Milwaukee Mile just announced, no more major races for now...Stay with me on this. Why don't the folks at Road America take a shot at promoting the races at Milw Mile? They have more than enough staff in place, pr, sponsor pros and hospitality and contacts with major sanctioning bodies. Cut a deal with Wi State Fair B.O.D. and put a skeleton staff at the mile, run sponsor deals and major activities from their new offices in Elkhart. It's a win-win and here's why. RA comes out a hero for saving the Mile and...they eliminate a competitor from way back. They'd have the opportunity to cross-pollinate their wonderful road course with one of the great ovals in the world. I'm not saying they should take on any debt that the State Fair previous promoters ran up...I'm saying they just could be the savior and make themselves a little cash and look like heroes. Your thoughts?

Why would they want to do that? Oh, so they could make a ton of money off of all the IRL tickets. Yeah, I guess that makes sense.

Why doesn't Road America just close down and run the track at Milwaukee instead? Everyone knows ovals are way better.

I'd much prefer they simply promote a race at their own track. Could we do an earth sized cut and paste and just move RA closer to civilization so more people will go there again. Loosing Milwaukee is just a shame. All of racing needs to cut costs, not just the teams. From ticket costs to sanctioning fees, it all needs to drop.

I'd pull my own teeth to see F1 race at RA.

Call Bernie, and find out what the going rate is for a mouthful of teeth. I might throw in a few myself.

Hey, I'm just looking at economies of scale. RA is only an hour from Milwaukee and by having one staff handle it at both ends makes sense. One ticket seller, one promoter, one hospitality manager, one pr manager, etc.etc. And I'm only talking about handling two additional major events. Jeesh! You all should be happy with this idea. And it would increase RAs prowess in the industry. If you remember, CART originally ran at BOTH circuits! It makes sense because RA does not compete with the Mile for sanctioned races, Indy or NASCAR, yet they know all the players at both racing bodies and having one professional group handle it would result in a saving for both Milwaukee and RA. RA could benefit from the profits of these events at Milwaukee (or even charge State Fair Park a nominal fee to handle), and don't give me any hooey about these events not being profitable IF handled professionally. There haven't been any professionals at the Mile since Carl Haas promoted the events years ago, only crooks evidently. Let's all start looking for solutions and cut back on the griping. I thought we were all racing devotees on this site!

Easy answer! Road America does NOT have the $ required by the crooks on the State Fair Board.

That's a real shame...

A shame?? Why is it a shame that a racing series has worked with a race track to keep a race in the Wisconsin market for the fans?

And why is it a shame when the tin tops add a ROAD RACE to their series. I'd watch ANYTHING race at Road America.

It's a shame because Indycars should be at Road America long before a second tier stock car series. Why couldn't Indycar have put this together? Why couldn't Indycar have worked with a race track to keep a race in the Wisconsin market for the fans?

Sure, NNS will be fun to watch them slide around, but I should as hell would rather see Indycars go there before Nascar.

I'm sure RA would have loved to host IndyCar, but not at the $1.5 million sanction fee. They will have as large if not better attendance as IndyCar would have brought at slightly over 50% the cost when television revenue is included. IndyCar is pricing itself out of the business. It is a shame because the open wheel show is better, but . . .

Oh, I'm not blaming RA, and forgive me if it comes off that way. Indycar needs to step up and realize that both Road America and the Milwaukee Mile are part of its heritage and they should be at both of them. Now I don't know if that means you rotate between Milwaukee and RA from year to year, or you run both every year, but I feel that RA should be represented as should Milwaukee, and the Indycar Series needs to make it happen in 2011.

Well you see where the braintrust is thinking. They are not. The IRL has been led by people who cant think outside the box, and are now being run by people counting every bean, because Tony's sisters are tired of watching the family fortune get flushed down the toilet.

Cant blame NASCAR for going in there, they want to race in that part of the world, and Road America welcomed them with open arms. Too many stupid and greedy people are involved in OW racing....
