Still I don't think Cameron is going to be any softer than Labour when it comes to cutting the NHS budget after the election whatever he promises now.

The problem is people see all the promises and weigh them up against the inevitable broken promises the current govt have made and simply vote on that basis.

Clegg says he won't work with Brown if there's a hung parliament, even though the incumbent PM stays in the job by default.

No wonder Clegg won't work with Brown. With comments like this it seriously looks like that he's trying to out-Tory the Tories. This falls right in line with the dark days of Thatcherism of breaking everything up and selling it. What a brilliant policy, it worked so well...


We like the NHS and, despite what the Conservatives say, they are more likely to ruin it.

Far be it for me to get in the way of the 'Daily Fail' and it's agenda.. But I suspect Nick Clegg would have to get such a policy past the Liberal Democrat membership first. Remember the Lib Dems are the only major UK political party that allows it's membership to debate and then vote on what goes into any manifesto. The chances of him getting such a policy past the membership seem virtually non-existant!

Clegg is often painted as 'more Tory than the Tories' simply because he helped author 'The Orange Book', a few years back. The book was a series of ideas set out by the more libertarian-minded Lib Dem MP's, was was NOT party policy, but just designed to set out a few ideas for discussion and debate. Not a lot came of it, and if you read anything else written by Mr Clegg you'll soon realise he is no Tory..

Personally speaking there's a huge number of reasons why I'll never vote Labour again. The illegal invasion of Iraq (disgusted to see Milliband bleating that we've 'punished them enough' for this the other day), a bigger fetish for privatisation than Thatcher, the the erosion of our liberties and freedom as well as the massive increase in useless laws and criminal offences, increasing mismanagement of the NHS and Police service, an unfair tax system, total lack of regulation in the financial sector, and a huge growth in inequality to name but a few.

Along a similar vein, no matter how much spin 'Dave' puts out the Tories will never get my vote, so I'll be supporting the Lib Dems.

A fetish for privatisation? That would because THEY cannot afford to offer the services. You have an unfair tax system? How is it unfair? If you take more than 50% of the rich guys' income....how is that unfair? It is unfair to the rich guy, but from what you are saying, I don't know if that would bother you personally. Useless laws and lack of crime enforcement? mmmm seen that movie before.

Lack of regs in the financial sector? I suspect there is lots....

No...I can understand you not voting for the Labour party based on all that...but basically for the most part, outside of the Iraq business, the are pretty much governing according to the principles they have had..and you are dreaming if you think Clegg's guys are going to be much different. AT least, that is my view from here....

Behind who? The NHS. Remember David Cameron is not the Tories, merely a single member of the party; which several would rather like to see the whole thing privatised.

So in other words the Conservatives would carry on Labour's policies on the NHS unchanged?
