Should be a good contest between BMW and VW on the Dakar.

The Hummer could also surprise with more dessert this year, and why not the ex works Lancers (now gasoline)?

Obviously the great candidates are th VW.
All year working for this 5 cars, 4 excellent drivers, biggest budget and so on..

Its not the drivers who are arrogant, its the team members who give the interviews, saying: We are the best and there are no opponents for us. Its always the same every year since they started Dakar years ago. With such an attitude you don't get any friends!

Well this year those claims are certainly true. They are the best and anything other than victory is a complete failure. I did not know of these comments in previous years, but it makes you think more and more they should go rallying if that is indeed the way they feel.

The Hummer team had excellent news yesterday, 2nd driver (Ronn Bailey, an amateur) was changed to BJ Baldwing, who is a serious contender, BAJA driver!!

Robby Gorden, De Gavardo and Baldwing, good team.

Despite the best efforts of the Dakar organizers this year, a group of fans kept returning to a position they were asked to leave several times, as it was both dangerous and outside the spectator safe zones (This is as of yet unconfirmed but highly likely).

The Sculits-Leardi entry 418 eventually crashed into this spot killing one woman. Now of course the anti-car news organizations are spreading the story worldwide with outdated fatality statistics left over from the Africa days.

Hopefully in the coming two weeks we can watch and enjoy the rally without needless tragedy...I've really been looking forward to this one.
