I see Mads Ostberg has change car and direction in rallying well for one weekend any way

Calling All Mark 2 Drivers!

Do you think you've got what it takes to beat one of the best? Well come to the Mayo Stages Rally 2010 and pit your times against Norwegian Mads Ostberg. Mads who is Norwegian Rally Champion 2007 and 2009 is also a regular on the WRC competing on twenty three WRC round since 2006.

The 2009 season brought mixed fortunes for Mads running one of the latest spec Subaru Impreza S14 . He started the season well with a ninth place finish on his home Rally Norway.

This was followed by an excellent 6th in Portugal and two seventh places in Italy and Greece respectively. Unfortunately he was set to retire from the next three rounds.

Mads jumped at the opportunity of coming to Mayo to sample some of the Irish roads. He will be driving a 2.5 litre Millington engined Mark 2 Escort. Mads was kind enough to allow the club to raffle off his navigators seat to one lucky winner.
Tickets will be on sale on http://www.mayostagesrally.com and from representatives at the Galway International Rally.
As they say if your not in you cant win! Tickets are €10 each you must be over 16 to enter and there is no limit to the amount of tickets that can be purchased.

Really good publicity stunt. And you won`t be disappointed with Mads Østberg in a rearwheeldriven car. He actually started his career as a 16 year old in a Volvo 242, and he will surely be mighty fast and spectacular in a MK2 Escort.

Did he start with Volvo 242??

I thought he started his career with Opel Ascona B and Volvo 740 Original....

Daft question I know but what year is his Impreza? Wikipedia reckons 07' but the car is clearly the newer model Impreza.

Have seen the silk black stealt car live last saturday.
Beware in the Swedish woods this weekend, you just hear the roar and smell of racing oil!
This is going to be the snow fight of the year by the Norwegian drivers.

And in the end....

Impressive result in Finland with a "Classic" WRCar. Had it not been from the tyre issue, he could have fought with Sordo. According to Mads this was his best Rally to date.

Would be interesting to see him in a top spec S2000 car in IRC or SWRC.

if it wasnt for his loyality for his team its better he could do a few more rounds of the wrc in a different car apart from his aging subaru, there is a lot of hidden talent in that boy for sure i really admire him :s mokin:

On Sunday, trying to catch Wilson, Mads was 0,4-0,5 sec per km slower than the top factory drivers that was still fighting for victory. Not bad in a 06 Subaru !

Had he not landed on a big rock on Friday, loosing 3 min changing the wheel, he would have been even higher !

Stobart needs a tarmac driver for France and Spain. (Solberg isn't driving tarmac rounds with the Focus.)
Malcolm will test Ostberg in Germany for a possible move in WRCar?

that will be a wise decision of the malcom and the ford team. ;)

07 subaru

Mads thinks it's an 06 car.

What happened to his loyalty to Prodrive? Maybe DR told him to get experience with the new breed of WRC (or the nearest he can get at the moment) before driving the Mini?
Assuming of course he will get an Adapta Mini?

i have a feeling prodive will run the cars in conjuction with adapta rally team as bmw wont be fully involved as a manufucturer team,so mads might head the team. :)

I thought Adapta would be a semi works or satellite team in addition to the main Prodrive team with their 2 drivers?

Is Mini itself regarded as a manufacturer as opposed to BMW or BMW Mini?

dad østberg told in an intervju this spring that adapta going to be a semiworks team, and going to still be a team if mads be a full works driver. so if mads be in a works mini in 2012, its 2 seats in adapta open on market. that should mean that mini goes in this with 4 or even 5 seats in 2012?

shouldn't be bad at all!
