dont know if this have been mentioned before but Ramona and Miriam wont be at SS8 due a broken rear axle.

They will restart tomorrow.

http://www.sr.se/sida/gruppsida.aspx?programid=2505&grupp=10239&artikel=3440014

About to ask that. I see they are being towed in to service. Good news if they can get out tomorrow. Was the axle breakage caused by an accident or just mechanical bad luck?

What does everyone think will happen tomorrow?

Can Loeb take the lead or not?

i'm not sure they said they noticed it when they drove away
after the last service that there wasn't something right with the car
but i don't know if they were sure either what caused it.

No doubt he is a nice lad but under what conditions could he challenge for a podium?

I don't know - maybe at GB if Loeb, Mikko, and one of Sordo, JML or Petter hits trouble. Just saying that he's not a million miles off, unlike Al-Qassami, Rautenbach, Kimi (at the moment).

Sorry to all Latvala fans, but Ford needs to change their second driver: this one is neither fast now, nor reliable, nor consistent.

Langdale Forest

He is fast, but Malcolm Wilson is telling him to Finish the rallies.

Langdale Forest
12th February 2010, 18:21
N.O.T - When you can't even spell Kimi's first name then you are the one with problems ;) His second name is admittedly tough, but Kimi is only 4 letters and only 3 different letters.

Sometimes you need to be very carefull when spelling names, otherwise you can change the meaning. :uhoh:

I got caught out by this a few years ago.

Doon

He is fast, but Malcolm Wilson is telling him to Finish the rallies.

Yes but finish infront of Sordo, which so far he's isn't doing. I think he is very quick but he takes risks, that usually dont go his way, when he is quick. I dont think he has been the same since the Poland incident, I just hope he gets the speed back very soon. Nobody can deny he has the pace to win!

In other words, he can't finish rallies while being fast. Like Mikko and Sebastien do.

Last Summer, I would rather have had Petter Solberg in the team, but I am starting to wonder if he has lost some of his speed now.

Getting 4th is much better than crashing though.

For them who are blaming Kimi, look at this link http://www.ewrc-results.com/driver_info.php?event=80&stage=1386&driver=4674 how the best winner ever did Rally of Sweden in WRC machinery.
And stop crying like kids for candy if Kimi is not speaking after stage.

apparently Petters rear wing did not fell off by its own when Petter went off at SS5 LIkenäs 2.
According to Petters team, the rear wing was a bit loose after his off
and some a**hole simply pulled it off from Petters car and starting to runaway
with it.
Fortunately some other spectators ran after him and managed to take the spoiler from the idiot and
the spoiler was brought back to petter in an undamaged condition.

That was Seb's 1st snow rally. He did some good times at the end, and there were 3 times as may drivers who could have won that rally. Plus he went off. Kimi would have been way down in 2002, you have to remember that the amount of quality drivers and works teams is far less now.

But Loeb drove before Sweden 2002 a lots of rallies with other cars(Xsara kit-car, Toyota Corolla WRC, Saxo S1600...), for Kimi this is yust the sixth rally in his life, only second with WRC car....so, for me nothing to criticize over Kimi's performance. And we still have Saturday and Sunday....

Seb in 2002 already have at least 3 years rally experience, for Kimi now just 6th rally.
I think that is to early to ask for him some good results - time will show :)

Humble opinion. Just by looking at two onboards available (shakedown and ss2), Kimi needs a change in his pacenotes. First, he's got the same issue as Latvala had - pacenotes are read too monotonously and therefore, it's difficult to drive fast. Too much useless information there also.
If he could simplify them and Kaj could read them like Timo - it would help much.
Also, take your left foot off the brake pedal!!!

I agree entirely. Kimi wasn't awful - just a bit lower than I personally expected. Long term he has a good chance to compete in the higher points, but this rally has not been impressive, especially bearing in mind that this is the surface he has most experience with.

On the other hand it's Kimi's 3rd snow rally while 2002 was Seb's first. And moreover there were 34 WRC cars very mostly very capable drivers... And to let a comment at stage finish is just polite.

Looks like I'm turning into a Kimi fan in some perverse manner. It's just so captivating to think how short the trip is from Monaco to Karlstad. He looks like a boy building a jump, but instead of Stiga sledge he's having something the other kids on the block does not have. Let's enjoy this while it lasts: when he finds a comfort zone at around 1,2s/km for the rest of the season there's not much to write about.

Not impressed by Kimi's attitude. People laugh it off as 'oh well, he's a huge F1 star so he doesn't have to talk with us peasants' but IMO that is wrong. WRC drivers should talk to the press at the end of the stage - it's the unwritten rule. He's doing nothing to endear himself to the rally public.

Maybe but in fairness, if I had to dig my car out of a giant snowbank with a tiny shovel while TV people just stood there filming instead of helping, I'd be pretty grouchy too. We'll have to give him a chance over the season.

I cant believe people are so surprised by PG Andersson. What has Brynildsen ever done against strong opposition? Mikkelson... the jury is out, im my eyes he has never done anything to impress me. Sandell was a whipping boy in JWRC the last time PG raced him. PG is driving the Skoda how it should be driven.

I think the norwegians see a fallen hero and they jump into making this mikkelsen kid the new solberg....|Its indeed sad to see solberg in that state and to be honest its good if he cancels his program this year to save himself from all the noise and live on his accomplishments which i think are plenty and very well documented

As for mikkelsen i see absolutely nothing other than a rich boy having fun with daddys money for the moment.

Can someone tell this BOUDICA person to inform us about Kimmi ??? i think he went to the bathroom 3 times this day and we don;t have a single report....come on boudica we want your walls of text and of course some comments from the PR he uses as co-driver.....also ask this co-driver if he feels he has a future rally star in his hands you know like the countless winningless stars he co-drove for...like Barratt

Tänak showed today very good peace with ordinary Gr. N car, setting the same times with S2000s.

Pirelli Star Driver winner - the others had no chance when to see the times.

Also M. Märtin is helping him a lot.

He is very good talented, but time shows how he will do in world rallying.
But he has definetly very good capabilities in order to be world class driver.

Unfortunately there are many talented drivers sitting at home because lack of funds.

I have one very nice experience with Tänak. Last year in South-Estonian rally spectators were cheering for "0" cars and watching and saying, vow, they are very quick. And the came Tänak with his GrN Subaru and passed us with incredible speed. Everybody (200-300 people) were quiet for nearly 10 seconds. They even forgot their mouths opened. This guy is really fast and determined. He was leading traditional GrN class today until he got stuck in snow for some minutes. And his starting position was very bad for today (39th starter). And it is his first ever Rally Sweden.

He won all rounds in Estonia last year (became champion for second year in a row) and one the first round this year and has made bigger mistake (small roll) only once in three years so far (and I saw it!), it was extremely difficult place where 5 cars from top 8 went off (after nearly 1 km straight there was downhill section, the road was drying. So it was solid bottom and very thin layer of loose gravel on top of it. an there was hard right going into hard left).

You can see it from here: If you dont want to watch the whole video, start from 4:20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaceGwLCYok

Sorry to all Latvala fans, but Ford needs to change their second driver: this one is neither fast now, nor reliable, nor consistent.

Well if you are not a fan, hopefully you won't have to remind us every single rally when he isn't leading. He stated his objected is not to win, but support Mikko so currently he is doing what his boss told him. Only 21 seconds behind Sordo, he improved his setup today, so I expected he should catch and pass Sordo during the next two day.

Wrc.com is absolutely denying the existence of Andreas Mikkelsen. In their summary of day one they are writing that PG Andersson did a "clean sweep" of the first day stages. In reality Andreas Mikkelsen beat PG on one stage. The summary article actually hasn`t got a mention of Andreas Mikkelsen at all.

But now Andreas has started the day with beating PG on the first stage (and passed Tuohino in the overall standings). Lets see if wrc.com picks up that fact, or if they still continue to ignore him. ;)
