Who on here is going?

We usually go Sommerly Park but will be doing a few different stages this year for a change :)

I'm going. Looking forward to the only rally of the year that is easy to get to for me. Never been to Somerly myself - always go to 3 forest stages.

Not sure yet, will do the Wyedean this weekend, Smeatharpe next weekend (for the morning at least) and then see whether I feel like it/can afford it.

Very good entry bearing in mind the current situation. Really looking forward to this one now - first rally since GB in October.

I'll be there! Great atmosphere on this rally but the stages normally cut up really badly!

I'll be there :D Hopefully do Uddens x2 and Wareham. Should also be a late entry from a red big winged Peugeot.

Not going to this now. Got tickets to Erol Alkan in Bristol on the Friday night but will be staying in Bath and as the train back is about half five in the morning I doubt I'll be alive to go rallying :D

Who? :p

Should be a good day tomorrow Tis gonna be very wet but it should make it even more entertaining with a great battle at the front!

I think we will only do 2 stages as mam is driving and things take a bit longer when she does lol.

Wet? Looks OK until about 3pm doesn't it? Sunday is awful but Saturday looks OK.

Cant trust the forecast anyway, all the sites I use have been massively wrong lol.

That's true. And I've just had a look and now it seems rain will be the dominant weather feature!

weather reports now showing rain this morning, but brightening up this afternoon. hopefully it won't piss it down all day!

Who?

:p : :D Turns out he was absolutely awesome. Shame I had to miss a rally but in recent years I've grown bored of the Sunseeker. Very well organised event but I tend to find it a bit limp as a speccy.

Well a bit of a mixed day in the end.

Thought Andy Burton wasnt going to make the start as I saw a thread on britishrally last night saying he needed a new starter and then saw his car parked on a trailer outside a little chef at half 8 this morning! Turned out all good though as he was awesome through stage 3 where we had a great spot where we could see the cars twice. First bit we could see the inside of the corner was extremely soft and a few cars were getting stuck..... just like we did in the car park resulting in us needing a tow out by a tractor!

Went to go to the Richard Burns stage only to get massivly held up by traffic so we gave up and headed back for Stapehill which then got cancelled due to some flooding so the cars only went through at slow speed. Dont see why they cancelled it if the cars could still get through, surely an added pacenote or marshalls slowing the drivers before the would have sufficed?

Anyway didnt take many pics as couldnt be arsed really and it was quite nice to just watch the rally!

Well, in contrast that was probably the best spectator rally I've ever been to! The SCF Hardware SS2 was fantastic viewing on the inside of a nicely-cambered corner. The Richard Burns stage was even better - going on the outside of a huge but fast hairpin. Several bruises from gravel when Perez then Burton decided we were standing too close and pelted us when running wide...I wondered why people were slowly leaving the position we were in during the Minis but soon found out ;)
Then went to North Cyprus - on a long straight where the Cosworth really shone. All in all a great day, great weather, no traffic and except for getting a little stuck in a car park it was great. Just realised I don't even know the result yet, and I didn't know a stage was cancelled at all. I'll go and have a butchers now.

:) wasnt a bad day, still managed to enjoy with seeing alot of cars on the road section and getting to see the cars and drivers up close on the slow pass through the stage. Probably would have seen more if I was driving but mums Mazda 2 does about a million miles to a tank of diesel lol.

3 of the 9 pics I took, normally its more like 300 lol.

I really enjoyed the event this year!
I felt the top boys and girls were trying hard, the weather was ok and all the marshals I met were very friendly!

Three 'different' ones from me

The Zero car was very entertaining all day long!

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/4882/71477986.jpg

Paul really seemed to be trying hard whenever we saw him - not sure how he lost so much time!

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/1199/35783239.jpg

I felt these 'spectators' were stood in a dangerous spot but they were 'neigh bothered' by the action!

No website or anything, i'm just an amateur photographer who loves rallying! I keep seeing people with logos and watermarks on their photos and wonder if they actually make any money out if it? if so, maybe i should start doing the same :D

Might think about setting up a website anyway

More great pics, nice one Steve.

Just read that it was Paul Birds mums Funeral on thursday so for him to finish as he did was a great achievement given the circumstances :(

pettersolberg29
28th February 2010, 18:28
It must have been hard in the car for him - not easy to concentrate I'm sure. He looked very, very fast whenever I saw him so odd to see him finish so far behind...

Thats what i was thinking!

I generally like the sound of the WRC cars (prefer it to the buzzy S2000 noise) but in comparison to the Pug, the WRC cars sound so dull!

Superb video , the peugeot cosworth sounds awesome as allways , just wish more sounded similar .

pettersolberg29

S2000 may sound as good, even if they don't look as fast. We have to face, unfortunately, that rally cars will never be the same again.

Woodpecker 88
3rd March 2010, 21:08
S2000 cars sound ok but some are a bit tinny , they're far better than current WRC stuff tho , at least there's plenty of screaming BDA escorts in the historic championship , just have to go and watch those .
