Right once again i was puzzled at this weekends race. I've been meaning to ask this for ages but never got around to it. After the cars line up on the grid the teams change the tyres around, can anyone tell me why? something to do with wearing them in? cheers :D

At a guess to get rid of the wear the extra lap has put on the front tyres, the rears will be fresher so are rotated onto the front for that little extra bite. But its only a guess

So you get a more balanced heat cycle at both ends of the car.

FWD - front wheels does all the hard work and you don't want cold rear tyres.

Vice versa for RWD depending on car set up/tyre wear//balance issues.

yeah that's what i thought, but they don't swap them straight to the back, it's diagnol, so front left goes on rear right n vice versa
