30.22.3

That's not a bad time to finish the first day, now he is 10th in the standings so it's positive to end the first day like this.

Hopefully he can make up some places tomorrow in the standings.

I think the fight will come to Scotland, because Chris will have to drop a score, whilst Jan can drop a zero score. But it will be difficult for Kopecky in Scotland i suppose. ;)

Meeke just has to finish the remaining rallys and score some points, he dosen't need to win so unless he punctures or something else happens, is probably champion...We will see!!!!

26th September 2009, 09:01

wwbroe
26th September 2009, 09:22
So, after this very good time from Meeke, Rosetti is taking the lead, but top 3 is only separated by 4"9, so big battle in front of us. Vouilloz was not loosing too much time with his puncture. Good times also for Travaglia, Loix and Duval, who is coming close to Scandola for 9th position. :)

RS
26th September 2009, 09:48
Hello guys,

I am in an internet cafe in Prague checking the results (I forgot Sanremo was on when I booked my trip!)

Gutted about Kopecky, who clearly 'had the speed', but hopefully the championship fight will go to Scotland, even if Meeke has the advantage there.

Looking at Duval's times I wonder if there is anybody left on the WRC forum who still believes that IRC drivers are no match for those from WRC (on asphalt at least)

wwbroe
26th September 2009, 09:53
Stage 6 is live now, wonder if Meeke can repeat his incredible pace on this one as well, he might take the overall lead if he does so.

What a time from Meeke on SS5

Welcome Tom.

RS: I must say that IRC (and also ERC for me) is very nice to follow on the internet and the level is very high. WRC is so boring to follow on the internet and you can predict the winner, why in IRC there are more drivers that can win and the private guys can do something between the factory guys. The only thing what I miss in IRC and ERC is the lack of power when S2000's take a hairpin and more manufacturers, there are too much Pug's there.

RS
26th September 2009, 10:04
I don't think Duval is still seen as a WRC-driver... :erm:

No, but when he was, not so long ago he was on a similar pace to the likes of Loeb and Sordo on asphalt.

I think even that is not so much of a problem so more now that engine development is moving on. The Fabias low down torque seems very strong and even the Punto seems to be making progress in that respect. In WRC they just seem to drive round the hairpins anyway these days :(

Very disappointing driver for me is Scandola, who didn't put one decent time untill now. Last year he was leading at least the rally before he went off.

wwbroe
26th September 2009, 10:36
Gamba went off the road and has damage at the back of the car, Manzini has a puncture, coming true slowly.

wwbroe

Cantamessa only 1"6 behind Duval in overall standings. :) Doing good job in the BF Goodrich Pug.

Yes, that is very good.
His times are today a lot better than yesterday, but that is normal because it was already 3 months ago that he has driven a rally.
Today he is faster than Chentre so maybe he can catch him on the next stage but Cantamessa isn't far behind.

Next stage is only 3,23 Kms long, so i don't think he can catch Elwis over there, and Cantamessa is faster on both long stages. Maybe second run trough these two long stages, Duval can make up some time as he has better knowledge of those stages. :)

Well done to Kris, Paul, Peugeot UK & Kronos
Kris fully deserved this championship and worked very hard to get this oppurtunity.
Also a very happy Mr.McRae will be looking down this evening and saying I told you so, he saw the talent in Kris from day one.

What has now exactly happened with François Duval ?
Does somebody has more news about his retirement ?

Great victory for Meeke and he fully deserves the title !

Apparently Travaglia has taken deliberately road penalty so that Andreucci finishes in front of him. He did this so that he doesn't take points away from Andreucci in the CIR. So in final results Vouilloz takes third, Loix fourth, Andreucci fifth and Travaglia sixth.

So, in the championship Loix and Vouilloz both have one extra point, Loix 37 and Vouilloz 31 points. :D

I just cannot believe. Rally is finished for some hours now, and on IRC site they gave in points standings Loix 4 points, Voullioz 5 points and Travaglia 6 points. They clearly don´t know the results.... In offical classification of Sanremo rally, they also have that kind of results, which are obviously not correct.

Did the Pirellis of Andreucci work best in cool conditions, and then better than the BFG's ?

Wim_Impreza

Pirelli's are always better in cool conditions than in hot conditions. In cool conditions or in rain, they are better than BF Goodrich tyres I think.

What really happened to Kopecky on 2, to close to something ?

Are there pictures or movie of this off ?

Mirek
27th September 2009, 19:36
Yes, there is a movie of the mistake. He hit a wall by LR wheel. No jump there, just fast right corner.

Time 2:17: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydG1tqh8idw

It's pitty for Kopecky that he did only so few rounds. It's too hard to play the game without any jokers. But anyway deserved title for Kris.

I'm trying to understand Travaglia's road penalty here.
If he kept his position, he would have still been a title contender at CIR, wouldn't he? If so, why this favour to Andreucci?

Would it have been a kind of "deal" when he got to drive the Peugeot 207 S2000 at San Remo? Can anyone enlighten me?

Of course Travaglia's own website cites a sudden electrical failure on the final road section, but hey.

What a spectacular event :D Really enjoyed it, however I am not a fan of spectating stages in the dark, but that's how the rally is.

With the second place of CIR drivers, Travaglia was no more contender, he had to be first.
So he took a penalty to leave Andreucci at the second place (CIR).
In Como, last CIR event, only Rossetti and Andreucci can be 2009 Italian Champion.

...Too shorts moments with J4MIE :( ;)
