Seems the 2014 TV-guide was born: http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/media/tv-guid ... -80--.html (http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/media/tv-guide/western-europe/page/987-2395-80--.html) :D
LOL i find it funny that they separated Europe to east/west. Czech republic and Slovenia are east europe but Cyprus and Turkey (???) are west europe. Can you see any logic here ??? :p

Please direct your suggestions to the Finnish company FilmWorks who is in charge of producing the content according to Rally Finland's web site (http://www.nesteoilrallyfinland.fi/en/39658.aspx). Maybe at one point they will start to change things for the better.

Why on earth can the rallies send SD times out live as they are with all other stage times in the rally.
Twitter is cool, but there are better ways...

Apparently there is a new official mobile application for WRC
http://www.maxrally.com/2014/02/05/offi ... d-reviewed (http://www.maxrally.com/2014/02/05/official-wrc-app-launched-and-reviewed)
Edit: Found it for Android is here https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... c&hl=en-GB (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.laola1.wrc&hl=en-GB)

FINALLY ! Thanks for the heads-up. As a matter of fact, the app seems quite good, everything is there (aside from previous years' results...) and easily accessible. Better than the website IMO. Seems to require a quite powerful phone though.
Finally something good from the promoter.
I hope the radio 'feature' will work as intended (and without Flash Player) as soon as the broadcasting starts. It's the biggest thing that was missing before the release of the app IMO.

Okay the app is already broken, despite rally sweden being "Live", live still displays results from MC...
makinen_fan
5th February 2014, 19:16
Does the radio work for you in the app?
Also no option to see splits
Again something disappointing from them...

5th February 2014, 19:22
Okay, an update was just released, now rally sweden works.
Radio doesn't work though  and no splittimes despite being advertised as being present on the store page... The app is close to being very good but right now it's useless.

Just noticed, split times appear after you click on one of the drivers on the "Stage Times" tab. It's not very convenient but they are there...
Oh god though, when looking at results from previous rallies (MC), it is totally broken... According to the app, Ott Tanak finished 2nd at Monte Carlo this year

What version of Android are you running on? I wouldn't be surprized if you needed at least 4.0 or 4.1 for the app to work.
Theoretically you can see if your phone is compatible by trying to install the app from there:

The way big Becksy talks about last name of Serderidis is bad. If she can not prepare for the show before, then she shouldn't do it at all.

How hard can it be? She even got some guy who did the hard work of putting the name together helping her. For nothing...

I noticed it happens way too often with different driver names WRR, ERR. Even were insulting Kubica for a long time calling him Kubitska (which in Poland appeared like "the little child Kubica") :)

I don't remember how exactly they pronounced it, but was far away, probably something like "Sederidi"

Granted she should've got the guys name right but no need for you to personally insult her. She's got a lot more class than you'll ever have.

If Barreis is referring to when she tried to pronounce it yesterday, she was making fun out of it actually. I cant remember her doing such a fuss in the past about the difficulty to pronounce someones name.

We can be glad that they don't have time for Mr Sede-de-dere-dedis in the interviews on RR. They would almost certainly be talking of the name for so long that Colin and Donald would miss the next stages...

Still some work to do on the live programmes. Was a bit of a mess today, lack of onboards, lack of stage end interviews (plus stage end interviews getting cut off), even PG didn't sound interested. It just seemed like they've put the logistics in place but haven't put any real thought into the editing/production.
I wouldn't pay £12 a month for this. Good if you have it for free with BT broadband though :)

Agree the live shows are rough around the edges. But no live rally coverage is particularly polished these days.
It would be interesting to see what people think of as the 'benchmark' for well-executed live rally coverage. The old BBC RAC live stages seemed good but I'm not sure if that's just me looking back fondly.

My only recommendation for live coverage would be more land cameras through the stages in some interesting spots and some more onboards instead of Heli. Stage end interviews are interesting, but I rather see what is still going on the stage, probably they can show only some of the most interesting. There is some progress though with the live timing, we were able to see some split times.
Guest driver's comments are welcome for me, you can hear the opinion of a real driver actually about this and that, I think they're valuable.

The BBC RAC stuff from the olden days was good, but it was mostly spectator stages around stately homes e.t.c. which means the action was contained within a small area and therefore much easier to produce.
Land cameras are not so easy because I think they are connected to the satellite trucks by cable and therefore it is only really easy to have them at the stage start and stage end sections.
The helicopter stuff is a nice part of the mix but what was missing from a lot of the helicopter footage yesterday was having the engine sounds/co driver calls overlayed. It somehow made the programme a bit "dead"
I don't know whether the WRC guys do it the same way but Eurosport have a plane up relaying the onboard footage so you are able to see onboards from pretty much anyone at anywhere in the stage. I'm not sure if the WRC people are able to do that, or whether they even had a camera in all of the top 10 cars?
It's good to have this live stuff from each rally, but some simple tweaks could make it a lot better.

It's shame Eurosport didn't get rights for WRC...

Yep, all "land" cameras are connected with a cable. Maybe only the start and stage end camera is wireless to allow faster movement, tho even then there's the receiver which is hooked up to the Outside Broadcast truck.
I think you can have many "land" cameras if the stage is very compact and you can place the OB truck in the centre to optimise the cable lengths. Of course a completely other story is putting all the cables down. I remember hearing that for the bobsleigh track (1,2km) in Sigulda, Latvia they (the technical crew of the broadcast) plan an entire day for placing cables and testing that all the signals come through. Imagine the time it would take to rig a special stage with cameras ...

I talked to a guy from Filmworks this weekend about the inboard camera placing and he agreed and that they wanted them on the ear of the seat but FIA deemed it dangerous since they could come loose or go throughout the seat...

Why no roof cam anymore?
And what's the point then in having an onboard cam at all when you dont see s***? You could rather have an audio recorder in place and close your eyes...

Seems for Mexico we'll have three more LIVE TV stages. Both Power Stage passes included, of course. :D
