Easy enough for Citroen.....
If Ford really wanted to win they would need the car and drivers to be perfect and they are not!!!

]Funny crash by Albert Llovera in the famous spectator place :D

By the way, Neuville is said to retire because of mechanical problems.
I have A LOT of RESPECT for Alberto.....
He drives the Fiat Punto S2000 COMPLETELY with his hands as he is in a wheelchair and his legs are strapped with velcro to the sides of the cockpit.
He needs to steer, control throttle and brakes with his hands, clutch and shifting is also adapted.
He does the Spanish gravel championships with good results. The problem he tends to have with this event is that is 3 days in a row. After day 1 he is completely exhausted and struggles day 2 and 3. When you see his upper torso he is rock solid and trains a LOT, but to do EVERYTHING with your arms is very very hard.
We laugh sometimes with 'left foot braking' , in his case he has only 2 hands , the right for shifting , the left for throttle and brake, but to push brake and throttle and steer at the same time .....
Here in day 2 a bit to hard for him...... AGAIN RESPECT
Before his accident (not this small crash), he represented Andorra in the Olympic winter games in skiing.... top athlete

This rally must be the most ridicoulous rally ever! Iīm saying this seriously this time. Tarmac and wide roads. FGS we could have a rally between Stockholm and the airport of Arlanda instead.
Rally should go on gravel or snow and ice.
And Loeb crying about sordos sacrifice. Iīm crying too. Because of the very booring way of rally. On tarmac.

Shut the hell up.........Tarmac rally's deserve to be in the World championship now just like they did in the past, there are various rally's like Ireland and Sanremo way more spectacular than some gravel events, a good calendar must have Tarmac, gravel and snow events, not just gravel and snow.....
And dont blame this rally just because drivers like Mikko cant keep up with Loeb and Sordo!!!!

Congrats to Sordo for the speed he had.I suspect that Seb had a little more speed, but knowing that orders will appear he hadn t had to risk.
Pace of Petter shows me the difference between xsara vs c4.Well done also for him.
Congrats to Athanassoulas for a win with a new car with brake problems at all days.

How many more times do people need to be told, Tarmac has just as much right as Gravel to be in the WRC!
We're trying to find the best all round driver, on a variety of surfaces; Gravel, Tarmac, Snow/Ice, etc
Having only 2 Tarmac rounds in a 13 round series is ridiculous. Rallyings roots are on Tarmac. I agree that some of the stages used for Tarmac round aren't great, but there are some great Tarmac Rallies out there that should be in the WRC, the stages used in Rallye Catalunya aren't good.

Hopefully Citroen will get points taken away from them like they did in Australia. :D

I think that in overall we are quite balanced this year. We have 12 rounds, 2 rounds on tarmac (two very different), one event on mixed surface (Cyprus), one event on full snow and last event possibly on mud and snow and gravel, then we had two jumping rounds (Finland and Poland), one water splash event in Argentina, one fast and smooth rally in Australia, one rocky event in Greece, One sandy event in Sardinia and one dusty event on nearly desert area in Portugal.
I think that it is much better situation copared to the one when we had Turkey, Greece, Sardinia and Cyprus all only on quite rough gravel in one year. Now Cyprus was mixed, Sardinia has more moved to the smoother and sandier surface and etc.

I reckon a good forum user is someone who supports al the events and drivers and not people who come to those threads to spam because their home rally may be taken away by another tarmac one or just because they want to have the callendar at their way.
And i understand that my response was a bit agressive, and i apologize, but i've seen way worse here in this forum. I've seen people offending others and they go away with it!!!!

OK, Francis, I understand your upset. But Iīve been rallyman since beginning of 60īs. (even if I only was a little boy by then)
The roots of rallying for me is - gravel and ice.
If tarmac is the one, Catalunya isnīt a god representation of the sport. As AndyRAC says above.
You could have done the rally on F1-circuit as well. Tarmac roads as on Ireland - OK. But Catalunya NO! I stand for what I said. :s mokin:

This is offtopic, but: I've also seen much more negative and confrontational posts here than yours, and because of them I nearly left the board without even making an account. The fact that others make negative posts doesn't make it okay, and when you start doing it too, it just makes the problem worse; that kind of tone contributes to turning away new people, and often also brings down the conversation because it makes people get defensive.
What you said wasn't really that bad, and since you've now apologized I don't think anyone will hold it against you; I just wanted to make the point that if seeing others get away with negative/confrontational posts could justify making more such posts, then soon enough everyone would be doing it, and soon after that no one would want to post here anymore.

Snow in October in GB? That isn't possible in times of global warming.
2009 is really the GWRC, the Gravel World Rally Championship. Rally Catalunya is each year the most boring event in the calendar, due to the very wide roads.

]It's up to driver. Brynildsen had almost now experience with S2000 car and very little with tarmac at all (his only starts with S2000 were Rally Bohemia 2007 with an early crash on SS5 and Rally Larvik 2009 which was cancelled just after the start. He didn't know how to drive Fabia fast. First day he destroyed brakes on every stage by very hard left-foot braking. He was learning all the rally and changed setup in every service. I think that he did a good job. Next time he will be faster for sure ;)
Was great result for Eyvind and the RGRS team, he was having lot of problems to addapt his driving style to Fabia S2000 and lost lot of time to learn the car on day 1.
The event was planned as a test for him to learn the car so all went great.
was not easy for him but his progress and way to learn the car was enormous.
Great Job... :)

Yes it was spectacular!!!! The problem with S2000 A.K.A IRC cars is that they are too much the same as WTCC cars....good brakes, perfect suspension, very good chasis balance and a engine that ruins the whole package....I hope they fix this!!!!

How? They sound better than the WRCs and the better ones give a kick out the hairpins still.
I watched the WRC event at the weekend and even on the hairpins the WRCs were practically just driving round them. I think the simpler transmission makes the bigger difference. Roll on S1600Ts, or S2000 or whatever they finally decide for WRC.

Well, I meant more the nature of stages than cars ;) I think than roads in Catalunya may be interesting for drivers but unfortunately boring for spectators. Onboards from those roads look better than outside footage.

This is why the single tire supplier rule is stupid. BF Goodrich & Pirelli could have been competing against one another to see who could produce a better tire for the variable conditions. Now we just have Pirelli taking the same tire for everyone and not being able to acclimatise to different rallies. Anyone remember Rally Argentina? Complete joke. No traction with the tires and still weren't allowed to make cuts.

Place yourself into a position where you would make that decision for real. This time it would be the lives of maaaany people in your hands instead of normal bashing of the WRC. Would you show green light to driving on those roads?
With zero grip in places (that you might not know) and no gravel cars, all data in the pace note book would be a day or two old. Still, you would send the crews out competively to those conditions?
Thank God there are some wise people in the FIA and rally organization. Yes, I know, rallying is dangerous. But there is no point making stupid decisions that would endanger the lives of the competitors.

Wasn't the problem in Argentina that the weather wasn't as expected - also it was a gravel rally so certain compound of tyres had to be brought... and the rules also stated that no extra cuts etc could be made in the tyre.

Yes, we have lots of them. Not particularly dangerous, because they have a roadbook where all the really dangerous places are marked. The speeds are naturally decreased (if the road is no superfast) because you can't know for sure where the road goes. Sometimes lots of offs but very rarely anything very violent.

Thatīs my video of rallye of catalunya, itīs less spectacular, but itīs ok I think
I hope you enjoy it
