CMR2 WRC Round 1 Sweden

It's been a long time coming, but four months after the 2009 World Rally Championship reached its thrilling conclusion in Wales, the fuse is well and truly lit on the 2010 competition. On 11 February the WRC ignites again, with one of the most spectacular challenges of the year - the 200kph snow-fest that is Rally Sweden.
Kicking off the 13-round 2010 season, Sweden is the only winter round this year, and makes a welcome return after a year out in 2009.

Fifty-seven per cent of the competitive distance has changed since 2008, although many of the new roads are familiar from previous years. With the exception of the Karlstad Super Special, only two of the previous stages remain. The rest are a mix of brand new routes and tests used in previous years when the rally went further north.

With six days to go before the event gets underway, weather conditions are reported to be perfect. Heavy snow has fallen on the rally route in the last few days and organisers predict the coldest event for 20 years, with temperatures forecast to plunge below -25ºC.

I am afraid ai have to miss this one. I got a new PC last week with Windows 7. As others mentioned CMR2 is not working under Windows 7....I hope this will be fixed one day...

Yes, its a shame....Is it 6 years already? Time is flying when youre having fun! :D

CMR2 is actually starting up, but in the screen where you get stage&weather info, the game crashes as soon as i try to move to the setup screen or start the stage. Have no idea why, so its hard to think of a fix...

There's been a ton of snow here where I live so I've been practicing driving it in my real Focus :P I'm sure it'll translate right over to CMR2.

Marcel, re: Win7...I've done everything I know how to do to get CMR2 running in Win7 with no luck. Thankfully I have my system configured as a dual boot XP/7 config, so I can boot into XP to run CMR2. I don't suppose you have an XP disc laying around, as you could do the same?

Completed my rally. Made a few mistakes here and there. But it was actually pretty good run this time :)

My style is a bit too aggressive to be consistent in the snow, so my times suffered a bit I think...but, not much I can do about that. Well I could slow down but meh :P

Snow rallies are fun, and this one was no different even though my times most likely suffered as a result of my aggressive driving.

Sorry tannat - forgot to post. Will definately have them to you by tonight (around 10pm-ish). It went OK - but I was in a bit of a rush so had very little practise. Last year or the one before I think I may have won this rally (my only win) so I hope I can at least compete this year. I'd be happy with 5th or higher ;)

I managed to pull a very late entry to this rally, and since I am yet to hear from my teammate the choice of car fell back to the old trusty Focus WRC '08.

Day 1 was plain sailing all the way trough, confident driving with hardly any snow, every stagetime was a PB as I am on a new computer so I have no clue if it's going well or not.

Day 2 was quite the opposite, plenty of snow a couple of unfortunate spins, and a heavy crash into a spectator car parked on stage!??

Bring on the results, and bring on Mexico!

6 isn't too bad. If the Win7 issues are solved, it would be reaching double figures.

The 2010 WRC season got off to a cracker of a start, with a dominant performance by PS29 in the Citroen, completing the rally with nearly a minute in hand over an epic battle for second amongst three competitors.

Day 1 of the rally saw jso1985 head to the service area just 6/10ths ahead of the Skoda of Maxrally, himself less than two seconds ahead of the Subaru of Tannat. The final day sorted things out with jso1985 finishing ahead of his teammate :p Tannat by just over two seconds. Maxrally trailed Tannat by 5 seonds at the completion-a very close battle.

Rounding out the field were the two Focus drivers, JTLarsen and Lugnut with the Two Basses driver finishing ahead of the American.

Well done all - my 2nd ever CMR2 win and both have been on snow in Sweden. For those of you worried about my pace, check out last year where as soon as the gravel and tarmac rounds started, I collapsed miserably! Also if Marcel and Homer come back, then my win total will stay at 2 forever ;)
