View Full Version : pickup harness mounting?

as you may know, i bought a right hand drive pick up chassis for a road legal project.
how are the harnesses mounted in the racing trucks? i bought cobra seats for mine, rather than ali kirkey seats, but with the seats in, i can't see how the lower harness would be fitted. once the seats are in, they take up the full width of the thick steel plates in the floor
has anyone got any photos they might be able to post on here to help?
cheers

no new pics at the minute unfortunately mate. just been doing boring stuff, the kind of jobs that don't look very impressive when they're done lol.
add to that i keep ending up out of work lol. how unlucky is it to lose 2 jobs in 1 year? the 2nd one was only temporary right enough.
will hopefully get a lot done in the next few weeks though. got all the major parts in i think, engine's has been running briefly. no cooling plugged in so only a few seconds at a time, but at least it works!
here's a video of that though

:)
got all the engine, gearbox, prop, axle (still needs to be rebuilt, but i got the work done to the diff and side gears, got the half shafts in, etc) got all the body work except the 2 back covers, seats, dashboard, gauges, switches, ignition system, lights, fuel system, brakes etc so should be drivable soon i hope! just a case of getting out there and doing it lol

Looking good, that windscreen brace will have to go for an mot tho :)
That's looking cool! Have you got stuff like a windscreen demister etc. sorted out for the SVA, or are you more concerned with getting it drivable first?

yeah, the brace will have to go :( more a IVA failure than MOT i think, but a quick 10 minute job with a hacksaw will sort that if need be.
not going to take it for IVA (the new SVA) with a windscreen, heaters, wipers, and washers though. just a crash helmet. quite acceptable. going to put one in after though. mot is less strict on wipers and washers. also, will be on the look out for a heated screen. sierra ones fit don't they?

Yep, Sierra screen is perfect. Only thing to bear in mind with a glass screen, the bodywork is prone to flexing (not just as a result of contact lol), and therefore it isn't unknown for the screen to crack. We went through loads of screens before switching to Lexan but then it won't be heated like you want. And it scratched like feck so probably not great for the road.
