Can anybody explain why is Wilks driving for Skoda Italia??? Why not Basso for example?

Mirek
18th January 2010, 04:12
I think You're a bit confused :)

Program of Wilks in IRC is not programme of Skoda Italia but programme of Skoda UK. Britis Skoda pays, therefore they chose British driver. Skoda Italia itself will probably start in C.I.R. only.

But Skoda UK doesn't have it's own team while Skoda Italia has very good team around Piero Longhi and Mario Fornaris, therefore Skoda Italia runs a car for Skoda UK.

PS Basso was offered a seat by Skoda as far as I know...

It does not look good from the maps.

Currently it is visible from weather maps that most probably we are going to see icy conditions on stage 11, stage 13 and stage 15. With the other stages the possibility is not very high, only very small parts in some stages in the morning.

Clever move British teams finally learn? If you have a technical / legality issue on Monte Carlo, at least it helps if you use a French company to build the major component where there is "some uncertainty

But that was tyres. OK they allegedly had the Dakar devised technology of special valves to allow air out when the pressures increased from driving. M.Frequelin's team changed these tyres in a non tyre changing zone so that the car had normal valves when it went into Parc Ferme. Or so the service park rumour mill of 2002 had us beleive. Long time ago now so who really cares...............

RS
19th January 2010, 08:58
I like the liveries of Sarrazin, Ogier, Magalhaes, Wittmann and Gardemeister.

It always surprises me when a moneyed driver turns up without sponsors on his car (Maurin for example), the opposite of Luca Betti :D

Also, Toni has some sponsors but the writing is so small you will never be able to read who they are when the car is moving! Do the people who design the liveries not think of this?!

Franz and Interwetten have got it right

Edit: I also really like the livery of Oliveira. Interesting he runs Michelins. Is this because BFG is not represented in Brazil?

Weather for tonight and tomorrow (Attention! this forecast is composed by myself and I am not responsible for any consequences :-)).

SSS prologue.
Should be without rain but still damp and some places very wet because of melting snow. No minus temperatures. temperature between +3 and +4 degrees

SS1 and SS3 the chance of rain is very high but at the same time the temperatures during the whole stage should remain above 0 degrees and most probably there will be no snow and most probably even no ice at all (snow-walls on the side of the road should be still present). Temperature varies during the stage from 5 degrees to 2 degrees. Meeke told that there will be snow on the stage. I dont think so. Only on the sides.
SS2 and SS4
The chance of rain is very high again and temperatures during the whole stage should remain between +2 and +4 degrees. In some places there might be a lot of water on the road. Chance of ice is nearly 0

Thursday forecast tomorrow :-)

The changing weather, and surface conditions looks to become a real challenge this year. Many have done most for their test and pace notes according to winter conditions, and if we now will have some tarmac, some wet tarmac, some snow and some ice inside one SS, that makes it interesting to chose the best rubber !

Maybe Profilex would be best ? :D

Seems like the most they will have to deal with is a wet tarmac stage with a few dry patches. We are a week too late for anything more.
