Looking forward to these races and hope that Haga adds to his points lead. It's just a pity so many race dates this year clash with MotoGP's dates.
It'll be interesting to see how Camier performs.

For me it is no problem that WSBK clashes with MotoGP. WSBK is very exciting and MotoGP is boring.

Hope to see great performances from Haga, Haslam, Smrž and a position in the points for Baiocco.

Camier looks to be comfortable on his virgin outing on the Aprilia and the track and was bettered by Biaggi in FP1 and Q1 by .727sec and a mere .269sec respectively.
Just how good is Camier? IMO a potential top 5 placing at this event.

Nieto also looking good .............so far.

This last week has flown by. We will get a repeat or highlights of the motogp races but not before I've heard the results on TV or radio even though I'll quickly put my hands over my ears and yell yah yah yah (or something equally intelligent). I hope the 2010 calendar will not have so many Motogp and WSB rounds on the same weekend.

Fabrizio flying in free practice so far, and Haga not far behind. That's a good sign. Rea again in the mix. I hope he stays away from Haga during the weekend:

It's a good thing that qualifying position is meaningless when it comes to Haga. Hope he gets away well - last week's performance seems to indicate that the new Ducati launch control works well! - and can fight for the win.

This and Portimao are going to be epic!!!!

Would be great for Haga to extend his points lead. Looking forward to more great racing.
Based in Superpole times I may have to eat my words about a potential top 5 for Camier but ....who knows what can happen in a race....He has the tenacity of a hungry pit-bull.

Camier was pretty slow (relatively speaking!)in free practice as well and I think he'll do really well for a top 10.
Like most here, I'm also hoping for Haga to win and hopefully he can have a great head-to-head race with Spies without any undue outside interference (I'm looking in your direction Jonathon Rea ;) ). It's gonna go down to the wire!

Joan Lascorz has been real fast all weekend so hopefully this is the round that he can deliver team green (and red) their much deserved first win of the season and Cal and Eugene have a ding-dong battle in their fight for the title.

I missed half of race 1 due to daylight saving (checked the Foxtel guide on Friday and didn't think about it being NSW-centric) but the second half seems to have been the most interesting - VERY close at the end and Haga looks solid for race 2 if he can get away a bit better. A bit of a shame that Biaggi screwed Haga around but Haga was gracious after the race.

WSS is next!

Sorry Eccles!!! I'm very particular about spoilers on other forums I'm on but here I've found over the years that it's open slather and very much 'real time' updates... I refrained from posting actual results just in case.

But certainly an interesting round and what I had hoped for, the last round will be dynamite!

:D

Rod, I think that it says more about the bike than the rider - Camier is a hotshot Superbike racer but the RSV4 is more GP bike than Superbike. If I were a 250 rider who couldn't get a ride in MotoGP or Moto2, the RSV4 would be my choice.

In the conference after race 2 Nori Haga gave some insight into just how much the pressure had been getting to him, talking about not sleeping properly after Nurburgring. He rode two very controlled races I thought. Superb riding by Spies in race 1. What happened to Fabrizio? I watched him on the grid pre warm up lap for race 1 and thought that he wouldn't do well, he appeared way too unsettled. There are no expectations coming from Haga that he do anything less that go for a win same as the other riders. Even I felt for Ben Spies in race 2 - the up and down fortunes of motorcycle racing, it's happened to them all at some time. About Tom Sykes, why isn't he doing well? I remember him chasing Bayliss in a race last year?? and looking so good. I hope he is ok after crashing out.

I couldn't see the interview, stupid Eurosport. I think that's true, because after race two, after his victory lap when Haga came to the pit, you could see Tardozzi very emotional, jumping up and down, giving a high five to Haga, and afterwards telling him something, I don't know, some encouraging words I guess, or the usual, "I told you so." :p

And Haga was a bit emotional. I think Spies has some psychological effect on Haga, because he hasn't won a single one-on-one fight for the win with Spies this whole year, while he seems to have no problem beating the likes of Biaggi and Rea or even Fabrizio.

The Phantom
5th October 2009, 07:45
Haga seemed almost too relaxed in the race 1 interview - calmest I've seen him all year. I think either he knew he had race 2 in the bag, or he was suppressing the stress - maybe both.

I think Spies is the one who is a little rattled at the moment, he is under more pressure than Haga simply because this may be his only chance to lift the WSB title. Haga, meanwhile, it's business as usual.
