Have to admit, that looks rather racey and pretty nifty!! Better than its older brother the Mastercard Lola T97/30 anyhow - love the front end treatment. The sidepods look very Brawn-esque..... what a shame this wont race - it seems Lola were more advanced that USF1, Campos et al - Lola are remaining coy saying they arent completely out of F1 yet have 'deferred' for a year - I can see either than pitching again for a spot or looking to sell this car to another team to run......

Lola B10/30 2010 F1 car model - 50% scale

Lola B10/30 2010 F1 car model - 50% scale

The first F1 team to reveal a design for the 2010 F1 season is Lola – even though it doesn’t have a place on the grid.

Lola applied for one of the three places on the 2010 F1 grid offered by the FIA earlier this year – but was turned down in favour of applications from USF1, Campos Meta 1 and Manor Motorsport.

Racecar Engineering snapped this picture of the team’s 50% scale model at a publicity event for the Silverstone 1,000km sports car race, in which Lola’s Aston Martin-powered cars are competing.

The model has already had ten days in a wind tunnel. However some parts of its design look fairly basic, such as the uncomplicated front wing.

Lola are hoping to land a place on the F1 calendar for 2011. But when they’re already this far down the road to getting a car on the track for next year, you have to wonder why they weren’t offered an entry in the first place.

The model is designated B10/30. Lola’s last, unsuccessful, attempt to compete in F1 was in 1997 with the T97/30. It failed to qualify for the Australian Grand Prix that year and was never seen again after the funding behind the project collapsed.

MB-01 design makes its debut at Huntingdon open day

Britains leading racecar constructor Lola revealed its new 2010 Formula 1 car today. The MB-01 was shown off to guests at its pre Silverstone 1000kms event. "We have deferred our F1 entry to 2011" explained Lola Group MD Robin Brundle. "We have not given up on our plan just deferred it by a year."
The model has had ten days testing in Lola's 50% scale wind tunnel and the firm has all the facilities to produce the Cosworth CA-V8 engined car on site, something that only one of the new squads - Campos can boast via its partnership with Dallara.

The design was shown off in the wind tunnel model shop, along with the firms LMP2 design. It has been suggested that Lola may sell the design to one of the new teams joining the F1 grid next year, "we don't know about that, simply because nobody has approached us so we have not discussed it."

The car was initially thought to be known as the B10/30 but a statement from Lola reveals that in fact its designation is MB-01 in deference to Martin Birrane Lola Groups Chairman and owner.

Wow thanks for the post!

What a beautiful racing car. And unless it is my imgination, remembering the Lola's from years gone by, it looks very Lola lines to me!

Absolutely ridiculous that they weren't given a berth on the grid next year. I still say, if a team can put it all together, let them race! I won't give up hope yet that the more FOTA-influenced FIA after Max might open up a couple extra slots... 28 or 30 cars! Come on!

That looks a neat first step design, I wonder how radical they would/could get on the detail work?

Some FOTA members are pushing for 3 cars per team so I doubt the idea of having the precious pit space given to back markers sounds interesting to them.

Instead of the car, a man in black and yellow tshirt is fascinating more, is he the engineer?

Interesting pics, theres no attempt at a double diffuser.

These sort of pics make me depressed, a bit like the model of the Lola Champ Car in fact (when they decided to allow Panoz and only Panoz to compete, before the series fittingly imploded). They need to ditch this franchising bollocks and allow anyone with the capability to build a car and enter a team, to do so.

The design looks very simplistic and is probably an early version to get a base to work on. The front wing looks very generic and while it has nice clean lines it's probably not as effective as the more elaborate designs of the current cars. The area the seems to have had the most attention is the middle of the car but even that lacks details. Also interesting is that the diffuser is not a "double-decker" so that's something they have to redesign in order to have any hope of being competitive.

I think they showed this model more as a marketing move to get themselves media attention and make the FIA choose them should a free place become available (BMW or if one of the 3 new teams fails).
