In what should come as no surprise to anyone A1GP is facing liquidation and possible bankruptcy.

What this means to the IRL is that maybe Surfer's is willing to consider a date change, or increase the purse to make it a worth while non-points race. It would seem to me that there is an outside chance it could be a non-points race this year again. There's maybe a small chance Ferrari would like to shift their engine program from A1GP to the IRL, but that's doubtful as well.

The most likely scenario is that some decently talented drivers with financial backing will move over to the series next year.

I can't understand how A1 lasted as long as it did. The whole concept was a money loser from the word go, and while I enjoyed the racing I did see, I knew it wasn't going to last.

IT might help the IRL on some level, but I suspect marginally...
