouldn't go because he had to pass him right back. DeFerran was smart enough to regroup, and come at it again, never afraid, always aggressive but smart about it. Watch some of those old videos of him with Hall and with Walker. He almost won the title with Walker. He'd be a three time champ right now. Super aggressive. Penske and Mears really fine tuned that calculated nature that he has. I think DeFerran is going to do the same with Matos. Matos has that aggression, he has that calculatedness about him, DeFerran will fine tune it and you will see Matos emerge as a top contender mark my words.
