Nice! Some authentic rally stuff for this event!
Challenging cars + long tracks too!

Bruce, could we make a new team as Hoofhearted
and jimakos haven't shown up around here lately...
We could stay In the same team, for the new season too
and keep GrAce Motorsports name If you like!
So, are we a team? :)

Bruce D
2nd November 2009, 11:07
BTW to clarify something - you can only choose 1 of the cars shown in the list for the event. You can't use all of them on the event. So pick a car... (LCD, you need to just clarify your entry).

LCD, we can join together as GRACE Motorsport, no problems. However, jimakos's place is still kept because he's out for a while due to having a hand injury in a road accident, so I told him to take it easy and don't expect him back soon. Not sure where Hoofhearted has gone. If you want to team back up with Hoofhearted later, thats also cool, but for now I can enter you under GRACE?

A warning to everyone, watch those Mont-Herman stages, they are tight and twisty and you will fall off the mountain very easily.

I will decide later if i can or can't participate.

I will definitely participate but I haven't figured out what group A car to drive.

I'm expecting people to take this one off. I was going to originally myself but then decided that I actually need to practice finishing a bloody event now. =P

Ok Bruce, I updated my entry for this event!
The car will be Subaru Impreza 555 and the team-at least for this event-
GRACE Motorsport!
I'm looking very much forward to this! ;)

Too bad there is no early Lancer available (his UK win in 1992(?)

Get a laptop tomorrow. may take part depending on how well the downloading goes....

Bruce D

His RAC win was 1989.

Surprisingly entries are flooding for this one, 5 so far in less than 24 hours. People want to warm-up before the main championship.

Mont Herman Poll

How many times have you called for help, during recce ?

A. 5 times
B. 10 times
C. 0ver 20 times

I choose C! :D

I guess driving fast In those 2 stages ( Mont Herman v.3&4 )
Is out of question... :dozey: The grip should be stronger I think...

NeverKnow
3rd November 2009, 07:44
I'd pick D - none. But that doesn't mean I didn't crash, oh no. I was lucky I was able to get back on the stage on my own power about dozen times :D . Of course there where few times I hit a tree head-on, so continuing was pretty much not possible as it didn't agree with the radiator and engine. I agree that the grip is lacking (feels like driving on a roughed up glass, you have some grip but if you lose it, you're pretty much off) so are the pacenotes for the stage in my opinion. But you can get lot of sideways action which is always nice.
Does anyone know if there is a way we can edit the notes for the BTB stages?

Bruce D
3rd November 2009, 11:11
If you had the original BTB file you could easily edit the notes, I know that, but note sure how you can get the original file. Ask the creator maybe.

Hey guys..

downloading the 09 mod, at the end of it all it will not allow me to install it as I am not logged in as the administrator :(

Is there anyway around this? I doubt I will be able to get IT to give me that sort of access...

My season may have an early end....

Bruce D
4th November 2009, 13:38
Is it Vista or Xp? If its Vista, it may just be Vista being a moron again - that admin rights thing is bloody annoying, cos most of the time you have admin rights anyway.

If its XP, you will unfortunately need the code, or try to log in as Administrator with no password, sometimes people don't put passwords on that profile.

While I couldn't install it on the laptop at home, I was able to install all the folders on a flash drive on my desktop at work.

Perhaps When I return home I can simply drop them into the laptop(?)

Stay tuned...

Bruce D
5th November 2009, 05:31
Yes, you may be able to do this. I installed it all on my C: drive but then got another drive for gaming, which became my G: drive and I simply copied the whole RBR folder over and changed the desktop links to the correct location and it all works perfectly.

The pacenotes on the BTB stages are god awful.

I only found one corner that was wrong on Mont Herman, it said one way and the road went the other, but overall its not bad. They are as consistent on those stages as they are in the original stages I feel. They are fine on Tervainen. So where's the problem?

Did my runs last night. Bad, but I managed to finish this one. Ended two stages with no brakes and DNF'd on one with a blown engine and had the engine boiling on Sweetlamb too. But that Impreza is very weak and not consistent. I hit side-on at the first Sweetlamb hairpin and that apparently damaged the radiator completely??? :s

Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only one having trouble on this event so lets see what the results bring.

lcd
6th November 2009, 06:47
BTB tracks graphically, look good-no doubt over that!
But I think they could have been much better, regarding the grip Issue... :(
Tarmac stages feel absolutely great but on gravel, I don't enjoy the
feeling very much! Feels like driving on glass or not?
In addition, the lack of particles give a false perception of the road surface...

tannat

Having laptop issues :( ...

I know what you mean...Laptops unfortunately don't support
RBR decently! Low graphics and gameplay alteration
are the most common symptoms!
Unless we're taliking about a powerful laptop... ;)

In my opinion the notes are consistent but not detailed enough to drive fast with them. Medium Left and Medium Right is all good what if there is a crest. How far apart are the corners? But it is the same for everyone, so it is fair play. I try to keep tighter with the cornering as the corners might be long and they can even tighten bad, even when it just says K corner.

I hit side-on at the first Sweetlamb hairpin and that apparently damaged the radiator completely??? :s
I could have been that the body deformed and bent the radiator or maybe it ruptured the hose going into the radiator. Don't know how detailed the damage model is in RBR.
Am I right if I say that this it is longest RBR rally we have had so far. I'm looking forward seeing the result for this one. :)

Bruce D
6th November 2009, 08:19
How far apart are the corners?

Am I right if I say that this it is longest RBR rally we have had so far. I'm looking forward seeing the result for this one. :)

Yes, I've noticed that - there are no distances to the corners. You get this instruction, think its over the next crest, get there and its still about 100 metres up the road.

I'm sure it is, distance-wise. The results should be really interesting.

The funny thing is, driving the Mont Herman stages I was thinking "geez, when is this ever going to end!", but when I got to the end of the Tervaniemi 15km stage I was thinking "aw man, is that it?!? Let me do that again!!!" Man, that stage is THE stage of RBR! :D :champion:

We should have a fun-event rallysprint there after next season.

I agree, Tervaniemi has Impressed me the mostl so far! ;)
It's more like a real route than a game stage!

lcd

Finished Day1! After a clean run of Tervaniemi came the exhausting Mont-Herman v.4!!!
A couple of spuns, one call for spestators help
and some not very well performed hairpin turns, were my bad moments!
The last 2km before finish were breath taking! :D
Generally I drove carefully, but I risked flooring It a bit, at some occasions!
Day 2+3 will be more challenging, as I have never run Mont-Herman v.3
and Tervaniemi 15km before!

I've finished day one and it was very tough one.
On the first stage I missed the first junction and stalled the car twice. Lost some time there and had a clear run of the stage after that. The funny thing is I had the junction marked in the notes but because the start of the stage was so fast I didn't expect it to come so soon.
SS2 was very tough. Because it was slippy I had to corner sideways like group A cars used to in the 90's. Because of this I had few near misses due to the fact that some corners turned out to be very long ones and I had to brake midcorner to fit on the road. I also had an off 16km into the stage when there was K left on the crest. I thought it would K left after the crest but no it wasn't. I went down the hill but luckily the car stayed in one piece and I managed to finish the stage. Though I did get in rhytm on the stage but most of the time I was braking too early for the corners which also I think had impact on my stage time.
Overall I think it was good day and can't wait for day two and three.

Awful rally for me. DNF'd on two stages. Due to the complete lack of consistency in the notes for mount herman.

NeverKnow
8th November 2009, 13:03
Finished day two and three. Things went normally on most of the stages as I got more used to the car.
I had an incident on SS4 when about 3km into the stage I hit a small tree with rear of the car because I was carrying too much speed through the corner.
SS5 went OK'sh. I struggled on some parts of the stages. Especially at the end where was series of K turns. I also braked too early for some corners and possible that cost me time. I took special care 16km into the stage and didn't wanted to go off there again.
SS6 nothing special but I was driving slow I guess and just wanted finish the stage. I never liked the Japan stages anyway.
On SS3 and SS7 I didn't had any problems. Probably I was more flat out on the last stage than I had been in any other stages in the rally.
Overall a good long rally and I really liked it's length. I wonder if we could make rallies the same lenght in the season 2. Will look forward to results.
Here are view picture from SS6 as it was the only stage with out of the car replay possibility. Note on the second picture that the marshal doesn't even care that a rally car is driving by.

Well, this was some hard stuff! Finished the rally and am glad I didn't
have any retirements (though I was so close at some occasions!)

No problems to PirkaII and Shepherds ShieldII at all! Clean run for
Sweet Lamb (loved the grip on that stage) and then comes Mont-Herman v.3
(It's the same as v.4 afterall-that was a nice surprise!) but used spectators help
a couple of times and Tervaniemi15km-the best track of RSRBR09-where
car felt great, rhythm was good, but fell Into those ditches twice
and lοst some time getting out of them, without using spectators help,
as I've noticed you lose more time when using It!

Overall, It was a tough rally, and I think such long stages are very challenging!
I'm looking forward to the results very much!

Bruce D

Looks like I lost a lot more time going down the wrong road on Tervaniemi 15km than I thought.

Got confirmation that Tannat was out, so here are the results.

An interesting rally, LCD making the most of the short stages but NeverKnow showing consistency over the mega long stages to win the rally quite easily in the end. Macd had a terrible rally, never being on the pace and eventually crashing out. As for myself, well I lost just too much time with no brakes on 2 stages and a crash out and SuperRally on the send Mont Herman stage.

Check out the splits on the Mont Herman stages - amazing how close some of us were on that stage.

Welldone NeverKnow!
I remember from season1, long stages were your strong point,
while short ones didn't always work out fine...
Summing up fun events results, seems that long stages
are going to be the defining factor for season2!
Once again, results book Including split times looks great!

I'm happy with the results though still surprised. What could be better than winning, right?
Anyway on shorter stages rally was much closer but I have to agree with you LCD about the longer stages defining who will win as it is in real rallies. On longer stages there were also some close battles like on SS5 between LCD and Bruce after about 12km on the second split the gap was 0.33 seconds between two of you.
I can't agree about Macd being off the pace. On some stages he was faster than anyone of us but had bad luck and something happened to him.
Still a great rally and looking forward to the Monte Carlo Rally.
