i'm over joyed at the welcome to the board here. it's great to talk racing and be able to share an opinion without threat of getting booted. now the question. i have what may be called questionable photos that i wouldn't mind sharing. these would be photos of severe accidents and in some cases driver deaths. what are the rules here for such media? penske15

Starter would be the man to ask about that. He's the moderator for this forum.

Just speaking for myself, any pics you have would be interesting. But would you consider not including photos where the driver died? What I'd like to see more of here are the things that bring up our spirits, not things that have nearly pushed me to stop watching racing, after almost 40 years of being a fan. Just my 2 cents.

that's fair enough. if anybody has an interest perhaps i'll just email them a copy or something. i don't want you to get the wrong idea, i am a collector of history and an amatuer statistician and i feel that even the tragic side of the sport must be remembered. that being said, i'm gonna go watch an old race now. i hate off weekends.

I, for one, do not need to see photos of racing crashes in which there were fatalities. I have seen enough in real life, and real time. Your idea of personal e-mails to those who are interested sounds like a valid way of sharing with those who would care to see that type of photo.

No problem. I understand where you're coming from.

I understand too, and my feathers weren't ruffled. It's really like any other thread. As long as it would be identified that something like that might be in it, I'll just not open it.

Even better than this, do you have any pics of any classic livery schemes? Say, the Harley-Davidson/Miller Beer Team Rahal Papis car or the Superman TCGR Vasser car?

I've been looking for this one for awhile, was this a real indy car paint scheme or a custom job?

I come for the racing and technology and not the crashes.
I would prefer not to see them.

There is no need for that here especially as some of those lost have been friends of ours.

The other pictures (like what you posted) would be welcome.

some of them were friends on mine. i choose not to sweep them under the rug and forget them. i'm not trying to suggest that any of you are doing that but i just look at it a bit differently. i repect your opinion. it's all good. :)

Current technology(such as it is...) and evolution of past technology, roadster to rear engine to ground effects...

I would not be opposed, although I'd imagine you'd have to have some sort of warning in the title.

Do you mean state of the art racing with live rear axles, pushrods 4 speeds and carbs.

i meant full scale not 1/4 scale. :) but yea, that too.

You mean to make it a sticky or something like that? Again, that would be Starter. For anything else, just start a thread. We used to have a nice fellow from Toyota Racing Development here - he was great, especially once you got to know him. Hoop98 is here. He has a deep understanding of various engineering and aerodynamic principles. And there are several other people who know their stuff as well. We've also had people from Cosworth Racing, Elan Technologies and a team or two over the years. But as the state of the sport declined, most of those people seem to have drifted away. Especially as they get closer to a new chassis and engine formula, it would be nice to have more techies on here. We don't want it to become like the muddied health care debate, where a bunch of knowledge-challenged yahoos start claiming that the next Indy car will cause grandma to get unplugged from the life support machine, ya know? :D

Call upon some of your (sensible) friends over at the Speed forum - invite them over too.

no pictures of fatalities should be posted IMO, it feels wrong, I personally don't like to see wrecks, I'd rather see the cars in racing action, as long as the drivers survived the wreck, I dont care if they are posted but no one pleased who lost their life

It appears that's a second-generation Dallara chassis (2000-2003). The car has the white box with black numbers on the cowling & nose the series mandated from 1999-2002 with the #1. Valvoline was never a primary sponsor for any team in that time period nor with that number. In fact I'm not sure they've ever been a primary sponsor for any IRL-ICS team (1996 to present).

Correction in my post, the second-generation chassis were in use in years 2000 thru 2002.
