What are people's thoughts on this?

At first I thought it was a silly gimmick they inherited from F1 but now I actually like it. It spices up the races more. Of the races I've seen Dunlop have done a good job of bringing in the softer sprint tyre that holds up well.

Gimmick plain and simple. You don't need different tyre compounds....that just masks underlying problems with the technical specs

Exactly,

A band-aid fix for a deeper problem. ie...the cars are far too spec
