"Following the complex and narrow asphalt roads of Ypres, Russia provides a complete contrast with its wide and flowing gravel stages, which some drivers have compared to the classic speed tests of Finland. This comes as no surprise given that the rally is based in Vyborg, which is less than 100 kilometres from the Finnish border."

I really need to get some drivers points on the leaderboard so thats what I'm aiming for this time around. If I can find a decent setup and settle into a good rhythm, I think this could be a good rally for me.

Rally Russia Is going to be extremely competitive as
muddy/wet surface gives a difference of +4 or even +6 secs from
dry stages times! So, It won't be easy but It will be great fun as
I personally love the feeling of sliding over mud/wet gravel! ;)
The steering Issue will be crucial though...
Let's enjoy this event, as there won't be any gravel rally for the next
4 rounds of cmr2 IRC! :dozey:

And now Rally Russia.
Because of WRC, I (and many others) have the advantage to know these stages very well.Although, drizzle in some stages will be a problem!!
With set up remaining the same as in WRC and practice in wet weather I hope to take a position in the pondium!

What shakedown is this??Unbelievable Tannat.
Your ideas are everytime new and impressive.
Bravo to you

Lifted where the car is typically on the limit and it held okay in the drizzle. Tapped a tree or four, but no serious mishaps....

I have just finished the rally and I'm quite pleased!!
I made some really good times in bright stages and in night stage.
But in drizzle weather I had some problems with traction!
I would be excited if I get a pondium in Russia.
Looking forward for results!!

Very nice rally !!! The car behaviour was very good wich gave me a lot of confidence. Sometimes i pushed beyond the car limits, and went trough some scary moments...but managed to escape disaster!!

Don't know if it was sufficient for another podium, but let's wait and see.

(Now let's get ready for some tarmac on the next rounds :D )

I did 5 shakedown runs. I noticed that there is no option to set up the car on the arcade stages, so its all even for shakedown times. Unfortunately, I'm in S1600 so it didn't give me an authentic feel for the stages. How and ever, I managed to get down to 1:00.70 after 5 runs. I could scrape more off that, I'm sure, but pretty satisfied for the minute

Not having the best of luck with the rally however. The game has been tripping since SS4 so it might be a DNF for me. :(

Two Basses Rally Development is back on IRC to fight for points.
JTLarsen did a great job here and our car was flying as well. I had more confidence in my Skoda on wet stages, than on WRC car on dry surface. So the setting was great and there was still a space to go faster. I did not choose pushing to the limit, but went fast with a lot of fun. Thanks a lot to all team crew for the fantastic job.

The game has been tripping since SS4 so it might be a DNF for me. :(

Elaboration: When I get to the first split point on both SS4 and SS5, the game crashes to desktop. Not sure why exactly. The first 3 stages work fine (Not sure about SS6 onwards, didn't try.) I tinkered with the in-game graphics settings, changing track detail from 'high' to 'low.' Still, it didn't help, in fact, when I retried SS4 with this setting it crashes before the first split! If anybody can suggest how I might solve this, please reply hastily. I was really confident with what few stages I'd done and gutted to be sitting this round out now. What an anti-climax. :(

Mithus takes his maiden win in the IRC with a fairly dominant shwoing in Russia. An off nearly cost Homer a podium spot with jimakos just 2 seconds in arrears followed closely by NOR. Tannat was the sole S1600 driver to finish as Paddy's rally ended after SS3 (game wouldnot play beyond SS3).

Congratulations to Mithus on your maiden win  I hope to have this game sorted by the next round. In fact, maybe the problem doesn't occur with Italian stages. It's possible that its a problem with the files for the Finland stages only. Anyway, I need to get my head down.

Thanks Nor. You got it right...their my favourite stages.
On this rally i re-started using manual gear change and my hold steering wheell. I felt i was going very strong, but could never imagine it was enough for a 1st place.

I don't have any PB yet on dry conditions (using manual gear & steering whell) but i'll give it a go when i have some spare time. My guess is that it could be about 3 seconds faster ( if i don't crash  :p : )
