Hi,

As there already exist threads for rally news for several countries I decided to create the one for France, it's easier than getting a thread for each rallies in my country :p :

This thread is for both championships of course(tarmac and gravel) ;)

It's too late for Rallye Lyon-Charbonnières and Alsace-Vosges, then I start to fill this thread with Rallye du Limousin, 3rd event of tarmac championship(held next week)...

Official website: http://asalac.free.fr
Entrylist(almost official) http://asalac.free.fr/RRLV2009/Engages09/limousin09officieuse.htm

Results on http://www.patricksoft.fr/

For the win there should be no suspense(Patrick Henry in the whale should be above everybody else)but different other battles will ba attractive like in the trophée BFGoodrich(with all the S2000 cars), the Suzuki Swift Cup and the Volant Peugeot 207 R3T... :bounce:

I don't agree there...less than in Lyon-Charbo, but still interesting entry to my mind

Only 3 WRC which is not much in France, no Peugeot 306 Maxi, only 1 Renault Maxi Mégane and not really much famous French drivers.

Tomorrow will be published entrylist of next week Rallye terre du Diois, 3rd round of gravel championship :)

Expect many Belgians as on previous rounds :p :

28th May 2009, 09:46
Snijers will not be there, he will drive the same weekend in a regional rally in Belgium (12 hours of Wervik) as preparation for Ypres.

There is also good news: in Rallye Terre de Langres there will be more Belgian drivers: Bernard Munster (Octavia WRC), Bob Colsoul (Lancer Evo 10) , Dominique Bruyneel (Impreza WRC S5), Stéphane Lhonnay (Lancer Evo 10 Group A or Evo 9 Group N), Claudie Tanghe, Patrick Snijers and probably Stefaan Prinzie (C2 R2 Max) and Chris Van Woensel with Lancer Evo 9 Group N from Colsoul Rallysport. :)

FANTASTIC battle for the lead in Limousin with only 6s gap between Roché(Impreza wrc), Canivenq(207 S2000), Vigion(207 S2000)and Henry(ex-BSA whale)after leg one(7 stages)

Jarek Z
30th May 2009, 14:26
A really interesting battle in France indeed, almost as interesting as in Croatia. 4 top drivers in a margin of 7 seconds. Although it's quite strange that a WRC driver can't beat a Super 2000 car...

Tom206wrc
30th May 2009, 14:42
Jarek, Roché is still discovering his Impreza, and Henry faced engine problems on his whale, without that he would surely be in front ;)

Jarek Z
30th May 2009, 15:33
Cedric Robert doesn't compete anymore?

Mirek

No, he ended his career.

Jarek Z
30th May 2009, 15:52
Really? Completely quit his rally career? Why?

Tom206wrc
30th May 2009, 16:56
Strange !!! Just now the marshalls of the Limousin rally removed Patrick Henry's penalty(10s for one minute late out of service)and he's back in the lead for 3s ahead of Pierre Roche after leg one...

Tom206wrc
31st May 2009, 11:24
After three stages today Patrick Henry has obviously increased the gap in front...

But behind him fight for the rest of podium has never given-up between Guillaume Canivenq, Pierre Roché and Jean-Sébastien Vigion !!!! :D

Three stages left to decide who will finish 2nd and third of the 2009 Rallye du Limousin, 3rd round of the french tarmac rallies championship :)

Tom206wrc
31st May 2009, 13:06
7s is the gap between Canivenq, Roche and Vigion fighting for the podium places after the penultimate stage of the rallye du Limousin

The SS13 and its 29km long road will be decisive...mistakes are forbidden :p :

I have almost never seen an event of the french tarmac championship so disputed until the end :bounce:

A good day again in France for belgian drivers !!!

Dominique Bruyneel is leading the Terre du Diois after five stages, and Bob Colsoul is 5th(2nd in the GrN class) ;)

Fast french driver Thomas Privé has only 6s lateness and I believe he will want to win overall, not only GrN :p :

One stage left before end of leg, and four other stages tomorrow...

PS: retirement with mechanical problem on SS1 on his Skoda Octavia for Bernard Munster :(

wwbroe
7th June 2009, 14:30
Bruyneel is taking in victory in this round of the gravel championship.

1. Bruyneel
2. Chieusse at 1'33"6
3. Cherain at 2'58"4
4. Colsoul at 3'11"2
5. Lavigne at 4'41"9

Thomas Privé didn't reach finish of penultimate stage? :(

Final entrylist(starting order)of this week-end's Rallye du Rouergue
http://3a66.free.fr/rallye/rouergue/engages.pdf

Even if Patrick Henry should be the fav' for the win, behind him the S2000 duel between Canivenq(who will be at home), Vigion and Gal(back with the 207 after the Grande Punto)will be to closely follow ;)

Of course we shouldn't count off Pierre Roché(more and more used to the Subaru)and Jean-Michel Da Cunha(at home on this event)

Also the return of Robert and the arrival in Clio R3 for Pelamourgues will give a great interest to the R3 class(difficult to see the winner between Guigou, Robert and "Pela") :)

Tom206wrc
7th July 2009, 12:54
I forgot to mention the presence of Belgian Thierry Neuville with his C2R2 at the Rallye du Rouergue :mark:
Can also do something interesting in the Group R ;)

wwbroe
10th July 2009, 22:36
After the four stages that were run today in Rouerge, this is how it looks in overall classification:

1. Canivenq
2. Roche at 7"8
3. Vigion at 9"2
4. Da Cnha at 13"5
5. Henry at 17"2
6. Gal at 1'04"1
7. Guigou at 1'09"0
8. Robert at 1'24"7

12. Neuville at 2'49"9

wwbroe
12th July 2009, 14:07
Rallye Rouerge is finished. Here are the results:

1. Canivenq
2. Vigion at 32"4
3. Da Cunha at 2'38"5
4. Guigou at 5'38"9
5. Robert at 6'47"9
6. Lemonnier at 9'44"1
7. Barral at 10'48"7
8. Neuville at 11'10"2

First overall victory for S2000 car in France, local boy Cnivenq won in front of his teammate Vigion. Very nice performance by Thierry Neuville, being 8th overall and winning the Citroen Trophy. ;)

]Walter, Barral wasn't part of Citroën Trophy? How come?

Maybe i misphrased my previous post, what i wanted to say is that he won the C2R2Max confrontation, from what i have seen on entry Barral was not running a Max? Do you have any more info about this, as Tom is still on hollidays. :D

It seems French S2000 cars are faster than WRCs! Look at the French championship standings after Rouergue:

1. Guigou 50 - Renault Cio R3,
2. Canivenq 49 - Peugeot 207 S2000,
3. Vigion 47 - Peugeot 207 S2000,
4. Henry 40 - Peugeot 307 WRC,
5. Barral 37 - Citroen C2 R2

http://asalangres.free.fr/asa%202009/terre%202009/les%20engages.htm

Laurent Carbonaro in a Ford Focus(his whale was too damaged after previous crash), return of favourite Jean-Marie Cuoq in his whale,...

Big fight in the 2WD between the Clio R3, 207 R3T and C2 R2,...

More Belgians than usual on this event, especially in GrNs :)
Overall of course better belgian chances are Bruyneel and Munster with their WRC cars(though the return of Cuoq will make very hard a belgian victory)...

In the Citroën Racing trophy note the presence of Thierry Neuville and Claudie Tanghe(but favorite is "polish champion" Bouffier)
Three other belgian crews in Fiesta N3s are also on entry

In the Volant 207 Swiss Laurent Reuche is among favorites for victory there too...

wwbroe
25th July 2009, 19:00
After the first day in Terre de Langres, this is how it looks ;) :

1. Cuoq
2. Ferrier at 1'14"5
3. Prive at 1'22"0
4. Bruyneel at 1'40"5
5. Chieusse at 2'15"4
6. Carbonaro at 2'17"8
7. Lhonnay at 2'18"7
8. Bouffier at 2'22"1
9. Munster at 2'23"5
10. Comoli at 2'54"0

Bruyneel was in the lead after first run trough the stages, but a loose turbohose made him loose a lot of time and he dropped back to fourth. Munster had a flat tyre and dropped a few places. Colsoul retired after first stage. Bouffier was an incredible third overall after three stages, but he had some king of problem on the last one and dropped back to eight, but he is in a class of his own in the Citroen trophy. Neuville took an easy start but climbed up steadily to be in 15th after first day.

Thanks for the report wwbroe. Keep us all informed about the second day, especially when it comes to Monsieur Bouffier :)

Tom206wrc
26th July 2009, 09:17
Note Neuville and Tanghe, 4th and 5th of the Citroën Racing trophy(Bouffier strong leader despite an important puncture) ;)

Swiss Laurent Reuche leading the Volant 207 with a small margin over Fabien Fiandino(5s)

Six stages today

wwbroe
26th July 2009, 19:04
Rally Terre de Langres is finished, with not too much surprises today. :)

1. Cuoq
2. Prive at 2'16"3
3. Bruyneel at 2'30"3
4. Ferrier at 2'42"2
5. Munster at 2'47"8
6. Carbonaro at 3'17"3
7. Chieusse at 3'57"5
8. Barbara at 5'51"0
9. Hennion at 6'14"7
10. Neuville at 6'17"1

Great performance by Thierry Neuville who won Citroen Trophy and was 10th overall. Bryan Bouffier lost about three minutes on first stage today when he went of in his C2R2Max and finished 13th and fourth in Citroen Trophy.

Whatever he uses good luck to him... ;)

Battle with Vigion and Canivenq(perhaps also Gal, who runs at home)will be tough :D

Up to 3rd in GC now for Meeke after SS3, what happened Mercier? Spin, puncture?

Tom206wrc
4th September 2009, 11:19
No idea

Very good start for Meeke in all case :p :
But I don't think Vigion and Canivenq really aimed to beat Kris anyway(they have to look at the championship and the trophée BFGoodrich they are leading...so no too much risks to take) ;)

Tom206wrc
4th September 2009, 15:08
Interesting !!! After SS5 Vigion is only 10s late on Meeke(he climbed back on SS4 and 5, and Canivenq is also reducing his gap) :) :)

Meeke retired with engine failure, Guigou crashed but the most important thing is that Vigion lost his driving license for very very much speeding (126 km/h on 50 km/h)...

noel157
4th September 2009, 22:11
First reliability issue for Meeke this season (MC not quite a car issue) and with the factory car too. I guess Sarrazin's 3 day test in the car didn't help. After stage 4 water pump started to fail and engine down on power, pump replaced but failed again at start of SS7. Pity, would have been interesting to see how he would have performed tomorrow.
Is there Superally in the CFR?

Very good times indeed, but we must say that the drivers in a WRC car here are 'only' gentlemen-drivers.

Don't forget that in Sanremo the Italian drivers are always very strong. Andreucci, Rossetti and Basso will be faster than Meeke there and maybe Travaglia too.

Basso maybe, I agree but Ucci and Rox? My point was Wim just about put Meeke in 5th (without retirements/accidents) before he even starts. P3 is more likely, but hey, we will see. Going to be a good (if short) rally.

End of first loop of stages of day one terre du Vaucluse(after SS3) ;)

Chronos are really strange...Cuoq best time on SS1 and 3 but lost 1'09 on SS2(plus 30s penalty for being late out of service) :s

Bruyneel who is fighting for the championship, is currently 8th overall...

Tom206wrc
15th November 2009, 10:33
Cuoq is attacking like hell today to reduce the gap after his 40s penalty yesterday: he's already 2nd with 16s gap with leader Carbonaro with two stages left to go

Bruyneel is 5th overall after SS8 and I think it's enough to be champion if he keeps that position ;)

Rumours say that Loix will drive a Fabia S2000 from RGRS next year, but it is not confirmed yet. Of course he must find budget too.

Great to see some 306 Maxi's and Méganes. Nice to see Stéphane Sarrazin again in a rally. The fight in the Clio R3 Cup will be very exciting and there are already drivers from 8 different nations on the entry list. :)

]Rallye Alsace Vosges Ville d'Epinal is cancelled due to financial reasons.

Not exactly.
The ASACAR (the society who organised the rally) said that the cancellation of the rally is because the WRC Rally of France wants to make specials in few same roads that the Alsace Vosges. Logically, the towns who are visited by this stages prefer WRC, and wait for the decision for WRC, to know if the stages will be in WRC or French Championship. But this decision is too late in the year, and the Alsace Vosges rally can't make the road of the rally for the final date to the French Championship (in February, and for WRC it's in March).
It's a sabbatical year. They want to come back next year in French Tarmac Championship ;)
