View Full Version : Raikkonen to ICS????

The number of question marks mean this is just a theory, but Kimi has been pretty clear he'll only sign with McLaren or no one next year and said there were a couple of options.

Got to wonder if he if would consider a top ride with an ICS team. Supposedly Chip has been thinking adding a third team. There's probably an open seat at AGR, NHL and KVRT.

Just throwing it out there.

I believe he'll do Rallying before the IRL

out of pure interest and slightly off topic, anyone know the last finn to drive in indycar? My mind has gone blank on that one.

anyway, i agree with the above; Kimi would do rallying over ICS for sure IMO. I for one hope he stays in F1 though

Wasnt Juno Annalha or whatever his name was Finnish? He did the Long Beach GP in 2008. If not then JJ Lehto in 1998. And before that Fredrick Ekblom in 1996 for Walker racing.

I think Raikkonen will never go to Indy car because he enjoyed his WRC drive in Finland.

Give your collective heads a shake.
Did you see his salary and salary demands?
He wants more than the entire field of ICS drivers make!

He could run half of the cars for a year with his yearly salary :D

That's not going to be good if he wants to move to TCS.

Eh, I don't think its likely, but if you were Kimi and wanted to extend a middle finger to F-1 going to the IRL, especially if you could land a 3rd seat at Gannassi and win a championship and most of the races like Nigel did it would be rewarding.

Now, the ICS is nowhere near what it was when Nigel came over, and you could argue that Kimi is nowhere near the driver Nigel was, but who knows.

Yep, Kimi is nowhere near the driver Nigel was, he's much better.

Juho Annala ;)

Only competed in that one long beach race. but he was the last one, I knew there was someone recently :D

But the last regular must have been Lehto I think, although my CART memory is hazy.......

Nigel's F1 stats:
Races:187
Championships:1
Wins:31 (17%)
Podiums:59 (32%)
Pole positions:32 (17%)
Fastest laps:30 (16%)

Kimi's F1 stats:
Races:156
Championships:1
Wins:18 (12%)
Podiums:62 (40%)
Pole positions:16 (10%)
Fastest laps:35 (22%)

Me thinks you have a strange measure of "much better".

Here's my guess on how this question would go:

- Reporter: "Kimi, would you ever consider going to the IRL?"
- Kimi: "What's the IRL???"

Langdale Forest

I belive that is what he would say!

Either Kimi gets a big check to race for McLaren or else he is off to the WRC.

No, it would be more like:

- Reporter: "Kimi, would you ever consider going to the IRL?"
- Kimi: "What's [mumble] [mumble] [mumble] L???"

You can take that WDC off Mansell's resume, beating Patrese wasn't worth anything, they had all the electronic gismos while other teams didn't. A good example of that is the 92 Brasilian GP qualifying where Mansell, on pole, was 2,5 seconds quicker than Senna, who was third on the grid. Anyway... this is the wrong forum for that debate...

Kimi would want to do something he likes, not driving around in the IRL with significantly lesser drivers.
He'll be in F1 or WRC, or nothing.

And in contrast, when Mansell jumped Newman Haas paid him more than Frank Williams was offering.

No chance this happens.

That''s the truth. Kimi couldn't afford the pay cut.

Lol, exactly my sentiment. IRL to Kimi would be like asking him to go race GP2 or FF.

Slim and None have a better chance at landing a ride than Kimi.

Being paid $20M next season to to make snowballs at home sounds like it should make things a little easier to manage.

Kimi in the IRL? I'm even more confident of that never happening than I was of Jensen winning a second race in a Honda.

Even if someone in the IRL could afford to hire Kimmi, I think he would rather sit on his ass for a year and be paid nothing than drive a crapwagon on an oval.
