I have just recieved the below message from Cartridge World:

Date 26/08/09
Cartridge World is disappointed to confirm that Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing is unable to line up on the grid for the final three weekends of the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), following the withdrawal of Team CVR (Clyde Valley Racing), the original outfit behind the carbon-zero racing team.

Cartridge World and both team drivers, Adam Jones and Gordon Shedden, have investigated various options to enable them to compete in the last three weekends’ races. However, they have concluded that this will not be possible, and therefore Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing will no longer appear in the championship.

Cartridge World has expressed its disappointment that Team CVR has had to withdraw. As well as ensuring it always met its contractual obligations with Team CVR, Cartridge World offered the team access to specialists on its management team, aiming to create as beneficial a relationship as possible for both parties.

Mark Holland, UK General Manager for Cartridge World, said: “Cartridge World, and both team drivers have had a hectic few days investigating how we could keep the striking yellow cars on the grid. The will was certainly there, but in the end we have had to admit that we are unable to make it happen.
“Cartridge World, its franchisees and customers have thoroughly enjoyed following Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing. We are proud to be associated with the first team created with the intention of operating a completely carbon zero operation, and we remain committed as a company to guiding our consumers on how to continue reducing their carbon footprint.”

Cartridge World is the market leading retailer of refilled and remanufactured printer cartridges. Using specifically formulated inks or toners, Cartridge World stores can refill all major brands of ink and laser cartridge. The end result is a high quality product offering the customer substantial savings on the cost of an original and an environmentally-friendly alternative to throwing the cartridge into landfill.

What a shame I thought they might hav had some further success with Adam and Gordon racing together, especially with Brands Hatch upcoming which is suited for the car. Good lucK in the future to Adam Jones, Gordon Shedden, (Dan Eaves) and Cartridge World

that is a big shame. adam jones looked good this year, gordon shedden has looked good for several years now, and dan eaves a good couple of years a few years back (seemed to fade in recent years though)

real shame for the guys. i really feel for them. i hope they can get a ride soon and hopefully will be there next season with a team.

dont think gordon has any probs getting a ride not with Jillian at home PMSL, a btcc drive might be problematic tho

sorry flash but a wisecrack had to be made there

Flash ain't having much luck this season now the second time he's out of a drive. I would like to see what he could do in a Vectra but thats just me dreaming.
It seems that the financial climate is having more of an effect on the BTCC than we thought.

I'm surprised this hasn't been reported anywhere else. BTCC.net are normally right up to date

Gutting for the team. I think Adam Jones is a brilliant driver and would have loved to have seen what he could have done in a better car. I've always rated flash as well, shame money talks and he was kicked out of Dynamics rather than Pinkney who has been pretty hopeless

Recession was always goona hit motorsport. I just hope it continue to be a brilliant, competitive series next season cause it looks like teams are struggling and no works teams at all

Not officially on the btcc website, but Alan Gow has been questioned and confirmed the spilt on the forum

The official site does not do rumours!

And as they did not get a copy of the press release from Cartridgeworld, they will not print anything.

But the fact that they have not deleted the thead about the split, one can assume they know it to be correct!

After all the fuss and waiting for the team to enter this year its such a shame that they have had to pull out :(

Hopefully Jones, Shedden and Eaves can find themselves drives for next year as they are all quality drivers IMO.

Isn't Jones' car his own? The one that he raced last year?

Yes..

Yes..

So Jones could have better prospects of returning than Shedden.

I will put money on seeing Jones back out before the end of the season!

That's a real shame to lose the team, they had been doing rather well (even if they did have problems running two cars). I hope Adam Jones and Gordon Shedden are able to continue in the BTCC and I also hope Cartridge World sponsors another team.

Thats pants. I'm guessing that financial issues are the problem?

Adam Jones is an outstanding driver and should be in machinery worthy of his talent. How he is overlooked as a works driver is beyond me. He has the potential to be champion but has never had the equipment to do it with.

Since there are only three works drives and one of them is paid for by Andrew Jordan, so no real surprise that Jones doesn't have a work seat.

Yes that is true in the BTCC and next year of course no works Vauxhall, but he is good enough to be on the WTCC stage as well. He reminds me of James Thompson and Andy Priaulx with his consistent speed and racecraft. My dream team would be him and Turkington.

Shame the Carbon Zero project didn't have a bit more backing.

This is a huge shame for the guys behind the scenes as well. Having walked the track in the evening at both Oulton Park and Snetterton the Cartridge World garages were always a hive of activity well into the evening on Friday and Saturday night preparing the cars. Hope to see them back out next year. Also good to hear that Adam is still trying to get his car back out this year.

Real shame indeed, I have always rated Jones highly and for him to be without a drive is criminal but inevitable.

Good news! Gordon Shedden will be driving the SEAT Léon at Rockingham and Brands Hatch under the Club SEAT banner with some help from Cartridge World!

I just hope Adam Jones is able to stitch a deal together as well.

brilliant news, good to have shedden back. lets hope jones can return as well. The return of a seat leon to the grid is great, a BTCC race without a seat is like a cake without flour.....

Anyone know if it looks likely Jones may be out at all for the rest of this season?
