Seriously folks, I've been hanging around various social networking sites for nigh on 25 years and I have never seen so many folks getting upset about the posting habits of others as I have in just a few short weeks around here.
Just an observation from a new guy.

You were hanging round on social networking websites in 1985?

He only said "sites", not necessarily "web" ones :p
When I were a lad, our local youth club was a social networking site ;)

ok, mighta been closer to 20....sometimes my math skills fail me.....Internet Relay Chat....localized message boards....things like that. The days of the 1200 baud modem, and external hard-drives. Still, the observation remains.

Newsgroups were around in 1985, although not many people were online to use them!

All kidding aside, 71 fan is complaining about people complaining (I just gave myself a headache) about multiple threads and clutter in the Nascar forum (as opposed to the no-nonsense approach used in the F1 forum, for example). :p :
Personally I see the benefits and drawbacks of both "methods" but I kind of like the way we have been doing it in the Nascar Forum since the beginning, you kind a know what you are getting into just by looking at the title, but then again, it is kind of annoying to have 15 "Danica is the second coming of Fangio" threads all on the same page.
I think now that Danica is taking a break from finishing in the back of Nationwide races to cruise around mid-pack in Indy Car races, some of the clutter will go by the wayside as will MOST of the complaining :D
With that, I'm gonna have a  to drown this headache and go to bed, got a long day at work tomorrow.

Our father would wake us up 2 hours before we went to bed.
Then we had to lick the road. With tongue.
It's coming up on 30 years since my first email and Usenet usage. (1982).
And there will always be posters who take themselves far too seriously and who have amazingly thin skins. Good entertainment sometimes, I'd think.

btw it's not *always* better to contribute to an existing thread.
e.g. If there is a 'chat' thread going on but you want to discuss a specific topic that's already discussed in the general thread e.g. 'That was a boring race'. Then it's perfectly fine to start a new topic to discuss it.
Personally I've no desire to wade through 15 pages and read every post to find a sub-topic that interests me.

Couldn't agree more Mark. Hence my waaaaambulance comment towards one person in the F1 forum :D

In addition if you have a thread e.g.
"Driver X is going to FIA hearing"..
then it's perfectly ok to start a new thread saying
"Driver X is banned for 10 races"
as it's a significant new development in it's own right.

Wake up before you went to bed? You were lucky to have a bed!
We used t' have t' sleep on molten steel, in blast furnace. Sometimes we were woken up by Gran who were cold; she used to wear 4 coats made of asbestos.

Odd thing is that too many of them are moderators...... :(
Life was so tough for us that it is impossible to remember that we used to have to
