We are talking to a couple of drivers but at the moment all of our efforts are on 1 car.We have a driver in talks with a sponsor but if that comes off we would get a ready built car in and change the spec.Realisticly it would be the later part of this year but more likely 2008.But thanks for your interest and thanks to everyone for there support....see you at rockingham...cheers rick

I tell you what I can't wait to see the 1 series hit the track!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it may even spring a few suprises during the season as well. Good on the team for opting for a different fuel sourse, the diveristy of the grid in terms of drivers, car and fuel is hotting up. roll on media day and brands

Damn it, I was hoping it was Rick Kelly and that he had to run his V8 Supercar on diesel as punishment for pushing Lowndesy out of the title race in Philip Island!!

New car
New Diesal powered engine
New Team
New Driver (to the series)

think it will take a while for eveything to get going well hope he doesnt loose his vision during the season when the going gets tuff.

Is that a Toca control part like the BTC-Spec wings are?

Ed
8th March 2007, 22:09
I noticed it about the wing as well. Going slight off point but when George and Marsh ran the S2000 spec Civics in 2004 they never had them with rear wings on but when the were raced in The ETCC by Pro Team and Cimbbe(or what ever they wer called) they did have rear wings attached to them. Does anyone know why the S2000 civics in the BTCC didn't?

i dont think gr asia ran them in 2004 eathier apart from 1 test they done.

Looks a very ncie car. I wish Rick Kerry a good time this year.

tdb
9th March 2007, 00:14
Is that a Toca control part like the BTC-Spec wings are?

yes and has a specific position on the car.

As Ricks car is a new build, before he races it he will be issued a wing and told where it must be positioned.
I am not sure of the details regarding hatchbacks, but saloons have a minimum distance from the rear of the car.

Also we have tried our car minus the wing and our driver diid less than a lap and radio'd in asking for his wing back! so they have a very definate stabilising effect at minimum!

100%hondafan
9th March 2007, 10:59
didnt realise it was all decided by toca.

Ed
9th March 2007, 11:11
are the BTC spec wings as comsmetic as the S200 spec rear wings then??

tyreman2
9th March 2007, 12:00
are the BTC spec wings as comsmetic as the S200 spec rear wings then??

re-read tdb post, they are not cosmetic although not as efficient as the much larger and differently positioned BTC spec cars

100%hondafan
9th March 2007, 14:01
Btc spec rear wings are just for looks they do nothing.

s2000 rear wings are diffrent and do ad a adjustable downforce aid to the car

Ed
9th March 2007, 15:40
but do toca controll the S2000 wings as well??

PDS
9th March 2007, 17:35
Ultimately, the FIA control the size of the wings..

TOCA have to check that the wing fitted is the correct size for S2000!

Did anyone get a close look at the BMW 1 series diesel at media day?

it looks like it needs a huge amount of work on it to get it up to speed for brandhatch.

it was still fitted with a Hand brake system and what looked like a standard H-Pattern gear box.

there can be a lot of difference between a S2000 car and a Btcc S2000 car.

I.E Kartworlds Civic compared to the Vauxhall Vectra.

I wish them the best of luck for '07 and hope they do well ut relistically i can

see them being the new Mark Smith.

PDS
17th March 2007, 13:50
Yes they have still a lot of work to get the 1 Series 'race ready'.
Although they are expecting to get it fired-up this weekend with a view of running it at a circuit during the coming week.
The gearbox they will use has yet to be finally decided upon.

Just to let people know i did get to drive the 1 series today so we are on for brands.Going to test at 2 circuits next week so should know how fast it is after then.
To answer a couple of question...As for handbrake i prefer one for starts and as we are 50kgs under weight i thought it a good idea, but it isnt standard its hydralic.

Also if i run a sequential box i can only name 1 diff ratio and ratios will be important. When we are happy we will change the box but the h pattern is a flat shift 6 speed and bmw say after the extra weight that has to be added there is no benefit but i will wait and see.

as for pace dont expect too much at first but this project will only get quicker...cheers Rick

Great news Rick..

It will be a great achievement to get the car on the grid at Brands!

Well done to you and your team, as I know how much time and effort you have put into getting this far..
