Top Gear is reporting that they finally have an official photo of it:

As does The Car Connection:

Whilst I'd like to say that this is part of the "kinetic" bloodline already seen in the Fiesta, the styling has been done before... by everyone else. That pinched D-Pillar may as well be on the Astra, i30, Mazda 3, etc etc etc.

To be honest I was hoping for something a little more cutting edge from Ford, perhaps I shouldn't have bothered.

Cutting edge isn't a strategy companies just trying to get back into the black are going to do. Not on a car that has to work in all markets and has a slim profit margin. Sad really, because I think North Americans NEED someone to give them the sort of car you guys in Europe enjoy. Small cars here are often dumbed down, or just made very vanilla. Thank god for the Mazda 3 being at least a good performance car, but man..the styling is still a little goofy. As for the rest of the small car marketplace, dull sells...and I don't get why.

If you are looking for style, the Italians have it.

The Mk1 Focus was ahead of its time with its styling, since then the Focus has become duller and duller.

Daniel
11th January 2010, 22:03
Agreed. Same with the Mk1 Ka. The current one is just horrible and they also managed to make the Panda/500 interior look rubbish

The 'new edge' design philosophy > than 'kinetic' design.

Looks utter pants! In fact, it looks like the US version of the car, and we in Europe will get the good version. But no.....

A giant step backwards methinks.

From @sniffpetrol: New Ford Focus is a 'world car'. This allows people as far apart as US, Europe, China or Russia to wonder why the front end is so <censored>.

Should hear the noise the Australians are making right now...Ford plans to swap the Falcon for the Taurus

Rollo
16th January 2010, 07:11
Now that would be a backwards step; epecially if the car is imported from the US. Ford already tried the Taurus in Australia, and to be honest if that was "export quality" then it leaves a lot to be desired.
Put simply the Australian built Falcon is better than the Taurus in every department. It's even won a 5-star NCAP rating.

the style is good but we will see if the performance is good enough, but i read some articles that some of the ford focus parts (http://www.partstrain.com/ShopByVehicle/FORD/FOCUS) of ford focus mk3 are fully upgraded.

You guys all talking style style style, what the +~`!!^&???

I keep making the tragic mistake of thinking that this is a motorsport oriented forum.

Shirley, I can't be serious.

So it looks like everything or anything, you have a number plate on it so you shouldn't be climbing into other people's car that hain't the problem.

You guys want to see that the rear suspension is made of?
Still.

I am impressed by the 1.0L, 3 cylinder EcoBoost engine. Styling at the front isn't the most appealing though I do like the rear end.

Other than it being an RS, I'm not entirely certain of what I'm looking at here (an actual car, a foreign version or just a concept), but I have to admit that I like the overall looks of this car. I'm going to soon need a new daily driver - the Subie WRX is getting some age on her. If I could get this particular car, with this particular styling, as a turbo 4 cylinder with AWD (gotta have AWD), I would head to the dealership this summer. Sadly, I'm less than thrilled with the styling of the new WRX's. Just like the Jaguar XK8, after the 2005 MY, I feel that the styling went down the tubes. :(

For a daily driver, this car is me: the middle aged dude that refuses to accept that he's not 25 any longer. :p

That is an Mk.2 Focus RS. That particular car is after the facelift in 2008.

I suspect that the Mk.3 Focus RS will look similar to the Mk.3 Focus ST

Probably the glasshouse will have to be altered, because as far as I know, there isn't yet a 3-Door Mk.3 Focus.

Well these cars are commonly know in the circles I am in as a Frod (rhymes with the crime) F:ck-us.
(Well it is a fraud in a way since it is merely a fwd car, a samhe when the essentially identical Mazda can be had with the same excellent Duratec/PZ and AWD)
The new Sub-a-rat, since it is essential a cheesoid set up in the rear every biyt as weak and flimsy as the Frod F%ck-us and it even looks nearly the same, is known as a Suck-us.

But the new short black skirt is not new but old:
RWD
More fun, less bother.
Stick a good multi-plate diff in the back and good tires and you'lll have more fun at fractions of the cost.
(Says the man who will be un-awd-ing his 4x4 Cosworth rally car soon)

I'd suggest a nice 240 Volvo turbo built right....with the right parts.
More fun than a Subie costsing 10 times as much.

Nobody want to see what the oem suspension looks like in these F)(ked-us?

The interior looks identical to that of a Mk 1 focus. In the stock version at least, the Mk 2 interior got a spruce so this picture confuses me.

That front end is disgusting. The whole car seems out of proportion.

That's because that IS the interior of a Mk.1 Focus. The interior of the Mk.2 Focus RS looks like this:

Wassamatta U? That's called "the dead fish mouth" look. It's the latest thing man!!! Look its everywhere, on Audis, on Evos, on Fang Yongs, EVERYWHERE!

Having a grill that looks like a dead fish mouth is the new black mini-skirt for all the boys.
