I knew it was considered normal in a lot of Asia to eat dog, but this is the first time I seen it as part of Polynesian cuisine.

Tried it once in the mid 1980s in Mengla, Xishuangbanna.

Didn't know it was dog until after I'd eaten it and certainly wouldn't have tried it if I had known. With the spicing it was hard to know what it was.

Also spent time waiting for a bus with a couple of old Chinese guys who had some kittens in a hessian bag, I'm certain that they would become dinner at some stage!

Whilst on another bus saw a tray top truck loaded with cages full of dogs, don't think it was the local RSPCA either!.

Cats and Dogs are not considered pets in most of Asia.

Thats very true, people have them for practical reasons, dogs to guard houses, and cats to catch mouses etc.
Its very seldom u see someone walking a dog in Asia.
