Not saying I thought it was any kind of fluke that Montoya got into the Chase, but these last 4 races have really proven to me that this team is Championship caliber. Didn't quite have the car to win today, but another top 3 finish is very impressive IMO. Still looks like a JJ/Martin show, but if either of those have hiccups in one of the final races, JPM will be there to capitalize.

I'm starting to think Montoya will win the championship without winning a race. What does NASCAR do with that aftermath?

Nothing against Jimmie Johnson, but I just watched some of the press-room interview with him after winning today's race, and what is it? He seems vaguely depressed after each win. The press conference mood feels like someone just died, and he giving their eulogy. I completely respect his talent as a driver, and everyone's got their own way of handling success, but he's now in the points lead and just won another race in the chase, and he couldn't be less thrilled. Mark Martin came in fourth and was acting like he won the lottery.

Jimmie's happy about his success, he's just acting like he's been there before, because he has.

can someone please tell me why California was a "Chase" track, what an utter joke, but typical Nascar throwing Phantom debris cautions again to keep any excitement to a horrible track.

I'm starting to think Montoya will win the championship without winning a race. What does NASCAR do with that aftermath?I totally respect your opinnion, however I think Johnson has JPM by the short-hairs.
But if Juan wins the whole shooting match (without a race win) NASCAR will do what it does best;
Put a positve spin on it. :burnout: :s pin: :burnout: :s pin: :burnout:

What do you want him to do next week? Copy Tom Cruise on Oprah by jumping on the table and shout Hallelujah!?

I also think he was probably warn out from having to take care of his foundation in San Diego (El Cajon)
The broadcasters made it sound like it was in the neighborhood! It's well over 100 miles from Fontana to El Cajon!
At any rate, I actually prefer to see athletes take accomplishments in stride!
You can bet that after the race away from the cameras he was having a ball :bounce: :s mokin:

I doubt it. With the consistency of the 48 and the 5, JPM can't get past them without a win. If he wins the championship, he will have won a race.

Talladega makes people do crazy things.
For Talladega that's getting in the car and going out on the track.
