One of my favourite authors for producing books that were just plain fun to relax and read passed away at his desk Monday morning (Jan.18/2009).

Here is a link from his hometown Boston Herald: http://www.bostonherald.com/entertainment/books/view.bg?articleid=1226710&pos=breaking

For those who only saw the cheesy Spenser TV shows didn't really grasp the fun of his books. His characters were gritty, yet full of humour. He brought Boston alive, and while some of the plots might have been a bit far fetched, his hero's desire to get to the truth, no matter what the cost and do the right thing by all made his hero one worthy of admiration.

I found reading his books a guilty pleasure, and I shall miss his wit and style.

Robert B. Parker, you wrote books for people to READ, not pontificate about and we ( my wife and I ) shall miss you...
