Hi,

Stunning and incredible unexpected news today in endurance world !!!! Oreca's Hughes de Chaunac and Peugeot's Olivier Quesnel announced a superb deal: Oreca will lead the 4th 908 at LMS and 24h of Le Mans race in 2010...and will get a Peugeot engine(instead of the current AIM)for the 2011 season !!!!

Chaunac explained months ago he was looking for a partnership with a big constructor, here he has a great one :bounce:

Of course, that means end of partnership with Henri Pescarolo :(

fantastic news, will they have a 2008 spec or will it be a current one for LM. Hopefully Oreca will fare better than Pescarolo did last year

Apparently should be a 2010 spec. 908 for Oreca ;)

And from 2011 a factory-equal ACO spec. V8(no idea if gazoline, HDI or Hybrid) :D

it should be a good 24 Hr race, too bad AMR is out in 2010, but they will be back in 2011

And during the 2010 season, ORECA will developp its own chassis(named Oreca 02)ready to receive the future Peugeot V8 in 2011 ;)

Young and talented driver Nicolas Lapierre just announced on Endurance-Info that he signed a deal of two years with ORECA and will drive the 908 at LMS + Le Mans in 2010 and the future Oreca P02-Peugeot in 2011 !!! :)

These news were expected, but not official until recently...

The other ORECA driver for 2010 LMS+Le Mans should be Olivier Panis, but for now nothing official yet ;)

After Nicolas Lapierre, Olivier Panis just confirmed in an interview last week-end(during a round of Trophée Andros)he will drive the 908 ORECA at LMS + Le Mans ;)

About the 3rd driver of the 24h famous race everything is still opened, but there's a rumour about Emmanuel Collard(who could join Peugeot-Sport) ;)

Tomorrow monday Peugeot-Sport have their press conference in Paris to present the 2010 program and drivers, and it could be possible ORECA team to participate... ;)

A big unknown remains: the name of the 3rd driver in the ORECA 908 at Le Mans(and possibly the LMS Castelet 8 hours race)

Doubt if it's Petter then, as those dates clash with Rally Mexico. I was kinda hoping Petter would do Le Mans for Oreca.

Gosh !!! Get rid of that boring "carbon black" !!! :mark:

Would have been nicer all painted yellow/red/blue

I dont mind really the bare carbon, I don't think the chrome goes well with the colors though, White would've been a better choice

On some pics of the live presentation(see http://www.pitlane-vision.com/ )livery looks better to me

This week-end is Portimao LMS round(Portugal), and the ORECA 908 regular crew(Olivier Panis/Nicolas Lapierre)will be reinforced by presence of Stéphane Sarrazin(as in Le Castellet)during all remaining events(Portimao, Hungaroring and Silverstone) ;)

Edit: but entrylist of Portimao is really poor(especially four LMP1s, two GT1s) :mark:

Only four LMP1's and two GT1's? That's terrible!

Tom206wrc
13th September 2010, 15:25
Congratulations to ORECA for the LMS team title and driver title(Sarrazin)

I can only wish to Hugues de Chaunac's team a Peugeot "90X" in 2011 ;)

Also they will be running 5-6 ORECA's on both sides of the Atlantic (Presumably that means 'x' in the ALMS and 'y' racing in the LMS), and with an engine of the customers choice. So presumably then we could see a customer ORECA-built chasis in LMP2 for example with a Lola-Judd or Zytek engine.

Looking forward to it. They already have said somewhere that they will be supplying teams with chasis. Three teams will be running with ORECA built chasis. But whether it is a second hand chasis previously built by ORECA and used or newly built by ORECA I don't know.

Dunno about the ILMC roster but the LMS roster has Oreca in a very prominent role in LMP2 with four of the 11 teams runnning (new/old) engines built by both Oreca and another engine manufacturer. Boutsen Energy Racing and Top Drive Services will have an engine built by both ORECA and Nissan inside. The Oreca-Nissan engine will be a 03 spec since it's name is Oreca 03. The Oreca engine in Pegasus Racing's cars are also build by Courage with help I assume from Honda (Honda Performance Development). And Race Performance will also have an Oreca 03 engine in but the engine will also have been put together by Judd.

And of course all the cars in the FLM Series are 09' spec Oreca engines.

What a fantastic result for the "association" Peugeot and ORECA to win such a race like the 12 hours of Sebring this week-end :D

Tom206wrc

Official this evening...Team ORECA chose Marc Gené and Nicolas Minassian(ex-Peugeot-Sport ??)to part with Nicolas Lapierre on their 908 HDI FAP at PLM/Road Atlanta next month

Reason is obvious: Hughes de Chaunac won't have time in three weeks to test new drivers in the proto and crew must perfectly know it on a 10 hours long race ;)
Also it's sign that ORECA want a really good result on that event(if not same as Sebring, why not a podium) :bounce:
